tell me why this is so similiar to the Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings theme, you know, the bit where Aragorn, Gmili and Legolas are running in the mountains on the Two Towers movie.
Disney released some great movies under the Hollywood Pictures label like The Sixth Sense, Crimson Tide, While You Were Sleeping, The Rock, Arachnophia, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. So sad it's closed now.
@BoyAmericaTV That's probably true. But when I was a kid growing up in the mid-nineties, it was a sure stamp of quality! I can't think of any film released from this studo that I still watch today aside from Tombstone.

I remember that logo, they later did the same thing with the new logo for Disneynature, because of the castle that was made out of iceberg. Disneynature was a clone of the Hollywood Pictures logo as seen here.

I think Danny Elfman composed this fanfare. He probably got 10 grand for 10 seconds of music.

Yes, it should be. It should be 1991 because "One Good Cop" and "V.I. Warshawski" have it.

Hollywood Pictures is dead now as a label, but at one point, Disney had at least five different labels for producing films:
Walt Disney Pictures
Touchstone Pictures
Hollywood Pictures
Miramax Films
Dimension Films (This one kills me. I love going around telling people "Hey, guess what? 'Scream' was a Disney movie!' :)
Hollywood is dead, Miramax split from Disney, and I think Dimension won back its independence. Touchstone as far as I know is still used.
Marbles471 4 years ago 2
Yeah, Scream's a great kids' film, isn't it?
phil402 4 years ago
Miramax is still with Disney. You mean Dimension Films split with Disney. Hollywood Pictures was revived years ago as Disney's Screen Gems label.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
I'd thought Miramax had split off from them. I know they just ABOUT to, recently. Maybe something changed at the last minute?
As for Screen Gems, that's not Disney---that's been an alternate label for Columbia Pictures, or various divisions of it, since at least the 1930s.
Marbles471 4 years ago
Danny Elfman compsed the music for this.

I think Arachnophobia was the first movie to use this logo, but I am not entirely sure. I do know that this logo first debuted in 1990.
Aubster06 4 years ago
Actually, this logo is from 1991. The first movie "Arachnophbia" had this logo in a box. So, this logo is from 1991.

It also appeared the same date the gold WDHV logo premiered.

Gabriel is right. It's 1991 because in 1990, it was in a box.
ShaDeed329 4 years ago
