Method here ... surround the animal by a ring of human bodies and then shoot it...really. Someone please step in and take the fire arms away from this family before someone gets killed!!!! This is clearly not a hunt...there was no honor in that. There was no sportsmanship in that. I'm not against hunting, or raising your own food. I'm not even against showing your kids that yes we eat these animals and this is how its done. But that video is NOT the way it should be done! Shame on you!!!
"You're not city folk no more"...OMG dont give country folk such a bad image! You look like wanna-be country folk. Notice here there were only a few chickens and one turkey. Severing the jugular and letting an animal bleed out is one of the more humane ways to slaughter animals night owl BY THE WAY!!! That method is practiced everywhere in the United States, except on this farm it seems, and is the most common method that farms use that slaughter hundreds of animals that go to our kitchen tables
good video, annoying kids though. wish you had used the ragtime music through the whole thing instead of leaving your annoying family's audio while the video was being sped up.
I know some people have issues with the way this bird was killed, but truthfully, if you want to know primitive and violent and backwards, you should see how animals are killed Halal style by Muslim terrorist assholes.
They partially decapitate the animal and let it bleed out while still alive, while its jugular is severed. Thats their idea of how to prepare meat for human consumption.
So leave these nice American people alone. Their kids know how the cycle of life really works now.
@goweyyyyyy what an idiot, my turkey is running around back right now waiting Wed. when I will harvest him and eat him the next day. In addition I kill a chicken every other Sunday for dinner. Shooting livestock for sport is retarded. How many animals have you personally killed?
@shlomiah So now it's a fucking competition about how many animals we've personally killed. How is that not some bullshit right there. I never said that shooting a captive turkey is the "correct" way to do it, but how the fuck do you do it when your out HUNTING THE DAMN THINGS IN THE WILD? Sneak up on them all injun like and knock em out first?
@goweyyyyyy idiot again, this is not a competition, this was a reply to your name calling, I respond in kind. Plus your use of profanity. Also this was not hunting. This was taking a captive animal and killing it for sport, whether they eat it or not, it's the wrong and unhealthy way to kill your meat. If it were hunting, well then, you would shoot it, that's how it's done. This was livestock, not a wild animal.
@shlomiah I help out on a friends poultry farm. Just this weekend I killed 17 ducks, and 16 turkeys. As far as chickens, it's gotta be at least 400+ Oh and not to mention the four hog we are processing this Friday. And yes we do it the correct way with killing cones and all that jazz. So don't even start thinking about some bullshit to try and call me an idiot on. Getting sprayed with blood is way better than having chickens shit in your face, nasty fucking things...
@goweyyyyyy I have never had a chicken defecfate in my face, and I have been raising them 15+ years. How did you manage it? I called you an idiot because you mistook me for some bleeding heart veggie type. Then insulted me. So I stand by my comment. Also by your use of profanity, it would seem your vocabulary is limited, so again, I stand by my comment. You didnot have enough info to make your comment, but assumed. Also remeber, you attacked me with your vitriol, I responded.
@shlomiah I picked a bird up by it's legs and it pooped? simple as that. Thanks for assuming I have a limited vocabulary because I use profanity. I'm done with this pissing contest on pointless bullshit. They raised it, they can kill it however they please. Who cares if it's the right way or not, it's their bird not yours. I will however agree on the gun safety issue in this video..
@shlomiah Good for you. I butcher in the n00d, because I like the feel of blood dripping down my nekkid body. You know being the hillbilly I am and all.
@goweyyyyyy I hang them cut both jugulars, they bleed out and I make sure they are calm (no 'fear' chemicals in meat I eat) BTW even simply cutting off the head is the wrong way. It's different when you have to get up close and personal, and get sprayed with blood. I do. How about you?
Does not seem that bad to me. They are just more connected to their meat than most people. That turkey's life was 10 times better than the life of the poor, degenerate Butterballs raised in factories and eaten by most Americans.
You candy asses need to grow up and get the big picture. Food comes from animals and plants. Every spoon full you stick in your mouth represents something that had to die. Food does not come from grocery stores, you just buy it there. Death isn't pleasant, just necessary. The bird didn't suffer. It's nerves caused all the flapping and movement after death. headless chickens fly around for several minutes after death. It's not suffering, just nerves firing.
I can't see why everyone's beating on them for making a effective slaughter, the bird died painlessly, does it really matter if it was done by a gun or ax? seriously, come back to reality, geez.
@flamedrag18 Killing an animal as a party? With kids involved? Making "jokes" about it? What happened with the RESPECT we owe to every living creature on the planet? You find THAT effective? Yeah, I bet those little fuckers will grow up to be effectively messed up...
@Nicholas092282 fuck off with your "respect the planet" and "seeing this will make the kids psychos" bullshit. this is a family party for thanksgiving. if you don't like it, why did you even watch the damn video? or even search for it. it's a fact of life that all meat comes from a living animal at one point, the kids seeing this will not "mess them up", it's showing them where their meal is coming from.
@flamedrag18 Yep, yep. You're right. This IS a party. And what party is one without the joy of killing an animal in front of children and laughing about it. I'm not against animal consumption or slaughter or whatever you want to call it. I'm against making it seem "festive"... There are far better ways of showing kids where does meat come from than taking them to a slaughterhouse and letting them watch how they kill them... Wouldn't you agree?
@flamedrag18 So you're basically saying that "reality" is showing your kids that you don't give a fuck about a living creature and that its OK to laugh while you kill an animal? Mmmkay...
@flamedrag18 So you're LITERALLY posting a reply starting with "sigh" (not giving any explanations to your "theory") and YOU are calling ME a moron? There's no reason to make an event out of killing an animal. NEVER, I don't give a flying fuck if it is part of your psycho BS traditions or whatever. I'm not against eating turkey, or anything like that I'm against parents bringing their kids along just to blow the fucking things head off. If you honestly don't think it is fucked up...
@Nicholas092282 ...Then you know why Americans are always thought of as morbidly obese good for nothing fuckers... (because, you know THAT IS the way the world sees you, right?)
I five turkeys myself and I'm planning on killing them for thanksgiving or Christmas I don't kno yet but thanks for posting this cuz I have no idea how to pluck a turkey but now I kno thanks and one thing did u use a bird shot or jus a regular shot gun shell?
@seniorsgonewild Yeah uh no this isn't the way to pluck and prepare them. You should submerge the bird in hot water around 150 for about a minute so that the feathers release. There are more steps to this that this family didn't bother with. normally a light bleach and water solution as a bath then the hot water for the feathers. The gizzard is usually located and carefully removed intact...just to name a few. Look at other videos. The lack of washing was a bit scary honestly.
you guys don't know much about how things are done huh? alot of people on farms or in the country purchase turkeys to raise for food. they take the turkeys, kill them and eat them, that simple. you could shoot with shot gun or take their heads off, he choose shotgun, nothing wrong with that. you have to hit the head with shotgun, or ruin meat. nothing wrong with raising birds to harvest, where do you think your chickens/turkeys in supermarkets come from? ps, the kids are raised to do this.relax
I killed a lot of poultry, and I always wondered why the fuck you kill them with shotgun? Its way easier and humane to kill them by beheading... It takes a second and its way less painful for bird... I mean, that would be the death I prefer: quick and painless as possible!
well that thing died a quick and painless death! he shot in the head! its nerves were still active thats why it was moving!. . . they couldve done it another way like not have the whole family watch and instead of blowing it brains out chop its head off!
@SalAngRob I've seen people hang a live turkey upside down and slit their throat then wait for them to bleed to death while it stuggled. At least here death was quick. Amateur yes, but quick. Do they have a more humane way other than a blow to the head? Do they gas turkeys to death so the birds just fall asleep and never wake up?
@Autumnvicky If it's done RIGHT, they are quite calm til the very end when the nervous system shuts down, = there is little blood left in the meat, which isn't good for you. The guy did not know what he was doing, or how to handle a firearm, since he did not have a clear field of fire
how would you like it if someone came in and shot that piece of shit you call a wife and you had to watch them slowly cut her apart as painfully as possible..thats probably what you deserve if this is how you hunt you dumb redneck piece of shit!
When we slaughter our turkeys, we do it by cutting the head clean off with a very sharp blade - and they do just that flapping ang kickin anyway, only with no heads. Dead as a doorknub for sure. Just like superdedooperman said, it's just the nervous system shutting down. Usually it lasts several minutes. I don't see any suffering in this video, althouhg I will continue to rely on my blade as the best, fastest and the most humane way to slaughter a bird.
@Maizzzi you ought to put them in a cone or a burlap sack, when they flap around like that it can break bones, bruise and ruin the meat. I believe you raise your own birds for quality and health, bleed them it's much more healthy.
I happen to like hunting my self, but be fucking respectful of what you're hunting, and kill it quick and painlessly that bird was suffering. You dont take a fuckin 12 guage and blow away 3/4 of it's fuckin brians you hillbilly!
I'm and turkey hunter and you RARELY get a turkey that doesn't flap around right after it dies. All the flapping and kicking around the bird did after it was shot was just it's nervous system shutting down. That's just what it does. The turkey died fast. It just looks worse than it is. :)
@nypd67p you numbs skull wtf do you think they use to hunt turkeys? SHOTGUNS!! and it just so happens that they end up blowing away 3/4 of its brains.
heres an easy way to not sound like an idiot on youtube: read your comment BEFORE you post it and ask yourself "does this make sense?"
@serineprotease Actually, my comment made perfect sense unlike yours. And what pisses me off is that you are probably one of those lardass trolls in your mothers basement that have nothing better to do than try to ruin other peoples comments. Now please go off back to grammer school and buzz off you filthy troll.
@nypd67p that was a quick and painless kill and most farmers that kill their own chickens and turkeys in the same way maybe not with a 12 guage but the point is to kill it for eating not to please anybody watchin......just sayin
@nypd67p I don't agree with his ways but if he raised that turkey with the intent of harvesting it than what's wrong with that!!! Also that turkey was dead as soon as he shoot it, those were just nerves and if you know anything bout turkey hunting with a shotgun you would know to aim for it's head so that you don't destroy any meat!!!
@25jlive when it flaps around like that, it CAN potentially ruin the meat. There are better ways, like killing cones or hanging in a sack with the head and neck out.
@nypd67p God thank you!!!! even if it was just nervous system reactions gads all those people were so close!!! anything could have happened. Maybe for instance he didn't clean his damn gun properly ...I mean they aren't slaughtering the turkey properly...
MAN! Get those non-hunters out of there! I want to learn how to hunt and gut turkey not hear "Oh thats so sad" and "Boo hoo he killed it". Seriously redo this video without the distractions!
why are you guys friggin yelling?! he killed the bird so he could have dinner with his family... even if he did hunt it the right way it still would of died!
You guys are nothing but scum bags!!! Im a 18 year old jersey boy that loves his hunting and respects the animals. What you guys did is nothing but fucked up. You and your family members are nothing but a bunch of shit heads with nothing better to do but kill animals in a non respectable way. Why dont you scum bags go back to being fucking imbread assholes, then learn to respect animals and hunt them the proper way! You guys do nothing but make hunters look bad.
@buckpro1315 hey dumbass, where do you think your meat comes from at kfc, taco bell, etc.? This turkey was obviously raised for thanksgiving, if you raise the turkey whats the point of tossing it into the wild to chase it when you raise it for thanksgiving? You know how they do it in the slautherhouse? either a sledge hammer to the head or a air gun with a rod in it to penetrate the brain. The cow is usually not dead when they start the process of butchering it, its just stunned and can't move,
@buckpro1315 Hey moron where do you think all the meat at the markets come from? This turkey was obviously raised for Thanksgiving dinner, this is not a wild hunt this is a pet turned into food. You ever seen the real slaughterhouse videos? I have a buddy whos dad works at one, you know what his job is? sitting on a chair above the cows as they come up the line and wacking them in the head with a sledge, some places use a rod gun, the cows are still alive when the butcher process starts.

@buckpro1315 its called fucking farm raising a turkey get a clue some states only have spring seasons so a 5$ turkey and some grain is a good investment and it's also a good lesson for the kids i think this is how i was raised on a farm so i think you city boys should take a lesson go hunt a fucking chicken instead of buying it then next time your hungry for it hypocrite bet you dont how u think food gets in a supermarket? not by hunting lol top of the food chain humans dominate get used to it!!
@buckpro1315 What a bunch of stupid fools. Right after he took the shot you could see someone that was right in the line of fire. Stupid people like you give hunters a bad name!!!
@buckpro1315 Easier and better for people to raise the turkey on a farm, kill and eat it than hurt the wild populations by hunting them. If people all hunted the 'proper' way wild turkeys would probably go extinct and people would go hungry. Grow up. Killing animals on a farm is a way of life that's fed countless generations.
@Autumnvicky It's the backasswards ameteur way it was done. I am killing mine in 2 days, the right way. Maybe this numbskull should have joined FFA in highschool.
@buckpro1315 What would you have them do say a prayer for the turkey? Its brains were five feet across the yard and it wasn't feeling anything, its just nerves. You talk about being disrespectful to animals when you just went out of your way to hurl insults and profanity at a family which included a bunch of kids and people actually voted up your comment. What the hell does that make you?
@buckpro1315 dude you know those turkeys in the store that are really big, that people buy for thanksgiving how do you think they got there. they were raised on a farm then killed cleaned then sold to stores. yea they weren't shot in the head. what im trying to say is these people did almost the same thing but with a gun, it wasn't sold to a store and the whole family was watching. . . and they never said that they hunted the turkey the title says dressing the Thanksgiving Turkey so stop crying!
@sergeant505 and that kid from New Jersey , who hunts was trying to say that there are better ways like cutting heads off or actually really hunting and not surrounding a pet turkey within a ring of humans (who could have also been hurt btw) Buckpro was absolutely correct it was disrespectful of the animal and it was dangerous.
@buckpro1315 if they raised that bird its not hunting anyway the 12 guage might have been a little much but that turkey died as soon as it was hit and they killed it for food not for the fun of just shooting something
@199jl I can't agree, they shot it for the fun of it, rather than slaughtered it. No matter if they were going to eat it or not. this thing screams thrill seeker and inexperience. I have slaughtered and eaten countless birds, and this ain't the right way to harvest domestic livestock
@shlomiah Ok I think I want to marry you. and there's absolutely no point for me to comment on any thing here because you are saying the same things i would. Shlomiah my respect to you.
@buckpro1315 If he raised that Turkey with the intent of harvesting it for his family than there is nothing wrong with that!!!! The Turkey was dead as soon as he shoot it, it was just it's nerves... If you knew anything bout Turkey hunting with a shotgun than you would know that you aim for the head so you don't ruin any meat... The only thing i saw wrong was that it didn't really look like he shoot in a safe direction as a kid soon after ran from the direction he was shooting!!!
@buckpro1315 Sounds like your the scum bag that needs to take his guido ass back to the Jersey shore where you and your butt buddies can continue fist pumping and touching tips. This isn't even close to fucked up. At least their killing a single bird for an entire family to eat. Your shitty ass comment is thousands of times more disrespectful than what they did to this bird. Insulting a family because your head is too far up your ass is completely uncalled for. Not to mention they aren't HUNTING
Great video!!..Probably the best detail of how to gut a Turkey..You should do one without music and in regular time to explain all the finer points :)
I agree with a previous poster, you should have just cut it's head off with a sharp knife for a quick and painless death. I'm not trying to be rude, but you did not have a clean kill. Did you even aim for the neck/head? When you take down a turkey, it should drop dead - end of story. After wounding it, you should have put it out of it's misery with a knife or 2nd shot. As any good responsible hunter will tell you, you take down a turkey in a efficient manner with no suffering for the animal.
Always cut the head off asap for a cleaner kill. Hell it wasnt even evading.. quick slash with a large knife or machete would of done the trick! Showing the family was a good idea.. I agree with the previous comment, people need to remember their meat starts with violence.
@Jaxx137 Dipping the bird in hot water mades the feathers come out easier. We could have done that after the bird was shot and bled, but decided against it.
thank you very much for your video. i love the setting where ye all live any fish in that lake? i am just about to slaughter my two turkeys and your video was very informative. i will post my video when complete. keep up the good work

you guys don't know much about how things are done huh? alot of people on farms or in the country purchase turkeys to raise for food. they take the turkeys, kill them and eat them, that simple. you could shoot with shot gun or take their heads off, he choose shotgun, nothing wrong with that. you have to hit the head with shotgun, or ruin meat. nothing wrong with raising birds to harvest, where do you think your chickens/turkeys in supermarkets come from? ps, the kids are raised to do this.relax

I killed a lot of poultry, and I always wondered why the fuck you kill them with shotgun? Its way easier and humane to kill them by beheading... It takes a second and its way less painful for bird... I mean, that would be the death I prefer: quick and painless as possible!
D3w10n 11 months ago
I use a 12 gauge to hunt turkey. He was killing it for food, not for the fun of shooting something.
Strongmanweb5353 1 year ago
really you should go out and hunt for the turkey! dont keep it as a pet and then shoot it at close range!

well that thing died a quick and painless death! he shot in the head! its nerves were still active thats why it was moving!. . . they couldve done it another way like not have the whole family watch and instead of blowing it brains out chop its head off!

thats great i love how every one is laughing then as soon as its shot kids start crying

Fucking hill billy retards, why not use an axe and not let the kids see. I'm a hunter and your an idiot.
opie111 1 year ago
@SalAngRob I've seen people hang a live turkey upside down and slit their throat then wait for them to bleed to death while it stuggled. At least here death was quick. Amateur yes, but quick. Do they have a more humane way other than a blow to the head? Do they gas turkeys to death so the birds just fall asleep and never wake up?
Autumnvicky 1 year ago
@Autumnvicky If it's done RIGHT, they are quite calm til the very end when the nervous system shuts down, = there is little blood left in the meat, which isn't good for you. The guy did not know what he was doing, or how to handle a firearm, since he did not have a clear field of fire
shlomiah 3 months ago
how would you like it if someone came in and shot that piece of shit you call a wife and you had to watch them slowly cut her apart as painfully as possible..thats probably what you deserve if this is how you hunt you dumb redneck piece of shit!
Monst3r199 1 year ago
When we slaughter our turkeys, we do it by cutting the head clean off with a very sharp blade - and they do just that flapping ang kickin anyway, only with no heads. Dead as a doorknub for sure. Just like superdedooperman said, it's just the nervous system shutting down. Usually it lasts several minutes. I don't see any suffering in this video, althouhg I will continue to rely on my blade as the best, fastest and the most humane way to slaughter a bird.
Maizzzi 1 year ago
@Maizzzi you ought to put them in a cone or a burlap sack, when they flap around like that it can break bones, bruise and ruin the meat. I believe you raise your own birds for quality and health, bleed them it's much more healthy.
shlomiah 3 months ago
I happen to like hunting my self, but be fucking respectful of what you're hunting, and kill it quick and painlessly that bird was suffering. You dont take a fuckin 12 guage and blow away 3/4 of it's fuckin brians you hillbilly!

I'm and turkey hunter and you RARELY get a turkey that doesn't flap around right after it dies. All the flapping and kicking around the bird did after it was shot was just it's nervous system shutting down. That's just what it does. The turkey died fast. It just looks worse than it is. :)
superdedooperman 1 year ago
@nypd67p you numbs skull wtf do you think they use to hunt turkeys? SHOTGUNS!! and it just so happens that they end up blowing away 3/4 of its brains.
heres an easy way to not sound like an idiot on youtube: read your comment BEFORE you post it and ask yourself "does this make sense?"
serineprotease 1 year ago
@serineprotease Actually, my comment made perfect sense unlike yours. And what pisses me off is that you are probably one of those lardass trolls in your mothers basement that have nothing better to do than try to ruin other peoples comments. Now please go off back to grammer school and buzz off you filthy troll.
nypd67p 1 year ago
@nypd67p that was a quick and painless kill and most farmers that kill their own chickens and turkeys in the same way maybe not with a 12 guage but the point is to kill it for eating not to please anybody watchin......just sayin
199jl 1 year ago
@nypd67p I don't agree with his ways but if he raised that turkey with the intent of harvesting it than what's wrong with that!!! Also that turkey was dead as soon as he shoot it, those were just nerves and if you know anything bout turkey hunting with a shotgun you would know to aim for it's head so that you don't destroy any meat!!!
25jlive 1 year ago
@25jlive when it flaps around like that, it CAN potentially ruin the meat. There are better ways, like killing cones or hanging in a sack with the head and neck out.
shlomiah 3 months ago
@nypd67p
Dude, a 12 gauge at point blank like that you would die instantly.
Can you say nerve reflexes?
IRZ09xX 6 months ago
@nypd67p You're a fucking idiot, how isn't blowing 3/4's of somethings brains out not a quick way to kill it?
And if your not supposed to use a 12 gauge why do they make 12 gauge rounds specifically for killing turkeys?
And why am I reading year old youtube comments....?
goweyyyyyy 3 months ago
@nypd67p God thank you!!!! even if it was just nervous system reactions gads all those people were so close!!! anything could have happened. Maybe for instance he didn't clean his damn gun properly ...I mean they aren't slaughtering the turkey properly...

you should have stomped on its head to be sure it is dead even though you shot it in the head.

You and your family members are nothing but a bunch of shit heads with nothing better to do but kill animals in a non respectable way. Why dont you scum bags go back to being fucking imbread assholes, then learn to respect animals and hunt them the proper way! You guys do nothing but make hunters look bad.
buckpro1315 1 year ago 7
@buckpro1315 hey dumbass, where do you think your meat comes from at kfc, taco bell, etc.? This turkey was obviously raised for thanksgiving, if you raise the turkey whats the point of tossing it into the wild to chase it when you raise it for thanksgiving? You know how they do it in the slautherhouse? either a sledge hammer to the head or a air gun with a rod in it to penetrate the brain. The cow is usually not dead when they start the process of butchering it, its just stunned and can't move,
haedesbomb1 1 year ago

Stupid people like you give hunters a bad name!!!
beauthepyro 1 year ago
@buckpro1315 Easier and better for people to raise the turkey on a farm, kill and eat it than hurt the wild populations by hunting them. If people all hunted the 'proper' way wild turkeys would probably go extinct and people would go hungry. Grow up. Killing animals on a farm is a way of life that's fed countless generations.

@buckpro1315 dude you know those turkeys in the store that are really big, that people buy for thanksgiving how do you think they got there. they were raised on a farm then killed cleaned then sold to stores. yea they weren't shot in the head. what im trying to say is these people did almost the same thing but with a gun, it wasn't sold to a store and the whole family was watching. . . and they never said that they hunted the turkey the title says dressing the Thanksgiving Turkey so stop crying!
sergeant505 1 year ago 10
@sergeant505 which is why I don't buy them I kill my own the CORRECT way
shlomiah 3 months ago
@sergeant505 and that kid from New Jersey , who hunts was trying to say that there are better ways like cutting heads off or actually really hunting and not surrounding a pet turkey within a ring of humans (who could have also been hurt btw) Buckpro was absolutely correct it was disrespectful of the animal and it was dangerous.
Fenikkusuuk 2 months ago
@buckpro1315 if they raised that bird its not hunting anyway the 12 guage might have been a little much but that turkey died as soon as it was hit and they killed it for food not for the fun of just shooting something
199jl 1 year ago
@199jl I can't agree, they shot it for the fun of it, rather than slaughtered it. No matter if they were going to eat it or not. this thing screams thrill seeker and inexperience. I have slaughtered and eaten countless birds, and this ain't the right way to harvest domestic livestock

25jlive 1 year ago
@buckpro1315 Sounds like your the scum bag that needs to take his guido ass back to the Jersey shore where you and your butt buddies can continue fist pumping and touching tips. This isn't even close to fucked up. At least their killing a single bird for an entire family to eat. Your shitty ass comment is thousands of times more disrespectful than what they did to this bird. Insulting a family because your head is too far up your ass is completely uncalled for. Not to mention they aren't HUNTING
goweyyyyyy 3 months ago
Great video!!..Probably the best detail of how to gut a Turkey..You should do one without music and in regular time to explain all the finer points :)
mn12 1 year ago
I think its dead, it obviously doesn't have a head!
shortwavecolt 1 year ago

Was that a tub of warm water you dipped the turkey in after gutting? Does that help remove the small loose feathers sticking to the bird?
Jaxx137 1 year ago
@Jaxx137 Dipping the bird in hot water mades the feathers come out easier. We could have done that after the bird was shot and bled, but decided against it.
