GREAT GREAT GREAT DEFEAT OF ALI!!!! I WAS ALWAYS SAYING THAT ALI WASNT EVEN A GREAT FIGHTER, HE WAS AGREATEST SPOILER OF ALL TIME TIGHTING HIS OPPONENTS AND RUNNING AWAY FROM THEM. LEON IS A TRY LEON, BEAST, WARRIOR. HE WAS KEEPING TO PUNCH ALI DURING 15 ROUNDS NON-STOP AND HIS DOPE-A-ROPE OR FLY LIKE A BUTTERFLY AND STING LIKE A BEE TACTICS DID NOT WORK THIS TIME BECAUSE LEON IS NO GEORGE FOREMAN. I MUST SEE HIS (LEON'S) OTHER FIGHTS, I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE PUNCHING NON-STOP FOR 15 ROUNDS.
Taking all those shots from Spinks certainly wasn't good for his health. Spinks pounded away the body too. I read Ali was urinating blood the night he went home. This wasn't Jean-Pierre Coopman. This kid came to fight and he gave Ali a beating.
@ultraollie i would think holmes would have mopped him up at this stage as well....what about the 1976 version of ali, do you think ali would have had enough in reserves to overcome a young and hungry holmes?
@MrScottydabody: my opinion is worth what you are paying to read it. :) Frankly, I think that Ali started to go downhill after his defeat of George Foreman; he was given a very kind verdict over Ken Norton. So I'd have to say a young Larry Holmes would have done him in at any time after that brutal Frazier-Ali III fight.
Though I know that fighters older than Ali was at that time have done well, Ali went through too many wars (Frazier I, II, III, Foreman, etc.)
@ultraollie yes, i think you have a good opinion and that means i agree with you now that ali probably no longer had what it would take to beat holmes after the 3rd frazier fight 1975. you can see larry holmes truly being his most difficult opponent even in ali's prime, because holmes had very good boxing skills and i am not sure if you ever noticed but larry holmes had a pretty good jab (laughs).
they gave this british announcer the worst place 2 sit. u can't hear a word

Muhammad Ali should've been attacking Leon Spinks from round 1

If Ali faced Holmes at this stage, he would have gotten wiped out.

Ali probably should of Retired after Beating Ken Norton.

@ErikS1975FreeState Ali should have retired after he beat Leon Spinks.

Should of retired after the 3rd Norton fight in `76. Boxers ages fast back then. 15 rounds fights, tougher opponents and more fights.

this beating in the third round contributed to his pugilistic dementia
nastylefthook1 3 years ago
he does'nt have puglistic dementia, he has parkinson syndrom. the symptom that he is most affected by is stiffness, not so much tremors.

Leon had a very unorthodox style, look at how he raises his arms in the air to counterpunch Ali. Looks kinda funny.

Why didn't either fighter sit down after round 3? A mutual macho thing?
