Well technically men do have a higher authority than women as stated in scripture. A woman should not usurp the authority of her husband as Timothy states.

hmmm...i could see the word "lady" being derogatory if maybe you dropped your voice an octave lower and said "llllady" in a style similar to that of ron burgandy...MAYBE

Thats not a problem with the word. Thats a problem with the tone. They say, its 10% what you say, 90% of how you say it.
