  • this is untrue ya 3amy i lost 50kg with low metabolism 1 large meal a day bad diet bad seep patterns etc. in less than an academic year...

    =P

  • Ahh man nice advice. I'm not overweight at all, but knowing how it works is half the battle.

  • What you just said scares me alot, because over the course of 3 years I have lost 66 lb on my own, without a help of a nutritionist, I'm pretty much maintaining my weight, but the problem is, I am always on a diet mentally, I'm always always hungry, if a person has already gone down that road, lets say we change our diets to what you suggested, will you say the weight will remain off? because I don't want to gain any back just to change my eating habbits. and is the food you mentioned calorific?

  • @Oohsuger

Alot of the weight loosing is all a mind battle really. Sure it is the way your body handles food but will is an amazing thing.

  • @Rith9789 thats true

  • no pain no gaiin refers to muscle building....when you worck out..and the muscles start butning..thtas when you know your muscle is gooing in grouth mode...the brain realisesm its toomutch efort fore sutch a small muscle so it grows it..if u stop the second it burns then your brain says ok i dont need to grow that muscle ...and that how some work out 3 yers ang gain 2 kg of muscle and others worck 2 yers and gain 10 kgg of muscle..its the strangth of will...PS u got a point dude

  • @ARROWW13 muscles don't grow when they burn, on the contrary, when the reason why your muscles burn when you work out its because you are ....burning them!! you are destroying them. But don't worry, thats the idea, muscles actually grow when you rest. Thats why i, as well as others, advice to rest at least two days after working out. That gives them one day to heal and regenerate and another to grow. I wouldn't rest more than 3 days. For this reason workouts are spread out throughout the week.

  • I hour of exercise is equal to one candy?

What the HELL kind of candy do they eat in your country?

  • @AssholePatrol there's this wonderful science called chemistry. With a little background in it, you will realize how stupid your question sounds.

  • @MathGeekQ

I'm a Molecular and Cellular Biology major, with a 4.0 in my major. I know a hell of a lot about science. My question was rhetorical, and it was meant to point out the absurdity of his statement.

Calculating based on extensive research done by scientists, a person like me (170lbs) would output 12 metabolic equivalents during a one-hour jogging session at 8mph. In terms of calories, that's about 1000 calories. I was criticizing the absurdity of that claim he made.

  • @MathGeekQ

By the way, don't criticize those calculations. They're based on extensive research taken from measured CO2 outputs (relative to the atmospheric level of CO2 of course) by runners. The CO2 output is used to calculate the amount of oxygen being consumed in metabolism by the runner. They then can take that data and see exactly how much fat you can metabolize by consuming that precise amount of oxygen.

  • @MathGeekQ

My basal metabolic rate would be about 80 Calories per hour, therefore making the amount of calories burned during that one-hour jogging session roughly 920.

He leaves the definition of "One hour of excersize" ambiguous, as well as the definition of "One Piece of Candy".

I like snickers, so let's assume a Snicker is one piece of candy. The total calorie count in a snicker bar is 279. I'd have to eat 3-4 Snicker bars for the calorie count to equal the fat burned in one hour jogging.

  • @MathGeekQ

I'm sure with a name like "MathGeekQ" you'll be able to appreciate what I just did. You should learn to examine the nuance in people's statements before you go around making snide comments like that.

  • @AssholePatrol wow well that was totally unexpected. I suppose I shouldn't judge a youtube user by its name. I'm just a ...well a math geek, so don't think of me as a really smart guy. I congratulate you on carrying a 4.0 GPA in university, that's quite an accomplishment and something to be proud of. keep it up.

I have no biology background whatsoever, not even from high school, so pardon my ignorance in that subject.

I'm aware, however, of the concept of using MET to express the cost of

  • @AssholePatrol activities in terms of energy, usually kcal. And well no, can't criticize those calculations as they were obtained, as you said, from extensive research throughout years. But lets not forget that these are just average values obtained from samples. There's no way of calculating a person's specific MET or BMR by simply knowing the person's weight. This values are meant to be used, for the most part, for statistical purposes only. But they are good approximations nonetheless

  • @AssholePatrol for the average person. now, this video is aimed, in my opinion, to people with weight problems.... obese people. Their respective MET, BMR, and RMR measurements would be significantly different from that of a healthy person (which are were this standard values of MET were derived from) wouldn't you say?

I actually do not know, I don't have any biology background. Does it make a big difference?

  • @AssholePatrol btw, the only reason why can kind of sort of maintain a somewhat intelligent (?) conversation with you right now its because i was exposed to METs and stuff in some of my statistics classes.

if what i said its completely off...well then.... forgive my ignorance!

    btw, i'm Systems Engineering Major with .... not a 4.0 GPA :(

    i have 3.8

  • @MathGeekQ

My total GPA is 3.6, I'm a sophomore, you have me beat ahaha. I only have a 4.0 in my major (Bio/Chemistry classes). I get fantastically mediocre grades in classes like History.

Anyway, an obese person will most likely have to exert even greater calorie expenditures than a healthier person while working out, due to both having less efficient mitochondria and having to undergo more anaerobic metabolism during a workout (because of their high fat/muscle ratio).

  • @MathGeekQ

In terms of "Fuel" to ATP ratios, anaerobic metabolism has about one-sixth the efficiency of aerobic metabolism. An obese person will rather quickly enter anaerobic metabolism, making them burn several times more calories per hour than a person who is in better physical shape, so they'd probably be able to burn 6 or 7 snicker bars in a one-hour workout, making his statement even more absurd.

The problem now would be getting an obese person to jog for one hour, a near impossible task.

  • @MathGeekQ

BTW, I'm glad that you were able to admit that I had corrected you; most people won't change their mind in front of any one, that's very good.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on this guy?

  • @AssholePatrol I see... interesting stuff, thanks for answering.

And about changing my mind, thank you. I believe we all need to change. Only whats perfect doesn't need any change because...well its perfect.

I think of arguments as opportunities to educate people and to be educated. Most people simply argue on the basis of "you are wrong and i'm right" and attack the arguer rather than the idea he is presenting.

  • @AssholePatrol My opinion on this guy? Well... I don't think I'm educated enough in the subject to criticize the content of the video, but I can criticize the video as a whole. It seems to me that this guy is talking more out of experience rather than results from extensive research. In other words, it feels like he is talking too soon; he doesn't have (or use) experimental data or known facts to back up his claims.

  • @AssholePatrol Though a nice theory that makes "sense" to the uneducated person, I will have to dismiss it merely as an opinion from someone who appears to have some knowledge about the matter. He didn't prove to me what he said. His statements were unsupported, so I don't believe him. That's it.

    That's my opinion hehe

  • @MathGeekQ yea, good point.

Its hard to pick out who is telling the truth and what is just jargon

But like you said, just because it makes sense to a normal person, doesn't mean its true unless you have proof.

  • @AssholePatrol Wow, I was checking your channel out and .... I definitely chose the wrong person argue with about chemistry. Only I would get in a chemistry argument with someone who has a periodic table of the elements in his bedroom wall lol

Nice channel btw, I agree with many of your views on different matters.

  • How Dose This Guy Not Have A Million Views Yet

This is wonderful and I'm enjoying and learning from your videos. This technology is wondeful, and I'm so happy you are making videos, and sharing your knowlede with us. What a wonder.

  • errr could you repeat the part where you said the stuff about the things

  • Very Good

  • lmfao.... tit

  • LOL!!!!

  • what the fuck is this?

  • I agree with you until the very end. Don't think of 'food' as the enemy in general. We can hate the food that cause us hypoglycemia.

  • Woh that's a long description on the right, longest I've ever seen.

  • someone commented that there is a language barrier but very few people will understand what he means about hating food. That love of food is so real and it is done on a subconsious level and somehow there are tones to eat and the brain for a moment forgets what it just had giving false hunger. That of course doesn't happen to everyone but there are people who go up and down in weight and it is due to being in love for food and using food to fill out emotional issues that they have. Good topic

  • i just try to give my body all the nutrients it wants with healthy stuff like beans and brown rice n stuff, and excercise. he has some good ideas

    this guys rad!

  • he makes these informative vids and u can see he has good intentions and all u do is bash him, jackasses

  • Why do people have to be so rude? This is a person who is giving some of his time to help people. If you dont like it turn it off. Someone will greatly benefit from this knowledge and thier life will be changed forever.

  • A friend who lost a bunch of weight would "hate" junk foods by imagining them rotting and infested or filled with glass or something like that. I also knew a guy who put a plate of fudge out for a year and watched it rot until he hated the stuff permanently.

  • why?

  • hahahahahaha yea

  • I work with a dude that looks just like him! Man, this is ill.

  • I don't know why so many USa citizens have a problem with people who have more copper and hence melanin in their bio makeup. So what exactly in your biology makes you more than a man with more of this stuff. What exactly has the bleached white dude got other than a helping hand and the occoasional genocide.

  • Better than soda, prepare and ice tea, whit lemon zest and some ring of the lemons, this good anticancer, them add some club soda, and keep enjoying your super spiced dinner, i love this in my mexican food, everyday i eat super spicy chillies, dinner and this tea. super!!

  • yea chillies are gooooooood hehe

  • He sounds like an Indian doctor. It seems to make sense more or less. We all have different ways i guess.

  • I think there is a little bit of a language barrier, his ideas aren't that far off base, but some of the ways he expresses them are like its being translated from another language. Also the foods he is promoting are the ideas of a different culture. I wouldn't call it crap, its just not what you're used to hearing about in your own culture. His big idea is to change your thinking, so that foods you love that are bad for you, will not be seen that way anymore, hence you won't crave them.

  • barbixy

    you are absolutely right

craving of obese is just binging
