  • GREAT 50's SONG!

If I had to vote as to which "version" I prefer, I would say the Crewcuts win by a hair!!

  • Gotta love the classics. Two thumbs up.

  • @Potatoefries12345 More like a million thumbs up!!!

  • Best song ever.

  • I like both versions...but I actually like the Crew Cuts version better...it's just a matter of preference, not fact.

  • I'm listening to this because it was the number one song on the day that I was born. :)

  • @sandykmac I'm listening because I was born 9 months later!

  • i love this song OMG!!!!!!!

  • thumbs up to anyone who knew about this song before Cars. you have great taste in music!!!!!!

  • @mariaav887 yeah from Cry Baby ;)

  • @mariaav887 I remember hearing this song in the early 80's (when I was a little girl) on Cool 105.9 out of Orlando, FL... riding in the car with my dad from the auto parts store. :) I was pleasantly surprised to hear it when I watched Cars with my 6 year old nephew. (Ah, nostalgia....)

  • @mariaav887 yeah i heard this one when i collected some old cds few years back... i wanted to use the "Life could be dream" part at the start for some jungle tekno track : )

  • @mariaav887 i did and i was 6 when cars came out

  • @mariaav887 Clue! ;]]]

  • This is way better then the crew cuts!

  • And people are saying crew cuts made it first because they think black people are too stupid to, well black people in the old days made the good music, and they think that, because they racist, I'm not racist, I just don't like Obama, other black people that follow the law, I respect them

  • The chords made this first people, because there's one little fact, the chords started singing first, and made this song BEFORE the crew cuts, I heard the crew cuts version of this and let me just say, they FUCKED the song up, the chords did it right, crew cuts just like taking credit for it, crew cuts thumbs down, chords get BIG thumbs up

  • Life could be a dream = )

We could only wish right! I love this song. It reminds me of how things used to be.

  • C'mmon people! Dislike the guy who says he's only here because of that Pixar movie! How lame...

  • @EvilAnticsLive well they might be little kids so that means the song is still living on in the future generations. C'mon, thats good that Pixar put this song so little kids can listen to it and if they like it they can listen to it on youtube and the song will live on.

  • it's a tad harsh to say the crew cut's version is bad. because well, it actually isn't.

  • @hoppus104 The Crew Cuts version was the first one I ever heard, and I've been in love with it since...I grew up favoring music like this over the pop and rap my generation threw at me. This is the first time hearing the Chords sing this. Such a happy song.

  • @hoppus104 well, compared to this it is. don't get me wrong there are a lot of examples of white artists doing great covers of black music, but this definitely ain't one.

  • @hoppus104 All caucasionized versions of black music are awful. Musical racism is not win.

  • i like old doo wop songs where can i buy this on a old 78 rpm

  • what a discovery!!! Great Song!!!

  • as a true lover of music i would have to say i like both copys

  • I love this song! Cheers me right up thankyou cars lol

  • WOOOOOHOU !!!!!!! I finally found IT ! I LOVE THIS SONG ! Thank you Cars !!!! =)

  • This song needs to be way longer :)

  • I should this song in front of my crush

  • Yes, I remember this song from the summer of 1954, I was in Indio, California and the Cords sang it, later the Crewcuts did it. I like both versions.

  • Ryan and Esposito! Go Castle!

  • was this done by the chords or the coasters???? someone please answer! lol

  • I prefer the Crew Cuts version of this song, cos I do. I also prefer The Beatles version of Roll Over Beethoven, what? so Chuck Berry was black? fuck off. That's got nothing to do with it.

  • Life is a dream. It's ours! :)

  • Cars? Dolphin Tale? This will always remind me of Clue where they are pretending to make out with the dead people.

  • this is the original, quite simply it was re-recorded by the crew cuts because the record companies would be able to market it to the wider white population, and parents were angry they were not used to rock and roll or r&b at the time so the crew cuts version is slowed down.

  • When I heard it in Dolphin Tale I just has to find out the name of this song :) I saw Cars again yesterday and it was just in my head but I didn't know the name :p thank God for shazzam ;)

  • watching cry baby and it reminded me of this amazing song!

  • Thumbs up if knowledge in good music and your parents playing this in the car on long road trips to California brought you here.

  • Thumbs up if you are only hearing this cause you watched Dolphin Tale

  • This version of Sh-Boom, along with The Penguins' Earth Angel, were the very first R&B records to appear on the Pop Charts.

  • What's it like to have no musical taste?? Feel's GREAT! Thank you for asking.

  • I like randomly singing this in math class.

  • I just heard the Crew Cuts version of Sh Boom. & if I had heard only that version, I would have been pleased....no question asked. But I heard the Chords version & it makes you want to take to the floor & cut it up! It's Day & Night, Black or White. Whatever you want to call it, but both version have a total dffrent groove & vibe. One version makes you wanna snap your fingers & tap your feet, & the other one make you wanna TAIRDAHOUSEUP! It's all depends on how sweaty you want to get.

  • Crybaby lol I LOVE this song!

  • this is wonderfull

  • Thumbs up if you are only hearing this cause you watched Cars

  • @dylanlikesfood

Actually, I came to it after playing Destroy All Humans!

  • @DanielleandGIR sweet

  • @DanielleandGIR Cool

  • @dylanlikesfood I WATCHED IT BEACUSE MAFIA 2

  • @wildstein22 Respect

  • @wildstein22 Well good for you..

  • @dylanlikesfood I also listen to it because it's awesome. Any arguments against that? :D

  • @Fimbultyr No

  • @misterakan u mad bro?

  • alright. the crew cuts are just as good as the Chords. theyre song is different theyre music is different. its all good just listen to the music.

  • Anyone who doesn't find this song catchy has no soul.

  • I love the old days, but I didn't live in the old days I live in the now.

  • this is why i love vocal quartets

  • The 50s only if it was today. :(

  • When you're singing 4 part harmony & one person is out of key.. As a Musician, It bothers the piss out of me.. I love the bass in this version.. but other than that, I have to go with the Crew Cuts version... they simply nailed it !!

  • @Sambeaux777 Im not disagreeing to what you are saying but you are both right and wrong lets just put in that way

  • THIS is when music actual has feelings

  • There is only one "sh-Boom"...it's the Chords

  • Clue.

  • Cry baby

  • What year was this?

  • @TheJuicyfruitx 1954.

  • y u no HD?!

  • I can't believe so many people say they like the Crew Cuts version better. This original is the birth of rock 'n roll and r & b. It's so soulful. The Crew Cuts is just corny, sanitized, conventional, white bread barber shop singing. The Crew Cuts? Really? What's it like to have no musical taste?

  • @misterdirtyknees

I like both version, if you don't that's your opinion, so shove it elsewhere.

  • @gtamythmaster43 OK. Bend over.

  • @misterdirtyknees In the '50's white groups redid the oridinals so they were accepted but never done as well. Listen to Rocket 88 by jackie Brenston & Delta Cats then try Bill haley's version. I think I know which you'll like.

  • @boatops Right. We all know Little Ritchard did Tutti-Fruitti. But did you ever hear Pat Boone's version? Warning: You may need a bucket to throw up in.

  • @misterdirtyknees actually rock and roll was invented in the 1950s by a 13 year old :P

  • @misterdirtyknees Why the hate? They're still the same song! This was just the style at the time, a lot of 50s/60s music had a very similiar vibe. I love this song and the original and all the other old school r&b/soul/rock&roll songs!!

  • @misterdirtyknees I'm agree with you !

  • @misterdirtyknees The reason why is cause The Chords weren't allowed to be on record thus they the Crew Cuts do a cover in the fifties so every one who prefers the Crew Cuts is probably because they grew up listening to them. However I personaly prefer the Chords originaly

  • @TheWowkid16 How do you mean they weren't allowed to record it? They did record it in early 1954 before the Crew Cuts.

  • @misterdirtyknees the crew cuts is the original fyi and the crew cuts DO sing it better, so white if they're white? whats this, rascist now are we?

  • @HustlerMitch No it's not. The Chords is the original done in March 1954. The Crew Cuts did it a few months later. It was actually written by members of the Chords. Who said anything about race? I'm white. I'm racist against myself?

  • @misterdirtyknees Crew cuts was the original

  • @Flaaatt No it wasn't. The Chords did it first. Please try a little research. Maybe Wikipedia or something before you go on Youtube spouting inaccurate nonsense.

  • @misterdirtyknees I like both versions. Admittedly, the only reason I like the Crew Cuts' version was for its appearance in the game "destroy all humans". This version endures more; it's so much more... Well, as you stated, soulful.

  • @misterdirtyknees The Crew Cuts one sucked, this one is way better.

  • @misterdirtyknees I agree with you! It doesn't matter what people say. This one is original so it's automatically better. It's better to be original, than to succeed in imitating. - Herman Melville. With latin music also, a Spanish band named Alaska y Dinarama created one of the most known songs in the Spanish language "¿A Quien Le Importa?" then another star covered, and repopularize it among the new generations. The cover not innovative Sucks for the people who think it is; Same with this song

  • @misterdirtyknees Thats because thoes people are Nazi's and dont understand that black people made awsome music back in the day.

  • @misterdirtyknees everyone has his own taste, remember? everyone is unique.

  • @misterdirtyknees the crew cuts is the original not this shit

  • @gotitans456 Listen here, for Christ's sake; the Chords is the original. What's with all you people saying the Crew Cuts did it firs?. Do a research on Wikipedia or Google. It''s a known fact. An elementary knowledge of rock music history will tell you that the black groups nearly always did the original followed by the white groups remakes. Case closed,

  • @misterdirtyknees To be fair, many people are probably just more familiar with the cover.

  • Crybaby, anyone?

  • this is Music and talent, not digitaly engineered music we here today!!

  • So awesome man, Gosh I love old school jams. Music had soul. Something folks today lack, yeah its been said a hundred times but who cares. Im so glad I still have a chance to listen to this stuff :DD

  • Clue FTW

  • @2468legodude haha yessssssss, love that movie.

  • What is considered to be great music is constantly changing.

What never changes is the people complaining about "modern" music not being "real".

The classics seem better because time filters out all the stuff that wasn't memorable. In this day and age we have access to exponentially more music created by all varieties of artists from anywhere in the world. If you cant find music that is both "modern" and "real" to your standards, you haven't really looked for it.

  • @MrKatzekratzer that's a great way to look at it, very true:)

  • I love the music from 50’s to 80’s…… Music in these decades was REAL music because there is difference between great music and whatever is it you hear today. Which I call crap.

  • This is a faster version. Which of their albums have this version?

  • @RolandIXIXIXIEsteva Nope, the name of the song is Sh-boom

  • This song just made my day!

  • Back in the day where people had class.

  • You should listen do 'The Overtones' version it as good if not better :D

  • @jakwasere2k9 no, not really

  • great

  • Why don't they make music like this for my generation?

  • @RobertMcNamara11 Girl: can we have sex?

Guy: Bitch, shut the fuck up. That was never funny.
