I had just discovered Ray's music about 4 months ago. His music fills a componet or a void in me! His lyrics combined with the dilevery is beyond poetic. He reaches anyones soul with the song, "Be Here Now". What a true inpsiraton to all Artist of all kinds regardless of the medium.
I listened to this a lot when my partner went to India. We had some problems. I wished that he would appear right before me so we could embrace and wouldn't let go.

I can go to the ocean side, or a walk in the Redwoods and his voice lets you re-live those specail moments because of the tone, and in some cases letting space to breathe while listening. Keeping in mind that there exists not one bad song of Ray's, the actual music used in this song is the same or almost the same as "If I Needed Someone" written by George Harrison, as performed by The Beatles on their "Rubber Soul "album.

See, the thing is that Ray Lamontagne is a true artist, not a musician. To be a true artist, you need to get everything right: the lyrics, melody, etc. Not only does he get everything right in this song for a truly moving piece, the lyrics he writes are incredibly wise. This is at the same time philosophical, and the epitome of artistry. Fantastic song, I can't say enough about it.
@dommy24 I don't believe true artists like Ray work in the confines of right and wrong, saying he gets everything right sounds, to me like that is his intention. i don't think ray strives to get "everything right" I think his process is more natural and intuitive and thats why its rings so deeply within ourselves - it comes from a place of soul. true art is boundless timeless and limitless, without rules, Ray has got it in spades.

I first heard it in the trailer for the Sarah Polley directed film "Away From Her," (starring Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent) and was instantly mesmerized.

See, the thing is that Ray Lamontagne is a true artist, not a musician. To be a true artist, you need to get everything right: the lyrics, melody, etc. Not only does he get everything right in this song for a truly moving piece, the lyrics he writes are incredibly wise. This is at the same time philosophical, and the epitome of artistry. Fantastic song, I can't say enough about it.

@dommy24 I don't believe true artists like Ray work in the confines of right and wrong, saying he gets everything right sounds, to me like that is his intention. i don't think ray strives to get "everything right" I think his process is more natural and intuitive and thats why its rings so deeply within ourselves - it comes from a place of soul. true art is boundless timeless and limitless, without rules, Ray has got it in spades.
I Agree - Ray is a true artist and this is an incredible piece.

From the comments I'd say it's pretty clear that when it comes to Ray you either love it or you hate it. Personally I can't imagine not liking this...with all the pop crap and prepackaged crap we are subjected to, this is a light in the darkness. Oh and by the way everybody.....BE. HERE. NOW.
