  • is that a 4s battery? looks bigger than a 3s to me, just wondering because im running a 420L in my Comet500 with a 3s

  • @SPAGHETTIMONSTER1

I don't remember the exact size of the battery but it was a rather large 3s pack with plenty of power(mah's).

  • @evildomain , thank,.. nice mods! looks good

  • When using the Trex 450 Head how short should the swash links be to get the proper pitch settings.

  • @italiano687

I don't remember what length I had them at but I do remember having to do it by trial and error. Basically you put a pitch gauge(set on zero) on the blades, unhook the links, set the sticks on the transmitter for zero pitch too and manually move the links to until the blades are at zero pitch. Then adjust the link length until they are the same height as the swash ball while the blades are still at zero. It is was pretty easy to do, I hope my instructions makes sense.

  • Good job man.. Your Blade just kicked the shit out of mine bro. I thought I went all out on the aluminum, carbon fiber and home made stuff but you out did yourself. I've crashed mine more times than I've flown. But she looks fucken hot on my shelf. lol.

  • @TheDrH20

    Thanks man....

  • i did this mod exept the swash plate as i still need to make a bracket for the guide

you know the ball links screw out and you can use the stock blade 400 ball links if prefered,

a cheap way to do this is get a trex 450 clone head & tail set which is actualy about 3-4 times cheaper than eflite cnc parts and about 3 times less than trex align parts, same results but cheaper :)

anyhoo its a nice mod to do and deffo makes it better

  • Really great stuff , I like the vid. keep up the great work, 5 stars

  • @CrazyHeliDude

    Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • how does the tail servo mount work for you i

  • @macdaddy1600

It worked out fine for me. No complaints. It's better mounted this way for rudder adjustments.

  • i did my tail servo the same way very good mod

  • nice

i have a stock b400 at the moment and orderd some carbon parts to customise it

im still learning cp belt driven helis

so im gonna wait untill i stop striping servos with bumpy landings before considering investing in metal heads and tail sections

im gonna get some metal geared servos as the stock ones strip to easily even if the blades are slightly out of whack they break the teeth on the gears on the cyclic servos, stock setup is pretty weak i think lol

  • Try the HXT900 servos. Cheap price and you don't strip the gears.

  • Did you have to change any settings in the transmitter? EG: Swash Mix

  • Yes, you do have to change settings on the transmitter. The Align head used different length linkage rods so you need to adjust settings plus I think you need to reverse some them too. It's all pretty easy to do once you have the head installed.

  • How much flight time do you get with this? From one charge?

  • The same flight time as a Trex 450se v2.

  • Very nice i have a blade 400 and i have done many upgrades and still counting i have installed a futaba gy520 gyro, futaba 9257 tail servo, and hi-tec hs65 cyclic servos.. and i also still have to install all eflight aluminum parts i also bought align carbon fiber blades and the carbon fiber tail blades, fin set, and flybar paddles.. i love this heli i have some videos showing the stuff i put in so far and how they work and a test flight video best wishes flying, bigmark

  • Quality Mod Mate.

Would you recommend upgrading the servos due to 'E-Flite' giving us Budget servos with the package, im getting the blade 400 march 7th

  • Yes! Upgrading the servos is important. I've had these servos break gears just on rough landings. If you are on a budget try these HXT900's. I even use them on the tail. They work well for the price, about $5 each. They don't seem to break even when I crashed my T-rex into a tree none got stripped. Hobbycity sells them shipped from USA so you don't wait very long. They are strong and fast servos, don't let the price fool you. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask more questions.

  • thank you for the info

  • indeed rogh landings WILL strip E-flite servo's, not too sure what the HXT900's are but i use the HiTec Metal geared servo, same size only $45 AUD, nice conversion mate very nice

  • i have one like this but i dnt kno how to tune it > it spins

  • What do you mean "it spins"?.

  • Sounds like you mean it spins round and round on throttle up yeah ?

In that case its the tail setup and gyro. Just join a forum like rcuniverse or heliguy etc etc they will sort all your problems out

  • i never brock a pair of my skids but i gess the worst landing i had was on the side so the skids didnt help much

  • The Blade 400 skids are not very flexible, actually pretty stiff. The Stock T-rex skids would be an improvement.

  • i agree

u no if u put t-rex 450 skids on it most people would probubly think its a t-rex at firs glance

  • If I get an extra pair of Gorilla Gear skids I might out them on because they are so flexible and resistant to hard landings. I've broken one pair of the stock skids with a rough landing, hehe.

  • lol u almost have a complete t-rex with your set up.

i like the frame of the blade 400 better then the t-rex so its pretty much wat i want but your right it would cost to much to actually do all of your mods

    thx for showing your heli

  • Yeah, I did the mod because I had all the extra parts lying around so why not do it. hehe

If you have all the parts or just a bunch of money then go for it. It's a cool mod and it stands out in a crowd I guess. Fly's better too.

  • wat type of canopy are u putting on it

  • I'm using a T-rex fiberglass canopy. Fits pretty good but you have to make holes so it will slide on to the Blade 400 canopy holder. I had too grind some of the lower canopy so it would slide in enough. Put a little tape where the canopy touches the skid strut to dampen any noise due to vibrations. Looks much better than the stock canopy.

  • dude i know you got ride of those blades by now. i had the same ones to try them out and their heavy. you can feel the weight when you come out of a hard loop.

  • Yeah I know. I went back to the stock wood blades until I can afford carbon fiber ones.

  • how much heavier does the tail make it since its cnc

  • not bad. The stock tail is plastic but it is a lot of plastic so the weight difference isn't that dramatic. Plus I like being able to see the belt and making sure it's in good shape. The stock tail is enclosed so you can't see if the belt is falling apart, lol.
