  • Gods: GODLIKE!!! :P

  • I only used the mod-file in scream tracker. Was always messin arround with music files then. Amiga made my day!!

  • En el último jefe me quedé.

  • I'm happy to see that many people like that record, even after more than 3 years !

For the storry i made that record because Gods is the first game i played on amiga and deffinitivly the one that carved his name in my gamer's heart.

Thx to the Bitmap brothers for that.

  • Memories! I can't stop watching.

  • @NenshaVEVO true bro... same here

  • If I ever have kids, I want to convince them that all music from te 90's was made by the bitmap brothers.

  • @S0ryiu Nu uh. Nation XII. Does anyone know what Nation XII do now? I loved all their Amiga tunes but can't find anything on them at all.

Meanwhile, Into the Wonderful still resides in my Winamp playlist.

  • there is a remake in java very well done from this, for win and linux

  • The music.....THE MUSIC. WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!!!

  • Along with Chaos Engine greatest game of all time

  • This game is the TITS!! :D

  • I loved GODS :P Wish it could come out on PSN :P

  • I have finished this game when i was 8, it was one of my favorite games. I played it only in PC. Probably, nowadays there is no game like GODS... It is really hard, i spend many hours.

  • where you download this game?

I lowered a few remakes but the levels are different.

  • Defiantly an overlooked jem in sidescrolling!

  • I remeber a cheat where you got lots of points and I think also money to spend in the shop.

This worked for me on my AMIGA, though other versions I am not sure.Watch the video from

here 23:48, now the door that you go through to complete the round is where the cheat happens.

    Continued below....

  • 1) Make sure your energy is so low that on next contact you would die.

    2) Stand in front of the end of level door and wait for contact from enemy walking into you.

    3) As soon as contact is made be quick to exit through the door.

    4) If you done this correctly you should now see your score topping up through the millions.

I think it takes about 20 minutes to stop, but it will stop.

I am remebering from this from about 19 years ago!!!

Thumbs up if it works for you or you can remeber this cheat!!!

  • Argh, the puzzles....never could figure out some of the secret ones more than twice in a row. Still trying to remember how to get the Large Gem in World 2, and the Large Treasure Chest in World 3.

  • Bitmap Brothers were artists. I love this style.

  • WTF? everyone knows the only and real god is chuck norris ;D

  • @xXxMartin96xXx I doubt he was as good as Hercules, here. ^_^;

  • @SaviourV

yes, he was even more good than hercules :B

  • hey, how to downlad this game? I want to play it again.. I played this game more than 10 years ago.

  • INTO... THE WONDERFUL... I love that tune. EPIC.

  • Winuae wont yet emulate Amigas screen smooth scrolling. Unfortunately.

  • @urmo345

It does, its YouTube that destroys the framerate :P

  • @cubex55 It does now? I know last time it was still issue cause there was only 2 ways: 1. smooth scrolling but faster gameplay or normal game speed but jerky scrolling.

If they did removed this issue i would download winue again.

  • @cubex55 - this game didnt appear to use amiga smooth scrolling, rather port of atari ST method (crossplatform game for economical art&design rather than amiga hardware fest, fair enough)

  • @cubex55 and @urmo345, actually this game is on record for the choppiest scrolling of all commercial Amiga games. Most codecs destroy pixel graphics and smooth scrolling to blurred porridge, but the big versions of these videos (see link in topic) are sometimes recorded at full framerate (in WinUAE, incidentally) and at pixel perfect quality. WinUAE does perfect, smooth scrolling fine. Not possible for this game though, since it had choppy scrolling on a real Amiga. ;)

  • @powderyorgan i have problem running Turrican 2 (and other shooters as well) smoothly on WinUAE. Only option is that games are smooth but faster than normal, or normal but unnaturally choppy. (never played it on Amiga, i still have Amiga but no Turrican on it). I did read somewhere that this issue cannot removed cause emulation refresh rate conflict with PC. Maybe they solved it now.

  • @urmo345, WinUAE has perfect scrolling on a 50Hz capable display right out of the box. No settings need be changed. But that has nothing to do with Gods having choppy scrolling. An emulator can't compensate for the choppy scrolling, it's a result of Mike Montgomery's unoptimized code.

  • @urmo345 and Gods was 25 Frames natively anyway wich gave them freedom to do a lot more stuff

  • this game is state of the art

  • I think my favourite part about this game was how all the enemies, no matter what, violently exploded in balls of fire.

  • I remember how long it took to complete this game!

Damn it was worth it! :)

  • this brings back good old memories :]

  • I was a huge fan of this game! I'm amazed anyone could complete this game though! I always got to a point where I was sitting there thinking now what! I've been all over the place though a dozen doors and I cannot get to the end of the level! the very worst thing was those times later on where you either got it right 1st time or you were screwed!! like "the super jump potion wore off before I was able to get up to the platform! now what!!!! I needed that key to progress and there is no do over!

  • I remember playing this when I was about 15... On my joystick...... Yes, JOY. STICK!!!!

  • awesome game. still playing it today with winuae. brings back the great 90s memories with the amiga.

But hmm...two things: minutes ago I tried to turn the levers like you did (those secret bonuses I never knew before), but on the first level the last trap door won't come out (4:15)...also the 2nd level, I won't get the high-jump potion though I turned the levers exactly like you did. somehow it doesn't work for me (6:14) . o_O

    different .adf file maybe?

  • @TheArrow1987 For the first level, you not only need to pull the levers as he did, but also get to the last lever within 2 or 3 minutes (do exactly as he does). If you manage to get the bouns from the last trap door, then you will have the giant jump potion on the next level (have to kill all those monkeys first).

  • Thx very much. Seriously.

  • this game was impossible when I was a child.. happy days to see past the first section!!

  • Can somebody tell me, something I Don't understand today::: "how is it possible to keep such a GREAT game with great graphics(for it's time), music, gameplay etc etc. on just 2 floppy drive's..which has a total ammount of only 2.88MB..less then a normal MP3 song....??

DAMNNN: Played this game ALL Day/night long!!!! sure bring backs good 'ol Amiga 500 memory's..

  • @mykeymike

That's also something that amazes me!!! Low RAM, GREAT EVERYTHING!

  • Beautiful gameplay.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this, my favourite computer game ever. I loved everything even the music and the corny story line. I haven't played any computer game since I was ten years old, I lost interest but Gods, still the original and best. Wonderful memories!

  • :O Just amazing game, i remember playing this whit my amiga 500 over and over again, untill i did know all the secrets etc.. Brings back some memories :)

  • Haha this is so cool. I remember every single bit of it. The sounds, the gameplay, the switches, the shop. Great! If you compare this to the gameplay we have now this is a joke, but back then it was great! :)

  • I used to love this game although I could never get past the third world, just wasn't as good as the guy here, although I had a bit of a short attention span when it came to games. I'd persevere for a while and then just move onto the next game. By the way the final boss is lame compared to the others, looks terrible!

Anyone remember if you tried to copy the original of this game or had a wrongly cracked version it would fail the Rob Northern copylock protection & was insanely hard to play!

  • OMG. A LONGRUN. Thanks...

  • How do you fill your inventory up all the way? I can never have one slot unused before I have to drop an item.

  • Noch eines meiner damaligen Lieblingsspiele, ich liebe diese krass gestalteten Jump & Run Games, habs glaub ich selber sogar 1-2 mal durchgezockt

  • Cool, I own the DOS version on a CD.

    XD

  • Castlevania Greek style

  • there's no in-game music?

  • @Alianger Interestingly enough the Genesis version did have in game music

  • @katakisLives Yeah, I played that first and was expecting it here. That one plays faster too, but it can be a bad thing in this particular game.

  • Ahh... such a good game.

  • What I always liked: The graphics and gameplay, there is so much to discover here...

What I never liked: The animation and scrolling.

  • @Chukkz2

That's always what bothered me about the Bitmap Brothers: beautiful graphics, great gameplay, but technically, they were huge lame-asses on the Amiga. 16 colour graphics and jerky scrolling, just like on the Atari ST. Wait... Gods actually has... A COPPERLIST IN THE BACKGROUND! WOW!!!!

  • This game, and the NES' "Battle of Olympus" are the two beast Greek myth-theme games ever!

  • wow that was an hour and a half quality spent I must say ))

  • Huuht

  • Really great graphics considering there are only 14 distinct colors used for the level, player and monsters together.

  • Go to abandonia and download this free and legal instead of a remake :) Works fine with DOSBox!

  • @Whesto

Its better if he uses WinUAE and the Amiga original :)

  • @cubex55 Yes indeed :)

  • this game polarises! many guys love this game but there are many amiga lovers that hate this game. i hate this stupid monotous game. but intro tune rocks! i also love the soundefects. but just take a look at the croppy movement animations and the gfx (grey/brown mix in 16 colors)....

as i mentioned, this game polarises

  • @sastasa

Yeah, but even those who dislike it must admit it's graphics's quality and character desig were top class.

  • @Vebinz NO! Graphic is monotonous. Grey in grey/brown.. Always the same. I like the dead effect if shoting enemies (this fire-skull or whatever).

  • @sastasa

The choise of colors is perfect for the theme of the game. THis game doesn't take place in a circus or a cyberpunk future, it takes place in mythical ancient Greece, and the colors reflect that well.

  • lol no music

  • I'd love to see someone try to make a remake of this gem

  • @FreewareReviewer

There is - google Gods Deluxe

  • I had the DOS version of this game, and there was always one thing that bothered me. If you waited long enough, they would show a demo, which played the beginning of levels 1-3 as well as the bosses. Yet, if you watch the demo face the level 1 boss, he had 3 fireballs, and not 2. It always made me wonder: How in hell do you get that 3rd fireball?! To this day, it's been a mystery.

  • I played this game all the time, it was hard at times too, I want to play it now.

  • i remember this game....very dull and boring unlike the bitmaps other games...speedball 2 was great..xenon 2 was good...but this..hardly castlevania was it..

  • any1 knows where i can get this game on my pc plss? tnx in advance

  • Read our channel FAQ :)

  • Shit on Emulator, buy a AMIGA. Only the real Machines are Cool.

  • could you ellaborate on that please? im not having a go, i just want to know what you think.

i know the amiga emulator is fiddly to get going but once you have, what difference is there in playing gods or any other game for that matter?

  • Well played.. I used to complete this game over and over back in the day. It wasnt til I returned to it ten years later that I found out how to do the speed run/hidden platform+button cheat on the first level. Fantastic game with so much going on under the surface.

Ive got a version for Snow Leopard on the mac but it uses Dos box so doesnt have the proper Amiga sound effects. Does anyone know of an Amiga emulator that works with Snow Leopard?

    Cheers

  • @flystatic

Use the amige ADF files on an amiga emulator! I use UAE with Hi-Torro (Frontend) for my mac with snow leopard

  • I played this a million times on my Amiga 500 but I never finished it. (at least not that I remember)

    And now I know why.

  • I grew up playing a version where the flying enemies didn't dodge your weaponry ...

The one I play on my emulator is just impossible - the flying witches keep dodging and I can't kill them. I can't even get five minutes into the game! :O

Anyone know of an ADF where the enemies are stupid style?

  • Incredible game.. makes me want to break out my Amiga. Thanks for uploading!

  • Sweet: this was a nostalgic brick in the face. Thank you for posting dude.

  • Boss

  • nice graphics

  • HELL! You got that elusive SNES tune for stage completion on the first run through World 1-1! That tune only seemed to show up rarely throughout the game, when I last played the ROM.

Kept reloading savestates just to get it to come up.

  • enjoy your life, it will last forever... very nice sentence :D

  • this was my number 1 game back in those years... and of course not to forget prehistorik2 :D

  • Completed this back around 95'. Id say it took me about two years to crack it.

    Great game, exceptional music.

  • Cheers!

  • This brings back memories!

Friend of mine had it, And i just tried it for 5 hours...! It was good..!

  • This game is to PC as Divine Comedy to literature or ninth Beeth´s symphony to music. A classic.

  • this game is an absolute masterpiece

  • The audio for this game is amazing. The Bitmap Brother's were awesome. Anyone know what happened to them?

  • the title music was done by bomb the bass under a different name

  • Nation XII, according to the opening credits.

  • Nation 12 also featured John Foxx (The original singer from Ultravox)

This track is on the album Electrofear as "Into the wonderland"

  • lol i remember watchin this game when my father played.

  • Nice game! A l'époque mon frere et moi meme étions fou de ce jeu et de la zik, qui me fait bien marrer maintenant

  • Man, this, comander keane and prince of persia...first 3 games i played...they dont make em like this anymore

  • Cubex,

When we were little, my brother and I were jealous of our cousin because he was the only member of our family to have an Amiga, and this game!

    I just love the music!

    Thanks for uploading this!

    *Hugs*

I'm going to look if you have Lonplay'd Eye of the Beholder on the Amiga.

  • I can totally relate to that story! XD except my cousin was jealous of my because i saved up for Turrican 2 before he did :p

    aah memories!

  • LOL :-p

This is going to make me sound really old, but...

They don't make games like they used to! :-p

    That's a F**KING fact! lol :-p

  • dude, im 16 XD XD XD

i played on the amiga with my dad when i was little, and i remeber that humble machine clear as day!

and my dad bought all the classics like alien breed, zool 2, turrican etc, and no, no modern game will EVER give the same feeling as the amiga did!!!

What an amazing machine it was, still is to me!

  • Duuuuuuuuuuude! :-p

  • Agreed mate!

  • How are you supposed to know what the switches do? I mean, probably 75% of them have no visible effect when you throw them. That's what I hated about this game. All those switches and you have no clue what most of them do.

  • I never worked out the ergonomics of how, on level 1 world 2, that orc monstery thing drops a spining bladed trap.

  • I love the way the hero in this game walks.

He walks like a man on a mission.

  • lol, hes a tank

  • Shit, that was well played! I like your Longplays.

    Greetings from Germany

  • Well you said i could be part of the 'gang' and then say that in fact anyone can be part of it. I thought you were really interested in my skills on Knight Lore

  • Its like this:

Anyone who takes the time to produce a quality longplay is interesting for us - especially for games no one has done yet :)

So in your case it would be great to see Knight Lore :)

  • I loved this, great music, gameplay, powerups and so on.. this really takes me back to the Amiga500-days :O)

  • The difficulty level does really ramp up, then there are those parts where you take a potion to give you a super jump and the platform is not accesable without it, so often there were situations where if you failed to do it in certain way or time you may as well quit because you cannot go on

  • man i love this game.bought it when it came out for my a500+.happy days!!!couldn't complete it though!!!kudos to you sir!!!

  • This has entirely changed my perception of the world.

  • Maybe you could upload HQ version sometime?

  • WTF?! 1.22.29?! Is it like, god mode movie or something? :D

  • Comment removed

  • YES!

I love this game, still do.

    I became a god ^_^

  • The last time I played this was about 17 years ago, I was up till about 4 in the morning, clocking it over and over trying to beat my mate's score. When I finally beat his score I had to get killed to register it, but I had that many extra lives I kept having to walk into the same monster!, it seemed to take forever!. Amazing game!.

  • classic one!

  • WTF? the time's 1:22:29 :O

  • What a great blast from the past. This is probably the first game that I ever finished as a kid

  • First one I completed was Blues Brothers.

  • Sehr sehr gut gespielt RESPEKT !!!!!

  • Sehr sehr gut gespielt RESPEKT !!!!

  • Superb game but i couldn't finish.

  • jinxxyy: i couldn't finish it either

i remember playing this like crazy when i was 6 or 7 years old. the year was like -91 or -92.

i haven't yet started to watch the longplay, but i can remember always dying on the dragon boss. the 3rd boss battle if i remember correctly

really a tough one. hardcore to the bone

  • @astagohai oh god i remember dying every single time on the 3rd boss... theres no strategy to beat him! I ended up having to stockpile lives to have a chance, which meant id enter level 4 with nothing.. i only got to the endboss once in many years of playing as a kid

  • tho having just watched this guy doing it.. it would seem am i wrong

  • Into .... the wonderful

  • This is one of the best retro games ever!!!!!

  • Huh, I never discovered all those secret bonuses on level 1. That's impressive

  • This is a classic..had it on the Amiga originally and then bought it again years later on SNES. Atmospheric, amazing sound, great puzzles..the Bitmap Bros were a class act. Anyone know what they're doing now ?

  • Awesome game by The Bitmap Brothers. A True Classic.

  • this game was kind of like caslevania only i forgot all about this game but never forgot castlevania :P

  • stunning game

  • This proves the existence of God.

  • @aeonandon lol

  • @aeonandon "this proves the existence of god" and that god was created by man;)

  • In one word "awesome"

  • The only thing that spoiled this great game was the jerky scrolling...

  • Check out the Bitmap Brothers homepage. They have maps for all secrets and tricks for that game.

  • Man, you could have died at least ONCE!!!

Death animation was sooo cool in this game, I really wanted to see it again!!!

  • Really? All it is is the enemy's death animation, multiplied several times.

  • Of course, but "enemy's death animation, multiplied several times" looks much better than "non-multiplied", especially when you hear that SCREAM.

  • classic!!!!

  • This is a great game. There is one thing I always hated about it though.. the way that it scrolls irks me. It doesn't start scrolling till you are super close to the edge of the screen.. you can never seen in front of you when you are scrolling.

  • FANTASTIC, well done with this classic game, i have completed it many times, but never at this skill level..now i play it all the time on my N95. pity the new version never appeared on the GBA it was supposed to be released around 2002?? but i think it never saw light of day, shame!!..

  • well done, i love this game and now i love it more. you've shown me so much stuff i've not seen before. 10/10

  • "Into... the wonderful. Into... the wonderful. Aaaa aaaa aw... Aaaa aaaa aw". One of the coolest Amiga songs ever. Bitmap Brothers are Gods!

ITA.: Una delle cazoni più fiche mai create su Amiga. Divini Bitmap Brothers!

  • i enjoy this played it a lot in its day thx 4 upload :)

  • one of my favorite games for the amiga ..thx so much for the upload

  • I've said it before, and I'll say it again...nobody draws graphic art like The Bitmap Brothers. Sly Stallone's grunt is forever immortalised :p

  • BEST PLAFORMER EVER MADE! I used to have fun finishing this game over and over again, but there r a few secrets and bonuses i never got, or i would get them and forget how when i would play again. I wonder what happends if u finish the game, and then refinish it on hard mode, any special endings????

  • OMG! A Perfect play. I was loving this game when I was a kid. So I excited when I saw this video :) Thanks for this solution video.

  • I love the music :D

  • This longplay is pure kickass!

Goes straight to my Favourites! =D

  • longplay forever!

  • That guy in the intro is RIPPED!

  • @JackiePaquito yeah, I think Kratos has got NOTHING on him!

  • Spectacular looking game, and even more so when you consider it used a mere 16 colors, of which only 14 were used to draw the level graphics.

  • One of the most awesome intro songs ever!

  • one of the best games ever! now i will finally see all the secrets i missed when i played this years ago x)
