It's more to this sport than how good your stats are. Being a leader for your team and setting good examples ( like jordan, bird, kobe, magic) is what makes you a good player. Iverson was good, but he wasn't a leader nor a team player. That's why he's...well, wherever he's at these days.
@Klassickk Kobe does not set a better example then AI. He won DESPITE him being a bit of a dick. Do you know what Jordan, Kobe, Magic and Bird have in common? They played on completely stacked teams! Something AI never had the luxury of doing. Iverson had his career wasted because of injures and the fact that he always played on a shitty team. If AI played on the 2000s Lakers instead of Kobe or the 80s Bulls people would be talking about him as a top 10 player
I am forever an ALLEN IVERSON fan.One of the GREATEST OF ALL TIME behind only JORDAN, He comes before everyone else.THOMAS, BIRD, MAGIC,WALT FRAZIER,KOBE,ROBERTSON,WEST. On the BASKETBALL court there was only ONE better in my humble opinion.
Allen Iverson, never took minutes off, Always gave 110%.Was never afraid to go into the lane and put up his shot, despite all of the Bigger opponents who would hack him to death. He never
complained about the physical beatings he took in the paint. He always just let his Game talk for him. His game was definitely TOP 5 of ALL TIME in the NBA.He played with ALL his HEART, MIGHT, SKILL and PASSION. It is a shame that NO TEAM wants him. He is still better than 95% of the guards in the league today
@shiknara Ya Kobe has never done anything like that. AI may not be the best example for people but you really are a moron )or just a blind Kobe fan) if you think Kobe is any better
LOL, Shaq was like..Oh hell nah..oh that's AI. ok ok Miss AI! It would've been different if AI and SHAQ were on the same team (but not on the lakers) instead of idiot KB.
My parents have always told me if you don't love someone then you should not talk about him. just watch and mouth shut.I must be stupid to ruin my time to talk about someone i dont like ?so, Why, Why Haters still comments on he's Videos? Haters Now is yours Comments gainst What SHAQ say's!! AI whetever what Will Happend African People Still Love you from Day1 Georgetown!!
@eagleboy201 Yes!!! Im was thinking the same thing. You can have players that try to imitate Shaq and Iverson but in the end there will never be any players close to them
People just don't know Allen and Shaq wanted to play with each other so bad, and I think that Shaq and Allen would have been just as good or better than shaq and kobe. Allen could pass the ball it's just that he was the best scorer on that 6ers team so he had to carry the load on offense.
thank you shaq,he is really one of the greatest player of all time, better than kobe at his best.
and yes,i would easily say one of the top 5,but it's an opinion.
but besides jordan and shaq,i never saw a guy get beaten like A.I. by the defenses all his career
but i would definitely say that since jordan left he is the greatest player that came into the game even know a lot of young guys(thanks to the media and the nba establishement) don't know about that.
Iverson brought the hip-hop culture to NBA in the 2000s. He was the first to rock the braids, tatoos, earrings, jewelry, etc. However you may feel about it, Iverson has had a profound influence on the game and how people perceive it.
If these two played together, they would have won a championship almost every year and the media would have said Iverson > Kobe ... if people really understood how much of an influence the media has on them :-(
@pennyccwai And it's looking like the new generation has o respect for him anymore. All I hear now when I read the comments on his videos is that he was a selfish player and that's why he never won a ring, when in reality he never won a ring because for 10 years his best help was Eric Snow who has never been an allstar type player, and then Melo who rarely ever passed or put the bull on the floor before taking a shot and they decided to choose over A.I. as the primary scorer.
Guess I should have specified my point. Iverson was the first player in the hip-hop lexicon to have these things. Rodman's never embraced or been embraced by the hip-hop culture. Jordan has, but he doesn't return any love to the hip-hop community. Can't think of a guy who walked to the arena with the big chains, braids, hood entourage, etc before Iverson. Before him, guys in the NBA were basically closet rap fans, due to trying to uphold a certain image for endorsements.
@WillMorebucks Yep. Iverson was the first guy to rock the tatoos, the braids, and the jewelry and make it cool. Now everybody has that stuff. He epitomized the NBA in the late 90's and meshing it with the hip-hop culture like you said. Jordan was corporate America. Iverson repped the hood.
@Antrizzle2009 Just like how Jordan got his shorts tailored longer and wore nike shoes and then every player in the NBA did it too. I also remember around the time A.I. got his hair cut off every other nba player cut theirs off too.
@blacktee31 you've got to be kidding.stern gave hime fines all his rookie season for the way he dressed on the court(baggy short, socks whatever.).all his career, there was always a problem with iverson(his friends, his attitude, his rap CD whatever...).
stern made big money over him but i don't think he liked him.
@lionelangemario Yeah but those are the rules. You can't let stuff like that just slide. I do remember reading in the biography "only the strong survive" that Stern called him Jordan in a 6 foot package, though that may've been someone else.
@pennyccwai That is complete bullshit. I'm a diehard Kobe fan. But Allen Iverson was always my second favorite player. How can you not respect his heart and toughness. I just always argued that Kobe was better, even back then. That does not mean I do not respect Allen Iverson. He is an all time great, and first ballot hall of famer.
@betamturewno24 no way Kobe was better than Iverson back then. Yes obviously now cuz Iverson isnt even in the leauge anymore. However Kobe and Iverson are the two best players after Jordan
@pennyccwai Preach... the streetball influence was all over the league and the streets was into the NBA like no other time in history, and AI was the face of it! Over the next few years the politics of the league would slowly destroy the street influence and ween out the players who represented it! Jordan was on his way back and that's what they wanted again so once they controlled then eliminated the so called thugs of the league they anointed kobe fuckin bryant as the next jordan!
@pennyccwai Kobe fuckin bryant can definitely play ball, but the corporate machine that is the NBA has really shoved him down our throats! There's a reason kobe didn't wanna play for charlotte. He woulda ended up another AI, barkley, malone, ewing, dominique, or any other great who never won a title!! He forces their hand to trade hime to the corporations team who's been buying titles since day 1 and noone says a thing.... KOBE = POLITICS, IVERSON = REAL DEAL
@pennyccwai Kobe fans go over the top man i like kobe and i think its great but people from L.A treat him like god he dose a simple dunk and eveyr one gose crazy i think there just scared of the face hes getting old or something
@pennyccwai true, i remember the day when everybody called kobe a ballhog, rapist, self centred, cocky piece of shit, now lebron has taken that role, quite funny really because i'm just wondering who's gonna take that role after lebron, personally i think it will be blake.
kobe had a good team
AI had a shitty team
thats why AI got no ring
but kobe did
