@roamingrino His 'Unplugged' album from the early 90's is a good start. This is from 'Sessions for Robert J' DVD documentary though which I really do recommend.
I love this guitar sound and vocal feeling. However, I think Roy Rogers is the blues musician whose style more closely, imho, resembles the intricate fingering and slide fusion so characteristic of RJ's style.I had never heard Rogers and when I did I thought, men, RJ reincarnated. Check it out and see what you think!
i've seen many cover attempts but Clapton, you rule. Its not all about your guitar playing, but you combine the vocals and guitar so great ! not many that have that fine feeling of blues playing.
the interview he gives before he plays this song is really interesting.. He admits he cant play it 100per cent right... he says the original RJ version seems like theres 2 guitars playing, but theres only one. he qoates" its a lifetimes work to get that right"

Is there a CD or DVD anyone can recommend with Eric Clapton playing acoustic blues like this?

The only thing better would be to see Johnson perform his songs in person back in the 30's.

He can afford to break a neck on a guitar. I'd use a damn capo instead.

Yes. But he uses very thin strings because you need to tune up.
