As Indian economic boom continues, space research is getting more money. It has got $1.5 for this year. Remember, what it can do for US $1.5 billion, it takes for NASA $50 billion to do the same. That is the value for money. Now its goals and ambitions are on far with any leading space research. It attracts now best talent. There is some cutting edge reseacrch to develop very cost effective launch vehicle is going on. You will hear from them lot in 5-6 years.

Without much money support from Indian government, they built technology and satellites by great frugality. You can see how these scientist are dressed. Many of the first small satellites were carried by bullock cart and bicycle. That is the determination to succeed and execel with limited money they got from Indian government. Today, their satellites transformed Indian rural & distance education, tele-medicine and information tech.

I closely follow indian space research. Most of the people work for space research are come from 2nd and 3rd level universities with humble background. They are not from best Indian Engineering Schools like IITs. But these are dedicated and hardworking engineers who are happy to work for their country with a salary barely enough to make a decent life with a finely run organization

It may come as a surprise to him to learn that Canadians earn a lot more per capita from IT outsourcing than India does.

He says "I don't know what is more incredible, that there is water on the moon, or that India has launched a space probe". And the allusion to outsourcing to India.
