yeah man you always should do it urself if you know how. everyone else will try to rip you off. too many americans and drivers are too lazy or too dumb to do anything on their own. i'm glad you're not one of em. ur 330i's got a good owner. bmw ftw.

I own a 330i Sports and I recently had to take it to a dialer to replace an instrument cluster. "the thing that sells on ebay new for under $200. There are 2 screws hold it. it is a 2 minute job to replace it. My finance company ended up paying $1300 for this repair. The button line is, don't take it to the dealer. there are plenty BMW technicians out there that will never charge you 1000 dollars for a 5 minute job.

@aleksankazakov yeaaa it's pretty much the same for all cars/car dealers. not only those minor repairs, but also accidents and etc, if u take it to the dealer they'll rip you off so much. always go for the private-owned repairshop. their customer services are better and they won't rip you off NOT AS MUCH(still do) the dealers do lol.

@chickenpax1 couple of days ago, a service engine light came on on my BMW 330i. I knew it would be a simple fix. I went to Autozone and purchased 6 Bosh +4 spark plugs. Replaced the spark plugs right on the parking lot. 15 minutes job and $45 repair. A dealer will charge you five hundred or even more for the same thing. Even a private shop will charge no less than 200 hundred for that. I decided that i will do all the services myself. including radiator flash, and oil changes.

Altough i lov BMW, you gotta agree with me when i say the taillights are horrible!! But the new ones with some sort of "stripes" or lines on them are much more better!!. Anyway, BMW rocks & and i won't gonna buy a car until i can affor d a BMW!!!

BMW -Big Money Wasted, the most Rubbish quality car ever made on planet earth with tons of continuous problems coming one after another due to so much crap electrics and electronics used, very crap suspension, cheap plastics and rubber used everywhere, there always error light on !!!! @kentau123 if to think this way then everything is rubbish. THe most ridiculous car i ever owned was a Mitsubishi. That car was a real peace of crap. There were so many problems that if i list all the parts that i had to change, the list will go on for several pages. Even the damn cat converter had to be changed every fucking year. It was always misfiring even tho no mechanic can figure out why. BMW 3 is not the that bad. compared to the shitsu BMW is the best car on Earth.

@aleksankazakov I own a mitsubishi(stock) and i have been driving for the past 3 years racing every car from every traffic signal lol. and I haven't had any problems yet...except the paint comes off rather easily, but i knew of this bgefore i got it anyhow..what are the problems that u had? and which year/model? so i can stay away from that car?

@chickenpax1 I, still have it. It is 94 Mitsubishi Diamante. Mechanics say that that was a good car for first 5 years. I had all kinds of electrical problems. Like ignition, at one point they even had to make a button there for start. Transmission went out, radiator failed. replaced!! Starter was replaced multiple times, it burns oil even if it is five years old all the time so cat converter had to be replaced every year. Lancer is a good car, but it is not a luxury car like a Diamante or BMW.

@kentau123 Well... It is definately better than the new Civic hatchbacks, which are now made in England.. couldnt be a worse decision to establish a plant in England.. All Hondas that are made in the UK nowadays come with many defects.. And mine was one of them, and I ran into so many others who had different problems and continuous problems in their CRVs and etc.. those are made in the UK too.. Honda is loosing its Japanese spirit... It is so not Japanese any more.. except for the Type Rs..

i dont know why CARandDRIVER loves the 3series so much they keep it on their top ten list for more than 10years now... now you gonna tell me that in the past decade there was not even a single car to beat the 3series? i dont know about you but this is B.S.. looking at other car magazines and shows, the 3series wasnt on their top ten for more than a year. like Motor Trend, or Top gear, or Fifth Gear.... CARandDRIVER is really biast towards BMW and EU in general... thats why i dont buy you no more

@Nismoleb89 Car & Driver is like any other big company --- just out to make money---- if you dig deep enough you'll most likely find lot's of BMW adds in their magazines .I'll grant the 3 series is a nice packaged car but its not worth the price they ask or the ownership costs --- maintenance is a nightmare . dealers are arrogant , I could go on but whats the point ---- rather buy a Honda Civic rice burner -- than get raped by the German war machine.

BMW bought that POS back and I decided to step it up and I got the ULTIMATE....ULTIMATE Driving Machine....The All New 2010 BMW M3 E90 with 7-SPD DCT. Went from the slowest to the fastest car they make. It took 20yrs but I did it and it's so worth every penny. The only thing that scares me about this car is that I always want to push it every single time I drive it.....with the exception of when it's raining. FYI: The car at 135mph is as smooth as it is at 65mph. Unbelievable!!

@MrCartmansmom ---- I hate to burst your bubble there But I had 3.08 rear gears in the differential and my 440 -- 6 pack( 380 Hp.) Charger was only spinning at 5500 rpm at 145 Miles per hour there bucko. And I had it at that speed numerous times ----- a couple of times surprising some 308 Ferrari boys .

I also have a 325 BMW now ------I hang my head in shame and have had it --- to 260 kilometers per hr.

Please do not try to bullshit me .--------- I've been there and done it all .

@millwrightman99 No disrespect but Dodge and BMW is like comparing a nice 747-400 ( a Dodge ) to a F-18 Blue Angel ( a BMW ). They both fly and are smooth but I feel very confident at high rates of speed. You cannot get that feeling of confidence unless you have a Porsche, Mercedes, Buggati Veyron, perhaps an Audi. My first car when I was 16 was a 1971 Pontiac GTO that would blow away any M model and do 10's in the 1/4 mile. Though I got it up to 150 I stayed there for a few seconds out of fear.

@tomgunc -- I almost agree with you -- as I presently own a 325 BMW -- but I have also owned many excellent high speed american cars .The best example being a 1971 Dodge Charger with a 440 -6 pack that could hod a steady 140 without the hint of being un-steady .for as long as did not see the OPP on my rear view mirror.My bimmer is very good at high speed but the maintenance is ridiculous ---- even my old chev Impala could hold 120 mph all day long .Come on BMW is realy working their marketing .

My first BMW was when I was 19 yrs old. I bought a used beat up 1979 320i 5spd. Then I bought a VW Golf GTI which was nothing to scream about back in 1995. Drove that car from Chicago to Walnut Creek CA with no problem and bought an Acura Integra GS-R which was awesome......So I thought. My next car would be the slowest BMW they made at the time... a 2000 BMW 323i 5spd. Loved the car and kept it until 2007 when I got my 335i. That car had problems stalling because of the fuel pumps going bad.

BMW has earned the reputation as the German sedan masters. I have yet to actually really drive a BMW. However, the BMW reputation and the American love of the sedan car form makes for pretty steady sales. Audi is considered a kind of "BMW alternative" with a different interior and more "edgy" style though that is subjective.

haha the m5/m6 engine can have 600+ HP w.o limiters. but they limit the HP to 550. and 50 HP goes to all the computers and technology in the car.
