Thank you so very very much for this. Precious Teresa Teng understood suffering, the sorrow and joy of the heart and soul, as well as any one who ever lived. This poem and song left this old Texas cowboy with tears streaming, heart moved beyond words. God bless Teresa Teng, the greatest singer of all times. God bless her legacy, sweet humble spirit, matchless beauty, elegance, charm, angelic care for others. May we all find inspiration to follow her example. Blessings..
Thank you for your comment. This year, it's really strange. May 8th, 2011 is also mother's day. So I posted Teresa's song, "A mother's heart" as well. Two days later, I heard that an American Chinese fan of Teresa's who's become a good friend of mine through youtube, passed away on May 8th. He had been battling cancer for some months. In his youth he had had the opportunity to attend a dinner in Teresa's honour given by SB where his dad worked. He became a die-hard fan.
Dear Jeremy, I thank you very much for uploading this video to remember our lovely Teresa Teng in this May 8. It's so difficult to express with words what we feel in our heart of this great singer and beautiful human being......her heavenly voice, her genuine smile, her big eyes, her angel's face, her touching expression when sing a sad song will be in our memory forever.....we love you TT forever!!
@canaanoptical Jeremy...is the world is full of people like Teresa Teng and you, it would be a Paradise. Take care yourself as God is taking care of Teresa Teng up there!........
You are welcome. I have a CD of this song. The subsequent VCD and DVD (LD when first released) versions do not have the vocals of the various singers. Their respective recording companies could not come to an agreement regarding the copyright.
The line that reads, "It is cold being a star among a constellation" evokes the tragic loneliness that Teresa Teng no doubt often experienced and sometimes alluded to in her interviews. I can only hope that she found some comfort during her lifetime. One thing for certain is that she is still a beautiful star, shining brighter than ever.
My dear friend, thank you for sharing your insight. Indeed, she was very lonely. In her teenage years, when travelling to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, mom always accompanied her. Initially in Japan too. However, her mom could only look after her that much and she had a really full schedule. Much of her later years, in Japan, she was alone. Her younger brother was in the states with her for some time, but there was no man she could rely on. She was lonely.
What is the title of this song ?

Teresa Teng's literary talent is impressive. These lyrics are poetic, very moving and philosophical. Just beautiful.
