The 3/5ths clause meant that slaves were 3/5ths of a constituent, not less of a human. If justice had been served, slaves would not have been constituents at all because it would give more representation to the slave holding Democrats who would not allow their "constituents" to vote. During the drafting of the Constitution, the Federalists argued that the Democrats were counting slaves as constituents while holding them as property. they threatened to count their own property as constituents as well. That meant their cattle, their chickens, pigs etc. Democrats disagreed, so they compromised for the sake of getting the document ratified. So which would you rather be, the 3/5ths in favor of slavery, or the other 2/5ths against it?
Yes, it was a fundamental difference between Federalists and Anti-Federalists. The Federalists wanted the Constitution to make slavery obsolete, and their counterparts wanted it to guarantee slavery.

Who were the GOP politicians that supported Apartheid? Many people also claimed that Abraham Lincoln was a racist too. Although Lincoln said he would not try to abolish slavery, he was anti slavery, and as President, he did not have the power to do so. Only Congress can do that. Lincoln was holding back his rhetoric so that he would not lose three key border slave states to the Confederacy during the Civil War. One of those states was Kentucky, where he was from. Lincoln was a "scalawag".

The 3/5ths clause meant that slaves were 3/5ths of a constituent, not less of a human. If justice had been served, slaves would not have been constituents at all because it would give more representation to the slave holding Democrats who would not allow their "constituents" to vote. The Democrats in the Supreme court said that the "Negro has no rights to be respected by a white man, and slavery was his "benefit". (Dred Scott) Maybe you should read it Tom.

During the drafting of the Constitution, the Federalists argued that the Democrats were counting slaves as constituents while holding them as property. they threatened to count their own property as constituents as well. That meant their cattle, their chickens, pigs etc. Democrats disagreed, so they compromised for the sake of getting the document ratified. So which would you rather be, the 3/5ths in favor of slavery, or the other 2/5ths against it?

If you understood, you would not have counted slaves as constituents at all. Better yet, you would have insisted that they have the right to vote. Oh I forgot, the Republicans did that with the 15th amendment. democrats in the south and the north opposed that amendment by 100 percent. They started the KKK to stop the Republicans who were actually electing black people to Congress beginning in 1866. Democrats took until 1972 before they elected black people. More than 100 years.
