  • My all-time favorite band!

  • I'm really happy 4 mins and 15 seconds happened.

  • Who would dislike this song?

  • great lyrics unreal

  • tahoevic proves he is an idoit...

  • How did obama get 4 dislike votes on this song? Oh yeah, he is a Chicago politician!!!

  • Brings back great memories of fun in my younger days!

  • Reminds me of Alan Parsons. Creativeness that pulls the heartstrings...

  • @timeout1958 crazy that you should say that...i have a friend on facebook, from south america, and she shares with me the greatness that is alan parsons. i thought maybe i should share with her kansas, as i believe alot of songs of each band are regarding, "the other side," or out of body experiences. thanks for posting your comment; i wasn't indecisive, just waiting for the right time. in harmony

  • When I pass beyond I hope this song is an echo in my soul

  • This has to be one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. And this came out way before my time. Blows my mind that this was never released as a single and thus gets overlooked and overshadowed by their big hits, not to mention the Pink Floyd song of the same name. It's NOT a rock and roll classic engraved into our culture, its a hidden gem. I can't for the life of me figure out why not though. Gotta thank my dad for playing this around me.

  • Quit posting lyrics ass fucker, if you don't have it look at your very small PENIS

  • A delightful masterpiece by Kansas. I was into pop music for my entire life, until a guy name, let's say Sam, showed me a beautiful path where real music really was the whole time. Thank you, Sam for showing me the real inner me.

  • one of my favs

  • when music was music.

  • Dear Paganguy, I feel saddened that you believe this is the end. Two years after my grandfather passed away he visited my brother and I after my car broke down on a lonely stretch of road. He helped me for about 15 minutes. He also drove up in a dark green car, but my brother saw a black car. It had no make or model tags on the side. There was no name on the dash. It was for all purposes, non existent. But it was him and only 15 miles away. There is life much greater after this world.

  • This song inspired me when I was a teenager. Listening to it again now in my late 40s, it still gives me chills and inspires me. To me, "The Wall" is really about mental barriers inside of us all, and how to get around them (blocking out the light and blinding me, I want to see ... and though it's always been with me, I must tear down the wall and let it be....) I hope this song inspires you as much as it did it me. (and smiling back at all who wait to grow, there is no more....).

  • @immysteryman1 I always thought the lyric said, ".. and smiling back at all who wait to cross, there is no loss..."..but he does sort of trail off so you may be right. Regardless, great lyrics.

  • Kansas is an underrated American band, man!! I would put them up there with such British greats such as Deep Purple, man!!

  • @jeffreygaudreault never underated to me but I saw both DP at caljam1 1974 and kansas in 76.

  • Wonderful world you gave to me ! when o heard this song i found out that i had a long way to go.

  • True masterpiece

  • Jesus

  • Hell, Dream Theater sure knew their Kansas :P

  • I love this song, and I love the genius of it, BUT, "The riches that I seek are waiting on the Ohter Side..." Really? Here's the thing; there is no Other Side. This life is not a dress rehearsal. This is the only life you get. Make this count. Do not live for some imagined afterlife. That is silly.

  • @Paganguy1 There is no other side; this song is written from the perspective of the lost. Its an expression of the misunderstanding the lost often have for the nature of their struggle. They seek to pass through to a "promised land" when they really need to come to grips with the reality of their existence and move on.

  • @coryhouston1

Cory, who are "The Lost", exactly? Point out "The Lost" to me. Show them to me.... You, as a little kid, would point at me, as a stark raving athiest, who has been married for almost 30 years, has a successful business, and a home, as "The Lost" becuase I don't don't believe in some god.

Is that what you are saying? Because, who are "The Lost" to you?

  • best band of all time, Kerry, Steve, Rich, Dave, Phil, and Robby

  • @pb4ueat1390 hows that whole judgement day thing workin out for you?

  • I think this song influenced Pink Floyd's 1979 rock opera.

  • pure genius. a sound track for life.

  • Amazing group, with deep meaning of awareness. This song brought to my kne's believing in all that can be, and happen in life , love , rich'es lost love and found soul! it's truly a song of epic., meaning to believe in somthing, like kansas, is truly awesome."

  • love it

  • God save Kansas!

  • I saw them open for BTO at the Allentown Fairgrounds in the summer of 74 or 75 and they completely stole the show!

  • This song changed my life while going through rehab back in '77. Kansas may not be my favorite band, but it's definitely in my top 5 and this track is among my favorites.

  • @YesRushELP Whats your top 5? yes.rush,elp and

  • Being from Kansas I had to love this band. Saw them open for REO Speedwagon and they completely stole the show.

  • For those of you who wonder about barriers and walls, take heed. You will suceed.

  • Wow I just saw Kansas last night. AMASZING still today!

  • the wall

  • we know Kansas is great it's what drew us together

  • The moment is a masterpiece ...

  • Not enough kansas in the world now.

  • im amazed with this song, ,,,

  • kerry livgren wrote a biography and in it he said this song was written shortly before he became a christian he was heavly into drugs and was searching at the time when he wrote this

  • @rocko2yu Actually this was 76, I think he converted in 79 after the Monolith album. But then again, I may be completely wrong...

  • The riches that I seek are waiting on the other side. Ain't that the truth, brother?

  • octavarium-like ending??? ... dream theater being inspired...

  • @ipatoukas the melody sounds like Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence. :)

  • Do you think Roger Waters played off of this song? I think it "inspired" the GREATEST album available. Pink Floyd jumped up two more notches after THE WALL. EVERYONE, not just Hippy types and Yippy types kewl peeps listened to FLOYD, after that. Then they break up...Beatle Fever they got. I believe. But that's JUST ME. The WebMagician.

  • is there any possibility pink floyd inspired from this their legendary ''wall''?

because some lyrics are similar(''tear down the wall '')

i think also that what kansas meaan here is not far from what pink floyd did ,despite the second is more complicated and symbolizes more things

no matter what this is a wonderful song

  • Just wish I could find others that feel what I do when I listen to this song. It moves me incredibly.

  • Had the extere The purity of your voice wiil stay with me me pleasure of interviewing Phil Ehart..drummer for Kansas...wouldn't discuss Kerry Livgren..and he threw me under the bus during a live interview, I wouldn't have changed it for the world...This song has the power that I think we all at some time need to face our own reality....Thank You Steve..

  • @KarenUsina Powerful and truthful statement ...")

  • I want this to be the song they play a my funeral and have told friends so. It' such a beautiful song and speaks of a full life to me.

  • @TheCharlyHorse LEFToverture

  • @jcast18k Yeah I saw that and then I noticed haha

  • @TheCharlyHorse xDDD

  • After "dark Side of the Moon," this was the best rock music ever written or ever performed. Nothing holds a candle to it.

  • me and my older brother played the grooves off this record back in the 70's

  • I put this song on to inspire me when I want to paint. It helps me break down my walls.

  • My favorite song of all time. Great to sing along to in the car.

  • I love this song,I was so mesmerized when these wonderful guys came to St. Augustine,Fla and everyone was going crazy over"Dust in the wind" However, when they played the wall, more than a few of us agreed this was always a "masterpiece"

  • @JennaP46, Dust in the Wind can not even compare. This is one of their greatest even if the so-called gurus didn't recognize it. Moves me everytime I hear it!

  • @JennaP46, Dust in the Wind can not even compare. This is one of their greatest even if the so-called gurus didn't recognize it. Moves me every time I hear it!

  • just downloaded this great song nice post

  • Kansas makes me proud to live in Kansas City... even if they are from Topeka.

  • @wvankley Yes Kerry found God... he said that is what this song is about. Kerry's lyrics were always so deep.

  • The last time I saw Kansas in concert Kerry joined in... it was great. It's just not kansas without kerry... I have seen them so many times and it's never the same with out him.

  • This freakin Album is a master piece... Kansas doesn't get the recognition they deserve

  • classic rock thanx.

  • obra prima do kansas ,chocante !!!

  • This song of tribulation and triumph really tugs at your soul

  • I love this song actually this whole alblum I'm glad to have lived through the 70's when this was first out it was a good time in my life. This song transports me back there and I can see that young man full of life blasting this song in the barriacks there at Fort Carson Colorado. A4/61ADA YEAH BABY

  • An absolutely exquisite MASTERPIECE! The promise land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride....the moment is a masterpiece...

  • two jackasses logged in and voted thumbs down.

  • @martel732 Just a beaver fans... the only 2 in the word

  • Absolutely love this song.....brings back memories of long ago!!!

  • the second best song ever written...the first is Miracles out of nowhere..

  • una rolota favorita, la guitarra me recuerda a genesis,

  • Rich Williams; a gentleman and guitar player who could give a toss about it all. Walsh and Livgren, are the nuts and bolts; but Williams never gets credit !

  • 4:35 sounds EXACTLY like the ending of Dream Theater's Octavarium :) I always love how Dream Theater makes so many references to their musical influences.

  • what a band what a time those memories will never leave me.the moment is a masterpiece the weight of indecisions in the air.classic

  • Every time i mention "The Wall" people think I'm talking about the Pink Floyd song. I find it almost upsetting that most people don't know about this inspirational masterpiece

  • @Ihaterudecomments

    yeah, me too

  • @Ihaterudecomments

yeah, buddy...what a shame...this is an excellent song that never got the playing time or accolades it deserved!!!

  • one of their best...........bought the album what a great band with great sound and music............still listen

  • WOW what a message man!

  • Another masterpiece off this album.

You can really hear the influence of Genesis on this band in this during the instrumental part.

    At least to my ears.

    Great song.

  • This song reminds me of my husband, He is always jamming to it. I smile every time I hear it.

  • An Awesome American original!

  • Love Kansas' lyrics.

  • shit...by accident i rated it 1 star :O sorry kansas

  • No worries, I canceled it out with a 5 star. :D

  • I helped with another 5 stars =3

  • I bought the LP not long after it came out. Played it until it wouldn't play any more, then bought a cassette, wore it out, then eventually found it on CD. One of my favorite songs since '77...

  • @timjake78 now that is dedication!!

  • @timjake78 don't wear out your computer playing it...

  • @timjake78 ...same here yet I'm on my 3rd cd of this album..lol

  • beautiful and still relevant song.

  • this band can take you there!

  • what a masterpiece!

  • @Yorgos72 Indeed it is!

  • @vnunrv71 It also shows that it's a guy, so it could've been his mother, or some other family member who watched it on his Account, whether on his pc or someone else's.

There's always more to something than what's shown

  • Thanks for posting this. I saw them live here and the drummer was incredible, he stole the show. This is one of my favorite songs....even as a youngster, I loved it, but now that I'm much older I still love it, and understand it.

  • I have Leftoverture and honestly, this is one of my fav songs off of it.

  • Thanks!!!! I have had this song in my head ha ha =D great song!!!

  • PixC12

Maybe God insured him that there was a better palace for him then herei in this world.....maybe that moment he knew that everything was alright......I pray that he found what he was looking for on the other side

  • YEEES, RUSH, fathers of progresive at all!!!!! I Love them, and i lately descovered Kansas in their true light, and i'm enlightened!!!

  • And though it's always been with me

I must tear down the wall and let it be

  • PixC12

maybe he heard it as his last conscious thought,

and so also wanted you to share it with him in tribute

  • This was the last song my husband listened to before he passed 4yrs ago. Why this song I gotta ask. ? ..It was a natural passing. Did he know? What does it mean??

  • Gold and diamonds cast a spell

It's not for me, I know it well

    The riches that I seek

Are waiting on the other side

There's more that I can measure

In the treasure of the love that I can find!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you forgot RUSH...!!! SWEET

  • kansas, pat benatar, rush, billy idol, journey, heart, bon jovi, and styx. Need I say more?

  • How many times I've passed trying to play this by ear when it did not exist such a thing as internet. Wonderful.

  • Kerry suffered a stroke and needs our prayers..

Get well soon my friend !

  • Great song.

  • Perfect song, my favourite Kansas song!

Everyone should be made to listen to this before dismissing Prog!

  • =TRUE MASTERPIECE=

  • AHHHH

Thank GOD I finally found this song. Whenver I listened to it on the casette version, I always thought it was an add on to Cheyanne Anthem for some reason. This whole album is a masterpiece, THANK YOU for putting it on here.

  • I was in 6th grade when this came out,I cant believe how fuckin long ago that was now... Jesus ?

  • "This band seemed to expend most of its talent on 'Wayward Son' and 'Dust In The Wind.' "

Oh God no. Those are just those most non-progressive, rock/pop tunes they wrote. This is progressive music -- if you're not into prog or classic or other compositionally rich music forms you're missing out. Check out The Pinnacle or Song for America.

  • Wayward Son and Dust in the Wind are arguably the signature Kansas songs (or at least the ones that get played the most), but this is on a completely different level. This is an epic, beautiful song, deep and powerful, hitting you right in the core.

  • couldn't have said it better myself

  • good choice!!!!!!

  • I saw them perform this live. Wish I could back in time. Great band. Great concerts.

  • great song! love kansas..

  • i agree can;t stand the rap and hip hop on the radio

  • Great song

  • masterpiece

  • I'm rediscovering this band all over again. Outstanding! The stories I could share... I was born in the state of Kansas and in my travels was ridiculed for that. Well... those people couldn't hold a candle to the talent from this band! Excellent music and a true treasure. Thank you.

  • greatest song ever written bar none

  • I get chills from this. This song has meant so much to me for so long.

  • Probably my favorite by them

  • amazing song

  • best kansas evar!

  • everyone think they know kansas because of dust in the wind, but this songs are way better. it's like the doors with light my fire or led zeppelin with stairway to heaven.

  • I'd love to see Suckcherry, Nickelfuck, Miley Virus, or the Jackass Sisters try topping this quality and talent.

  • and the topic of the song is so pure, compared to today's crap

  • My favororite track from "Leftoverture". Kerry Livgren re-recorded it with more electric harpsichord on the first "Best Of Kansas" disc back in 1984. It was re-released/remastered in 1999 with more tracks by Epic/Legacy.
