one of my favorite moments of big cypress (only my 3rd show, how lucky am i?)...never seen a crowd so amped after a set! as we were walking back to the campground, a wave of cheers kept rippling through the herd, just like the wave at a baseball game. f-in unbelievable, and somehow i never saw it coming. "we'll see you right here, after midnight"...thought i was gonna die of happiness! this show trails only my wedding and the births of my kids among the high points in my life!
It was the afternoon set before the 7.5 hour set. WAs the teaser leading into it, perfect pick. I was there...everyone went nuts. Ridiculous festival.
Remember how intense the crowd was leaving this set! Fireworks going off, champagne bottles, people yelling ; man i had one hell of a time at this show!!!
I remember watching part of this set from the top of the ice block pyramid they had built out in left field. Every memory of BC just puts a huge grin on my face - one of the best long weekends of my life!
this was and is possibly one the greatest phish moments for me... just knowing they were coming back for an all night set and all of a sudden they break into this... fuckin' sweet... whenever i hear this shit i seriously almost fuckin' cry im so excited... i love you phish... thank you...
Its the last song in the afternoon set. Greatest millenium party ever! We will hold that title for a thousand years! Yeah it's awesome they chose to break it out, it was always a favorite and to hear them do it was sick.
Man did Trey have some chops when he was something resembling coherent! That first solo is note for note and bend for bend the Clapton solo from the album.
This always reminds me of the "1999" opener from NYE '98 in terms of the crowd going nuts. I thought this was the musical highlight of Big Cypress.
All of Clapton's solo is in this song, Trey breaks it up and puts in his own jamming, cuz, well, he's Trey.
Summer can't get here soon enough. ALthough we got jipped on the dozen or so tour dates, when they're usually lots of dozens of tour dates. Oh well I'll take what I can get.
anyone know who originally did this song? I know clapton did it, and i have a version of Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders doing it too, all are funky as shit
If you liked Jerry's version you should check out JGB "After Midnight: Kean College, 2/28/80", he jams it in and out of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby - some of the most intense fretboard workouts I've ever heard!
best party i've ever been to in my entire life
