Wtf? Actually read a real results road test ? Clk55's with new tires get 0 - 60 in 4.5 no launch necessary. It's 3,459lbs with a full tank of gas and no passenger. An m5 weighs. Roughly over 3,900lbs and it's a manual so u need to perform a perfect shift on all gears to get the most out of it and sad thing is like all m cars it lacks torque and a vehicle that heavy lacks too much torque to get a decent 0 - 60 time, truth is the best recorded stock e39 m5 0 - 60 is 4.9 seconds so no I believe
No way in the world a STOC 2001 351 hp 4000 lb CLK55 is going to beat a 2003 400 hp 3900 lb M5 STOCK and with DInan softwarre maybe 410 hp... Never going to happen... THE CLK55 did 0-60 in 5.4 sec that year & the E55 amg did the 0-60 in 5.3 sec... While a stock 2003 M5 did the same 0-60 in 4.7 sec
@08turboSS If you cherry-pick like you did & quote the fastest times for the M5 & slowest for the M5, it's one thing...but if you do the reverse, you get 5.0 for the M5 (Road and Track) & 4.9 for the CLK55 (Car & Driver). Also, M5 weighs 4000 lb, not 3900, W208 (2001-2001) CLK55 weighed 3450 pounds with 349 hp. Fact is, both cars have same hp/weight ratio, it's a very close race between the two. My videos tell the tale, and both runs were witnessed by many at the airfield where it was run.

@08turboSS Are you blind, or what? I have 4 videos of me pulling two guys, two times each. Search the Bimmerforums M5 forums, and you'll see the guys I raced verifying the runs. CLK55 is *very* hard to launch without spin, it's lighter and has thinner tires than the M5, but more torque. Mag guys couldn't get it out of the hole as well as folks with experience, stock they've run as fast as 13.1 at 109, plenty of examples of them pulling M3s and M5s.
Hi! I also have a CLK55, I never did a drag race from stand, but on higher speeds both the M3 E46 and M5 E39 are faster, though slightly. I only could overtake a M3 Cabrio once.
But the 55's have better sound from outside, though inside BMW's V8 sounds better in my opinion))
My experience is quite the opposite. These runs were 0.4 miles (0.64 kilometers), both standing start and rolling, and I won all four races. Also, I ran E46 M3s repeatedly in that car at very high speeds, and would walk them each and every time. The E39 M5s are faster than the E46s at speed, and will hang with the CLK where it would be pulling the M3.
In any case, I no longer have that vehicle, I now have a CLS55 AMG. :)
Nice choice! The supercharged engine must be just crazy!
I met M5s and M3s couple of times on the autobahn and M5 was definately faster - maybe i'm just a bad driver)) Or my legs are to short to full throttle)
M3 could only overtake from the wind lee behind me. Me, on the ither side, could only follow him but not overtake. And M5 E39 was just uncatchable))
But I have to say, that the 19' rims influence the straght-line performance in remarkable bad way. I'm sure, i would overtake a M3 with standard 17' wheels.)
I do love the supercharged motor, it is scary fast! It is an amazing car.
The 19" wheels would definitely hurt (particularly if they are heavier), and depending upon overall diameter your effective gearing ratio could also be adversely affected.
My results are not atypical from what I've read both in AMG forums and in M forums....but there will always be variances.
LSD is nice! My CLK55 did not have it, and with that much torque this is not a good thing on a fast corner! However, my CLS55 has the 030 Performance Package, which does have LSD, and it is much nicer in this regard....why Merc doesn't make LSD standard on *ALL* AMGs is beside me. Oh, well...
billynosurrender, I removed your immature rant, but I can assure you I'm a big AMG fan (which is why I posted the video of me, DRIVING MY CAR, beating four M5s. Also, your rant was correct about one thing: I no longer own a CLK55 AMG, I replaced it with a CLS55 AMG. Later...
The new body-style M5s are 500 hp and would beat me, but the old ones were 400 hp and weighed 4000 pounds, so they were 10 pounds per hp, same as my car (3450 pounds, 349 hp).

Thanks mate!
And I think about buying a M5 E39, due it has a manual gearbox and LSD - some nice features))
