  • i have exactly the same problem with my new toshiba and ps3. its really annnoying. but its only when my ps3's settings are 1080p/i. when its 720p everything's alright. any ideas? ii tried it with other hdmi cables and other ports and other settings etc.

  • set deepcolor ps3 off.

  • I'm having the same problem with the same receiver and an Xbox 360. Took it in for service and after 3 weeks all they did was update the firmware. This actually helped for a while. But recently the problem has resurfaced. For now, I'm sending the HDMI directly into the TV and using the optical audio going into the receiver. Tried calling Onkyo again and they told me that nearest "authorized" repair center was 3 hours away. What a crock!

  • definitly CABLE problem i had the same problem here!

  • Where the hell did it get its nickname the handshake?

  • The Onkyo TX-SR508 is 3D ready and needs HDMI 1.4 cabels, maby that is the problem

  • @DanielLauge That doesn't help. Onkyo has said that a hardware reset can sometimes solve the problem.

Turn of the unit, press and hold VCR while turning back on. The receiver should say Clear in the display.

I have solved mine with a hdmi splitter.

  • hello I am Italian. I have the same problem with your ps3 and onkyo .. you managed to eventually remove the problem? thanks

  • I have a "fix" that removed it for me and that is placing an active hdmi splitter (maybe a hdmi switch can also be used) between the receiver and PS3.

I don't think Onkyo can or will fix it in any way. They would have to take back alot of receivers then.

  • Do you have a solution for this issue? Is there some firmware update that solved this?

  • I had the Same Problem but with an Xbox360.

I managed to solve the problem as i diabled the HDMI settings on the tx-sr508, such as the HDMI Control ect.

  • Hi, may you be more explicit about your setting "HDMI Control ect" because i don't find anything about in the onkyo setup.

    Thanks

  • @stefpilot In your Setup Menu go to the Point: 10. HDMI Setup in this Menu set the Following setting: Audio TV Out : off Lipsync : off HDMI Control : off Audio Return CH : off Power Control : off TV Control : off -------- Also if you whant to play with the PS3 please set the Audio Settings in your ps3 to "bitstream". I dont know where it is cause i have an xbox360. You can also try what happens if you first start your AVR then the TV and at last the PS3. greetz
  • thanks you

  • @stefpilot

    did it help you?
