With MAxxforce engine i have 300 LBS less then good reliable engine. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Why don't you look at yourself in the mirror. You are fat pig, go on the diet and you will see a weight saving of 300 LBS and keep a good old engine and not this PAPER BLOCK BUILT PIECE OF TRASH. Stop bending yourselves for the government, you spineless twats
I have a Maxxforce in a 2010 Prostar, and I can barely pull loaded up a 6% grade at 35 MPH. I get about 5.5 mpg fuel economy.
But, it is quiet I guess...lmao. Oh, and it has 23,000 miles and already needs a throwout bearing, a new axle seal, and is missing the storage bin in the sleeper.
@SomeRandomFeller Sorry to inform you my friend that Paccar's new MX engine is based on the European produced DAF engine. Unfortunately PACCAR has not had access to Detroit for awhile and CAT is not producing truck engines anymore so it's either Cummins or the DAF engine for PACCAR customers.
oh man,,i drive lumber truck out of menards, and i saw one of those checking out of the guard shack as i was walking into work..god damn it was quiet. he drove off and i couldn't even hear it if i wasn't actualy looking at it drive away.
This contraption has 4 rads on it...imagine hitting a deer or moose with that, could be very costly!!!
How can one engine manufacturer build a massive EGR engine with tons of heat (Currently a huge problem with all engine manufacturer's) and everyone else accross the globe decided it was a better ides to go with Urea? I guess all the other engine builder's are idiots and don't know what they are doing...
OK for a start this isn't a new engine!!!! Its a MAN engine and has been used in Europe for quite some time. Love the way INT try to make it sound like its there own!!!
You obviously lack comprehension or are hard of understanding, read again what I said. I never mentioned gas prices, I mentioned the pollution caused by diesel trucks.
Well trains emitt pollution too so I don't see the difference it'll make. And heres a question: How are you going to get goods to walmart on a train? I've never seen train tracks leading there before have you?
one diesel locomotive pulling 25 containers would obviously pollute less than 25 diesel tractors pulling a single 40 foot long container. They can have train depots where the trucks would load and deliver locally to stores within towns instead of long haul diesel trucks thundering down the highways and freeways over long distances, and cross country.Trains should be used for that purposes like in most countries.
instead of raising hell regarding topics you know nothing about, other than spouting off Diesels pollute more! No Shit! I will tell you one thing my friend have you read into the advancements in Diesel emissions reduction? If you had you would see that CATERPILLAR, CUMMINS, MERCEDES, AND INTERNATIONAL. Have all made advancements in the field. IE urea injection and or new exhaust gas recirculation tech. Newer smaller turbos with variable valving etc...
VW Turag TDI has been rated the most pollution causing passenger vehicle sold in US.
Mercedes nor BMW import any of their diesel vehicles because it does not meet the emission standards in most states. Mercedes pulled of their diesel Blue Tech sedan off the market last year.
Fucknut bullshit! read jalopnik, the blue tech or whatever the fuck its called Mercedes is naw back on the market! and fuk off ass ho ley o! its people like you who have fucked up the US fucking hippie!
you're just a semi literate hillbilly retard, you know nothing about nothing......go drink a beer and smoke a joint or something, talking to ignorants like you is like talking to a wall
Xiber1, perhaps fewer insults and a bit more confirmation of facts would work better. The Merc, BMW and VW diesels are all in the North American market. They all meet EPA Tier 2 Bin 10 emissions specifications. Merc and BMW (using Merc's system on license) us the AdBlue urea injection system in concert with a particulate filter, while VWs TDIs meet the specs without urea injection.
A bit of respect for other users would go a long way.
Also diesels use compression ignition, gasoline engines use spark ignition. Compression makes it a hotter burn. Ergo, a much more efficient burn than that of gasoline engines.
YOU ARE WHATS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY! You are also the reson navistar stopped making the 7.3, and switched to the 6.0 and 6.4, the less polluting solution. you SUCK
How the fuck do you think stores get there goods? Do you think this country have the money for a major rail overhaul? Newer diesel's are way more effiecient than gasoline engines! The black smoke puffing of diesel engines are over. Every new engine produced must meet government regulations! If they were as strict on gasoline engine manufactuters as they are on diesel's it would be a lot of company's out of business.
Go backto california, sit down with your hippie-freak friends, and cry about how many people throw stuff away insted of recycling while your deficite is so huge that it will take centuries to get out of it!
...Haha, I don't get it. Navistar took Caterpillar's technology thank you. Remember the powerstroke? They took the heui and meui tech from CAT... All engine corps are not doing well this damn epa shit.
Actually NO THEY DIDN'T. Get your facts straight. CAT developed it first. It was stupid to put HEUI in a small engine(7.3) anyway, no power at all, slug. I did like how no oil pressure means no fuel so it was fool proof.
maxforce sucks!!!

the whole bottom half is a Car , the head and system Is International. its supposed to be a real good engine and one of the best in fuel economy

Correct, they are not Daf engines, the big bore is based on the MAN D20. Daf supplies crappy Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks with euro engines.

I think what the snake meant was that his bus had either a Maxxforce 7 or a Maxxforce DT466.

Combustion efficiency is actually lower in Diesel engines.
Thermal efficiency is higher.
These Engines are not made by International. They are made overseas by MANN and rebadged.
