  • try not standing so damn close!!! Im aware this video was made 3 years ago...just saying though. A question i have...why did amtrak sop running the baggage train? was it in the way or unnecessary or something else?

  • @cooldit1

Not sure about why Amtrak stopped running the Mail Expresses on the NEC, I wondered about that for myself for a while.

  • Hahaha, very fun! I liked that! Pull down the horn chord!

  • Ha..

  • Great video. People use that hand motion all the time to get engineers attention.

  • Thanks, I don't use that motion at all..I think it is more or less for kids these days. I just stick to the good old standard wave..

  • I have a quesion for the guy standing on the platform pumping his fist to signal the engineer of the Aclea to blow his horn as he was going by...ARE YOU SOME KIND OF A F*****ING IDIOT?!!! He's lucky that his stupid ass didn't get hit by that train as it was going at 100 something mph!!!

  • No the guy your talking about is pretty intelligent but does a lot of stupid things sometimes..That was not me, I was at least a few feet away filming the train..

  • i dont' understand his hand signal. what does that mean? is he a retard? i guess so - behaving like downs syndrome kid

  • That hand signal is generally used by kids (mostly) as an attempt to have locomotive engineers blow their horns for them. And that guy is not mentally challenged

  • oh shutup

  • Dude are you telling me to shutup?? I wasn't making fun of anybody..I was just telling the guy above me that some people use that motion to try to get the engineers to blow for them..I never said you or anyone is retarded for doing that..

  • No not you, briancarothers, idiot. Like its a bad thing or something. Your friend was nowhere near the tracks.

  • Oh ok..

  • @briancarothers he wasnt even close and was behind the yellow line calm down

  • @jasada09 Yeah thanks dude, I tried telling them..lol

  • @jasada09 Still, at 150......no room for error.

  • @JetMechMA No kidding.

  • i live in melbourne aus

and a express was coming through this station and me and my friends through a banana in front of it :D

  • Haha..

  • i like the horn on the acela

  • Yup..

  • its fun as hell putting stuff in front of that train

  • Sometimes..

  • yeah it fun

  • Yeah..

  • i do apples all the time. I don't throw them though. I put them there while the signal is red. Later, *Smash*

  • Great movie, I love american rail climates. Greetings from polish railfans :D

  • Thanks dude..!!

  • What the hell dude??

  • were you high when you wrote this?

  • Tehe, maybe he was honking his horn for you to get out of the way! =] :p Great video though.

  • Thanks, no I think the engineer was being friendly..

  • Arggh, Almost took his arm off. Be safe out there

  • I think he was ok..

  • LOL... someone standing that close to the rails.. I don't think so..

  • Oh really??

  • That was a very friendly engineer to do that. He may as well flipped you the bird.

  • What??

  • Hey...in spending a lot of time near trains there's some not-so-friendly egineers.

  • Yeah there are grumpy engineers most places..

  • that was close

  • Yes, but not over the yellow line..

  • ummmmm yes.. and ummm stop copying my sayings....

  • Umm how about no...

  • I have to say the best part is JT trying to screw up the shot.... then the Acela scaring the hell out of him..

  • Ummm noo..

  • haha excuse me! no its, cool, i book it to Albany but to Albany only, i never do junction 32 to Montreal. And it usually takes me about 4 hours. And come on the train's designed to be scenic, and typically a sleeper, were usually pulling 2 engines, a baggage, 5 sleepers, cafe/dining, 5-8 coaches, and the special back car. Thats alot of train to load and pull.

  • I highly doubt the turboliners are ever coming back. They were originally only a test.

Yeah I operate the Adirondack, and the Ethan Allen express sundays. i personally prefer the Acela.

  • It's too bad...I really liked the rebuilt Turbos. I rode aboard them twice back in 2003.

I took the Adirondack to Montreal last October. North of Schenectady, there's only one word to describe the ride: slow! Took us 12 hours to get from New York to Montreal!

  • Thanks..

  • haha great question! Yes i do, obnoxious amounts. We have to if were going 80+mph and over crossings.

  • Well thats cool you blow the horn a lot, but most Amtrak engineers I see fly through some stations or over bridges and don't blow their horns at all..!!

  • haha no im not doubting you, im just saying be careful because we sneak up on you guys. Yeah im an Acela operator, I also operate NewYork to Albany everyother Sunday, so Im happy to answer questions about the Metroliner or The Acela.

  • Do you blow your horn alot for like stations, tunnels, bridges etc..??

  • New York to Albany, eh? How about questions about the Turboliners? They ever coming back?

  • hey man i appreciate your intertest in the Acela, but watch out thats a little close, im an operator or the Acela and then last thing any of us want is to hit someone. but otherwise great video

  • So your an engineer for Amtrak?? That pretty cool man, as I have said before, I do not stand dangerously close to trains moving that fast..I always stay behind the yellow line which is safe..The vid looked closer than I actually was..

  • Good stuff man. Quite a rush!

  • Yeah quite a rush, all my friends think I'm crazy filming that close to the train.. I always stay behind the yellow line so I am legally and safely watching the trains..

  • amazing how awesome these trains sound now on the tracks with that new continuously welded rail

  • Yeah Amtrak can still provide some clickety-clack on welded rails..lol Not to mention some good horn action as well..!!

  • WTF

  • Dude you guys are nuts. I'm surprised the wind didnt knock the tripod over.

  • Well I was standing behind the yellow line so I was within the legal or "safe" zone away from the trains..

  • good vid,ps ill be buying a tripod soon

  • Thanks bro, tripods can make videos a ton better..!!

  • Guys, you have some good vids, but you are causing the engineer a whole lot of stress by standing that close to the gauge. Please do him (and yourselves) a favor and stand back! One false move or stumble, and it's all over. Thanks.

    Dave

  • Hey man I hear what you are saying and thanks for the concern but I was standing behind the yellow line filming and I have never been reported by Amtrak engineers at that station as most of them are friendly...Only time I was kicked out was by a damn Maryland Mass Transit cop who thought I was a terrorist or someting stupid..lol

  • Alex they don't know steve.. and these guys are right we do stand to clos... actually u stand to close, thats why i stand at least 8ft away.. but w/e u love trains and its what u want to do so do it,..

  • lol... i aint as crazy as u standing 1 foot away from the fucking train...

  • Well if you ever go on a trip with Steve and myself then u will realize I am NOT the only person who stands close to trains..duhh

  • u know me alex... i was standing way clear of that train...

  • Well we are going to have to build your confidence up a little bit..

  • lol JT got scared by the train, while u stood ur ground... u can see it on my cell phone vid..

  • Yeah this shows which railfans are the pussies out of the group.. I will always stand my ground no matter which train..lol You can say that I am hardcore..
