What model and year Simplicity do you have? It appears to be the M Series commercial line. What do you think of its performance compared to other machines you have owned or seen?
I believe it's the Professional line of blowers, the 1524 model (it's 24" wide). It's overpowered, because it has the same engine as I think the 26-28" models, but because it's only 24", it never strains at all, it just eats right thru the heavy stuff. That, plus the PowerBoost feature of the Simplicity's (which transfers more power to the blower when it bogs down), means it is never lacking for power.
When he gets to the slushy stuff it shows how utterly useless even the best (simplicity) blowers are in wet conditions.Don't get me wrong please...glad for you in the coulder parts of the continent...
@tscholent i just cleard 3ft of wet slushy snow out of my drive with my blower (simplicity 250cc 9hp) with no prob threw at least 10-12 ft but i cant wait to get it in powder!
We call them "sidewalk tanks", because they are used to clear the sidewalks, and they look like tanks, and they love to race down sidewalks and scare people out of the way (just kidding).
They're made I believe by Bombardier, and Saint-Laurent (the city I live in) likes to use them, perhaps because Bombardier has their head office located right in this city. This is the same company that makes trains, planes, ski-doos and sea-doos.
Looked at Honda, while powerful, they are way overpriced. talked to a few repair guys, and several told me stay away from Honda. Why? Well, they use things like hydrostatic transmissions with lots of expensive parts. Also, Honda likes to redesign things every 10 years or so, and stops supporting their old models with parts. They had a few 15+ year old models, that they can't get parts for. Simplicity has parts for models going back 45+ years because they're still running those old ones
Wow, so you're getting hit with the storm too. Here in rural Vermont we've gotten hit with around a foot and a half today (10/21) and had gotten hit with another foot or so on Friday and Saturday. I made a video of my Honda HS80 (one of the most powerful snowblowers for its size I've ever seen) blowing some snow yesterday, check it out on my account if you want. I've got all sorts of snowblowing videos. Good luck with the storm, bet that simplicity will eat it up!
you should of shoot the snow at him lol

In Norway, there is just one tractor. But they aren't that good to clear the streets though...
mstruckerboy 2 years ago
This is nothing, they were just clearing to the side of the road. You should see when they come to blow it away.
- Sidewalk tank to clear the sidewalks
- Grader to scrape away from the sidewalk
- Plow to push it back towards the side, in a nice neat pile
- Snowblower to blow it into a
- Line of dumptrucks to haul it away
- Another sidewalk tank and plow, to clean up any snow the blower missed/spilled
Quite a show when it goes down the street

Holy snowflake! That was a lot of equipment to clear one street! ;-)

i have the ssame machine 8hp simplicity. shoots crazy high in powder. my walker lawnmower with 42 inch snowblower shoots 43 fet in the air though
blastermaster515 3 years ago
Most times the wind was against me, but I don't see this unit having any problems blowing clear across the road (4 lanes wide) if I wanted to.
Jobber1969 2 years ago
That's nothing. they're just clearing here, right after the snow stopped falling.
Removal parade consists of:
- Sidewalk tank to push onto street
- Grader to push away from curb
- Plow to push back towards curb into one nice pile
- 1 BIG snowblower (with safety guy walking out front)
- Convoy of 8-10 dumptrucks, hauling snow away (they don't blow it on your lawn, or leave it there all winter).
- 1 more sidewalk tank, to make sure it's clear, and spread sand if needed.

That was nothing, a little 10cm snowfall. Today we're getting hit with 30+ cm, it's been falling all day.
