I've recently discovered that the voice behind these ads (from the '60s through the early '80s) was that of Taylor Grant, a radio/TV newscaster [he anchored ABC Radio's nightly "HEADLINE EDITION" during the '40s and '50s] based in Philadelphia.
@fromthesidelines the other day i was going thru some email print outs from some contacts. one had emailed me that he had contacted tv guide a few years about the music used in ththose ads and the v/o actor. they confirmed it was grant, altho my contact said he was guessing the last name, becuase it had been a few years. he never got the name of the music, but was told it was from library music. that email to me was from three years ago.

@TRKoneAD2 - If you're referring to "Mr. TV Gahhhd" as heard here . . . Taylor Grant passed away in 1998 from a heart attack.
