For the most part, it's about how to find a pair of earrings at Target that look nice and don't look like they're $5. Which means, looking for color in gems or stones versus gold(ish) or silver(ish) earrings. Also, replacing the backings makes a huge difference. If you know how to alter them (adding a bead or two), you can. But most of the time, it isn't necessary. The hunt for the right pair is key.
