Instead of focusing on print ads, the FairTax folks really ought to focus on getting these videos on national TV stations - especially during reality shows.
Wait, then why would you tax those basic necessities in the first place? If you're gonna give all the tax money from, say, food purchases, back at the end of the month... why tax the food at all?
If the government picked what was tax free (ie. a brand or food group) they would essentially be forcing the poor to buy those things. As they would only get "help" if they bought those things. (much like the current WIC program). But if you give everyone their "taxed money" you let them choose for themself what they want.
@azzmiller666 It isn't about "getting taxes back from ANY food they buy", it is about you as an American citizen making choices for yourself; it's about keeping the gov't from telling you what you can (or cannot) eat or purchase with your own money; and it's about not allowing the gov't to pick winners (and losers) when they tell you what you can purchase tax-free. The prebate gives everyone that freedom. A freedom that we had over 98 years ago but lost to income taxes and deductions.
One point I would make is the need to simplify the Tax Code. Tax all purchases and provide for a PRE-bate every month the amount of which would be made to everyone based on income. This makes the fair tax non-regressive and fair to all. The most needy would get the most pre-bate and the wealthy the least pre-bate. All taxes unfairly burden the least wealthy as it is the most regressive.
Some of the problems we face are endless exemptions and their resulting complexity as well as the power corrupt politicians get from handing out tax favors to lobbyist.
The prebate is only a dollar value that covers the taxes one one spends at a poverty level consumption. this covers your basics, food, shelter, clothing. Poverty level spending is determined by the census burro.
Why not untax food? good question. it would certainly lower the overhead on Hugh Hefner and Snoop Dogg's parties. and I would be able to make a killing off of the catering business. Exemptions provide loopholes. By running with a prebate and no exemptions we reduce the ability of anyone taking advantage of the tax system.

FairTaxHUB is meant to push the FairTax conversation forward. The FairTax idea is powerful and would revolutionize this country economically and by extension socially. The current system is punishing work ethic and ambition...the very things a slowing economy needs more of. We at the HUB are not focused on what the tax percentage is or if government taxes its own services. Its the overall idea we need.
I agree. I wish everyone would take the time to read the FairTax Bill (Plain English Version). You can even download it to your computer. I did. My wife is a CPA and has a Masters in Business from Duke University. She loves the FairTax. Her bother also has a masters in business from Duke and a law degree from WVU. He's currently a deputy attorney general, although I can't mention the state here. He specializes in tax. He loves it also!
All FairTax supporters need to have these talking points down pat. Those who are able should join Toastmasters, and start promoting FairTax to local businessmen and women.
I'm a FairTax volunteer in Virginia. The FairTax will be an improvement to everyone, over the current system. Granted, some will see a better improvement than others, but it's simple and requires very little "overhead" to operate. There will still be entitlements if politicians still want to buy votes. The entitlements just won't complicate the tax system for us working folks.
Make the rich and those getting paid under the table pay. It's time the middle tax payors got relief from paying thier taxes! Take that drug dealers and pimps!
