  • RIP BUG, we will be truly Missed

  • I saw Frankie Beverly & Maze this past June (2011) in Atlanta at Chastain Park. 4 things are different about this performance and the one I saw.

    1. Frankie's cap was white, 2. his beard is gray, 3. different bass player, 4. different guitar player. Other than that it looks and sound exactly the same this summer as it did in 1980 on this performance. It's amazing that Frankie & Maze are able to replicate this classic exactly the same way it was recoreded 34 yrs ago in 77. Thanks mrklean03

  • I'm 38 years old and have been jammin this song for about 22 years! Oh my gosh! Timeless.. Frankie, Bob Marley, and Michael Jackson are ICONS in the music industry. There will NEVER ever be another like those three. Enjoy Frankie while he's still here. I'm going to be sure to catch as many as his shows as I can-before the end.

  • I love this song. I'm not as old as most of the people commenting but I can't help but feel a sense of home when I hear this song. Makes me want some catfish and corn. (DAYDREAMING AND SMILING)

  • too bad there isnt happy feelins in the air so that there wont be so much evil everywhere.

  • Hell Yeah! That feels good! He might just stand still the whole time but Frankie will groove you all night long!! R.I.P. REAL MUSIC! I miss you everytime I turn on a radio.

  • One of my all time favorites! The soothing sound of Frank Beverly, better than fine wine.

  • I don't care how old it is, i still love me some Frankie Beverly and Maze

  • Maze + Frank Beverly = New Orleans Essence Music Fest

  • This song is older than me. Im 28. Im addicted to it. Even the studio version. BUT LIVE? Man im ashamed to even be part of a idiot generation. DONT GIVE UP OLD SCHOOLERS. I owe my life to u all, and i know im not the only youngster.

  • This funky & soulful groove definitely gives me Happy Feelings! I just Love Frankie's voice!!

  • @stefan0063 we are, I still got love for the music I grew up on (hiphop, not dumb gangsta rap) but there's nothing like music from the old days. just pure art. you guys were lucky.

  • Ahhhhhh, when music was music...

  • I still have this album...lol..fuck this bullshit they pumpin out nowdays. Usher and Rihanna can kiss my "happy ass".

  • @MisterCrazyLegs Usher and Rihanna can kiss my "disagreeable" ass. Because I'm not happy with the bullshit that's nowadays! And that goes for the record execs who sign them.

  • they are still # one last time i seen them was essance 09 they close as they alway do. frankie voixe was a litte off but the band didn't mis a beat. Is this why he's not closing the show this year?

  • This brings me fantastic memories and very happy fellings!

They're the greatest R&B band ever!!

  • This brigs such good memories and feelings. They're the greatest!!

  • These guys are real good, cool oh yeh, loving Frankie Beverly, saw them once live at Hammersmith Appolo in 1987 they were truely awesome, way to go Maze. Sincerely, Neville Bardoli Esq.

  • this cut is a staple at cookouts...remember those cookouts, the grill smell, dancing, friends and families groovin', chillin' and feelin' happy. scoopv

  • this concert was televised way back in the early 80's - I think an ETV broadcast. I just happened to catch it.....and bought the vinyl album the next day. I still have it - scratched, but playable. Really nice to watch this performance. What a voice, and what wonderful musicians.

  • This song is 30 years old

  • @43Penworthy This song is actually 33 years old, it was releashed in 1977. This video is 30 years old. This concert took place in 1980

  • @genobibb I was just about to ask that question. Love.

  • @43Penworthy AND?

  • @43Penworthy And you point is? Who care about how old it is. The REAL point is that music - unlike food - NEVER SPOILS; and that the delicate morsels we feasted upon in days gone by are STILL just as tasty today?

  • @43Penworthy And it will NEVER get old!

  • Beautiful.....My father passed August 21, 2009, and hearing Frankie Beverly & Maze gives me nothing but sweet memories of my father. I grew up listening to them. Thank you so much for the post.

  • top class post !

  • Without a doubt this is one guy who was so under rated as an artist in the music business. But us New Orleanians know the truth....

  • @JARCHIE1973 I'm from New Jersey and grew up on the Legend which is Frankie Beverly and Maze

  • I would like to go back in time just to see them again in concert. Who is more smoothier than Frankie Beverly & Maze? Do you check out the harmony between these guys? ......LOVE IT

  • This is music...lyrics, voice, harmony, and the arrangement...this song just reminds me of very happy times growing up on the southside of Chicago.

  • Man why dont we get this kinda groove anymore?? Frankie and the boyz are just groove masters. Everything about this tune is right!! Saw them in the 80's in London. These guys are sorely missed over here!! Need to get the love back in the world FB & MAZE RULE!!!

  • Im 17 and know all the words to this. this the song my people used to have playin when they had a card game and they would be jiggin all night to this

  • So Sweet, no word on this planet could begin.
