Actually, it is. You might want to look it up. A large number of highschools included marksmanship in their curriculum and either had on-campus ranges, or used a nearby range. Same went for colleges, as well.

You can ban guns but if I'm not mistaken, marijuana, caocaine, heroine and meth have been banned, right. Hmm, that really worked. We need guns to protect ourselves from the drug infested maggots that will rob and kill for a fix, whether using a gun, knife or whatever. Don't like guns? Don't buy one but leave mine alone.

Ted's a master of monologue. Watch him in dialogue sometime, though. If there's another voice in the room, he doesn't always appear to be very clear-headed. Love his music, love his cartoonish personality....but he might have a hard time listening and making consensus. Total deafness in one ear, and near-total deafness in the other may be a factor in this, eh?

Consensus is the opposite of leadership. I have no problem with someone's inability to reach a consensus as long as they're right and effective. This is why you never want a congressman or senator as president.

I'm trying to find anyone of any legitimacy besides us who thinks Nugent's even relevant. Why is it that we're mostly white males between the ages of 13 and 40? Ted places too much emphasis on personal freedom, and overlooks the needs of society as a whole organism. The good of the individual can't be placed above the good of society. Personal firearm ownership is low on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, bro. Face it.

Your problem is your perception of gun owners. Actually, most decent, law-abiding gun owners live by "shoot last". I'm a firearms instructor and I teach that the gun is a tool of last resort. We teach peaceful dispute resolution and hand to hand disarming tactics. Retreat is a preferable option to shooting someone. The criminals and the backwoods bubbas are a different story.

You're part of the solution, bro. Gun education should be taught in high school. Whether or not guns are in the public--that's a moot point. Ignorance about guns and how to use them--for folks like me who lean toward rooting guns out of society, and for those who would use them if they had them--that ignorance is the problem.

Thanks. Obviously, I'm an avid 2nd Amendment rights supporter. My students reflect on me and every other CHL holder. When a permit holder does something stupid, it makes us all look bad. Fortunately, CHL holders have a very clean record. We have the occasional idiot, but they are few and far between. We advocate responsible gun ownership as a means of self-defense only. The bad guys will always be here. We don't have to take it lying down, though.

My cousins went pheasant hunting. One of them was a Canadian, so they used another guy's ID to get him a gun permit, so then they went into the field. That guy shot my cousin's friend. He only got a single pellet in his chest, only to 1/2". Dumb. Lucky. Dumb.

Up until the 1960s, gun safety and marksmanship WAS taught in public schools. Nearly half the highschools in the U.S. had shooting ranges where students would shoot .22 rifles, learn gun safety, respect and responsibility.
The liberals' desire to protect us from everything that might harm us is depriving us of the very things that once made us strong.

How did guns make us strong? When we came here--to America, I mean--we were bound and often at gunpoint. What do you mean, "Once made us strong?" We only recently have gained freedom to own businesses, own homes, be hired--what were these things that once made us strong you refer to? I respectfully do wonder.

I'm referring to the fact that guns were part of our lives and we respected them. We respected each other. Guns are now taboo and crime is going nuts. People don't respect or even understand the responsibility of gun ownership anymore. Guns are now some evil, mysterious object with a mind of their own, rather than just another tool.

Fortunately, only 1% of all the guns in the U.S. are used in crimes. The media has a field day with every gun crime. It's much like child abduction. In 2005, there were over 3000 child abductions. Of those, only 151 were actual non-custody related abductions. If FoxNews and CNN carries each abduction for 2 days, we see child abductions on the news almost every day of the year. It skews your perspective.

Hm. "Consensus is the opposite of leadership." First you might want to back that up. If we're talking about a fascist dictatorship--which only works in the case of an omniscient leader may not require consensus. But isn't the essence of Democracy gathering consensus? I really like Ted, but his relatives roll their eyes when he starts on his rant. We all do--he's a great, fun, guy, but not really leader material. You really have to not bulge your eyes out and do a nutty laugh if you want to gain the trust of the diverse constituency we have in the good ol' USA. Besides, Ted becoming the legal guardian of his underage girlfriend so they could keep up the shaggin'.... didn't you get enough sexual chicanery from Clinton?

Ted's a great musician who peaked about 1979. I prefer it when he speaks more openly about his own sexual addiction and apparent control issues. Beyond that, he's more quasi-political entertainment, it seems. Or at least that's how society deems his spiel. Don't you think so?
