Man, every time i listen to this song and that fucking riff goes of i can feel the cosmos tremble from it's power.

  • Thanx for the translation

  • LOVE THIS SONG & LOVE BEHEMOTH! GREETINGS FROM GREECE!

  • Thanks for doing this. I really like knowing the poem behind the song. The imagery in the "controversial" video that goes with this makes more sense now. I appreciate when people test the limits of their artistry. Thanks again for your hard work in translation!

  • perfect song!!!

  • That was an amazingly poetic translation. Well done.

  • So like your translation. You should print a book on the poems of T. Micinski. :)

  • thanks for translating

  • Hey! Good job with the translation! Really great video, and awesome song ofcourse(:

  • 2:45 not just a music song

  • Comment removed

  • Evil song most wont understand what it all means but I suggest study your scriptures. Woe unto all who love such things for the torments mentioned in the lyrics shall befall ye.

  • man, i really want to congratulate you for your stunning translation..i´ve found few translations of this song, but yours reflects the meaning of the lyrics 100%..anyways..the most powerful song of behemoth.. \m/

  • sounds bitchin man really huge sounded to it

  • @misfitugly .....what?

  • @McDonough22 like it a nice sound to has more of live sound then an studio sound

  • i never understood the lyrics till now.

but thanks to both translations (from mcdonough and from patrick) i now understand why this song always sounded so epic.

    cant wait for the video!!

  • W sumie nie wiadomo, o co chodziło Micińskiemu --- "dzwonem północy" zwano też metaforycznie łabędzia niemego, który według legend wydawał z siebie jedyny odgłos podczas agonii ;)

  • "Like the hollow bell of the north"

wydaje mi się, że w tekście bardziej chodzi o midnight

  • I think my translation is better (not so literal, more poetic) - Micinski's Lucifer is in fact the Miltonian Lucifer so we must use Miltonian style:

  • @patrickohooliganpl

    Stanzas 1-2

I am - who through the gales dark flame Divine

spreads with the hollow northern bell's deaf agony

Who through dark mountains lights the red dawn's shine

fro' sparks of pain and star of lethargy

I - king of comets - yet swirls my spirit violent

like desert dust a pyramid of wind

I - storm of thunders - yet more than grave I'm silent

    hiding my tombs' morbidity within

  • @patrickohooliganpl

    Stanzas 3-4

I - rainbow abyss - yet would bewail my sorrow

like chilly winds play withered reed on lakes

I - glow of aethnas - yet through the miry plains

mourning and dull as funeral I follow

The oceans play their harps - swirl fires of Paradise

make the Sun - my enemy the Sun - praise God and rise

  • @McDonough22

    @patrickohooliganpl

    My translation from pl.hum.poezja newsgroup

  • Polish language and this kind of music go together pretty well.

  • the guy who disliked this is a real retard!

  • Hey all, just dropping a note here that I included a more literal translation of the song at the bottom of the video description, for those interested in the actual meaning of the words.

  • Good job. It preserves the meaning, the rhymes, the language register and the overall mood. Are you a trained translator/ philologist /linguist or just a natural talent?

    BTW, great song!

  • @IntangibleUser Thanks a lot! I'm a student of English philology and I do poetry/song translations between English, Polish and German in my free time. More as a hobby, really, I'm not a professional. :)

  • "Get Well Soon Nergal!!!

    Greetings From Philippines!!!"

I subscribe to your opinion, Philippine friend! )) Wish you Great Healing, Nergal!.. Greetings from Ukraine!

  • This band kicks as*

  • I like this lines how Nergal says this on recording:

Na harfach morze gra -- kłębi się rajów pożoga --

I słońce -- mój wróg słońce! wschodzi wielbiąc Boga

    so powerful, so immense.....

    Get Well Soon Nergal!!!

    Greetings From Philippines!!!

    \m/

  • @htennekipanac1993 Actully, it's not Nergal that says this, but one Maciej Maleńczuk doing guest vocals. My theory is that Nergal is physically incapable of producing non-growl singing vocals, so they needed to hire someone else :D

  • @McDonough22 Oh...

    Okay.

    Nice translations anyway!

Can't understand whats the whole story of this song but it still rocks to me, if you can tell to me.

    xD

  • @McDonough22

sorry but you are wrong about Nergal being unable to sing clean - watch?v=ar73j7QUchY

  • @htennekipanac1993 he dont sing that part bro thats the completely other guy but hes awesome too

  • Now that I know the lyrics I definatelly like/apreciate it better. Great piece!

  • AND SUN-MY ENEMY,SUN!!!!

  • lol now i know why i couldnt understand a word first xP

    nice job mate

  • Satan is Nergal's Bitch

  • My fav song of Evangelion

  • Does Polish also have implicit-subject like in the Spanish language?

  • @VampirePraemium Yes, though there are not many cases of it in this particular poem. One example would be line 12, in which "Idę" translates into "I go", even though it simply says "go" with an implicit subject "I"

  • good job!

  • Świetna robota :)

  • i must compliment you on your translation. it's excellent. i started translating the poetry, and, i couldn't have done a better job myself. you write very well.

i know the spoken word is malenczuk, but is nergal still doing the growls?

  • @IvanKaramazov78 Yep, he does. At live shows he growls the first half then they put the rest on playback.

    And thanks, by the way!

  • this music is very relaxing

btw good job with the vid

  • Awesome vid!

  • I like it so much

    these words are pure

thank you for your great translation

    I bow to you \m/

  • Great video. Thanks for the translation.

  • Excellent job brother! \m/
