The music from the NES version is far better than the MSX version. Completely honest opinion.

I'd love to see someone make a tribute to the MGS saga with this music playing. Perhaps including whichever MGS game Solid Snake will die in, considering he doesn't actually die in MGS4.

This was a great song for sneaking around the jungle from guards and shit. I dunno I played the MSX version and the NES version and I actually liked the NES version's soundtrack way better even though it used some songs from the MSX original version.

He did. The original Metal Gear on the NES was simply the port of the MSX version. Metal Gear 2 on the NES was a game Hideo had no involvement in, not proper canon and just all up a total cock up.

ummm... no. It was NOT a direct port. I've played both versions, and Kojima was not in on it being ported over. MG2 was never ported over to the NES. Instead, a non-canon sequel called Snake's Revenge was made for the NES. This is not the same as MG2.

Most gamers know that Metal Gear 2 Snakes Revenge was the western made sequel that had nothing to do with the later released Japanese Metal Gear 2. However, many are unaware that many changes were made made to the original Metal Gear when it was ported from the MSX to the NES. The beginning jungle environment, and the metal gear fight being two scenarios that are wildly different.

It's not just the poor translation that people write it off for, it's also the unnecessary changes to the game itself, such as the replacing of the Hind D with "Twin Shot," parachute with iron glove, and the Metal Gear itself with a Super Computer. Oh and at points they moved where an item is (gas mask and mine detector), but forgot to update the script, so you'll be told where one of these is, and it's actually the other. >_o
