...they seem to always blow the chorus in their later albums though, Verse is great here, but chorus comes out of nowhere and is weak, Same with others that could have been really good songs, like "guilt is a useless emotion", but chorus ruins it.
bloody hell. why did no-one step in and pull the plug on that shit? And in this one, why did did no one step in and say "wtf are are you saying bernard? we know your lyrics can bee shit these days, but what the fuck are you saying? You are not the what? Huh? The what? Speak up" It's like he new it was a shit lyric and so said it under his breath.
@ ijustwannawatchshite well... all of them are alive and well and we've seen many much more conflicted groups reunited. It's a question what happened between Peter and Barney really and do they really hate each other that much now. Neither Bad Lieutenant nor Freebass (I enjoy both though) will ever be that big as NO and they should know that.
I'd been a fan of New Order since 1986. I had two chances to see them live, but both times something else came up and I thought "They're not going anywhere, I've got plenty of time to see them."
For me, the worst thing about their breakup (besides not seeing them live) was that they broke up at a time when they were making great, great music. They weren't at the twilight at all, in fact, Waiting For Siren's... is my second favourite record of theirs. If it wasn't for nostalgia, it'd be my fave.
With any luck, our hero kid got onto a ferry and took off to Scandinavia, where he could pretty much legitimately argue for asylum on the grounds of economic persecution.
Most likely though... British built technology in biometrics would have tracked him long before he could escape the 'United' Kingdom.
Straight to the heart. Goosebumps and tears in my eyes. New order was unique in that respect. I can't put my finger on what gives the music that specific quality.
i seriously get emotionally moved when i listen to this song. and i have no one in mind to attach that emotion to, i just get goosebumps because it is such a great work of art.. sublime, and beautifully done.
Not my fav new order album, but this track alone is worth more than anything put out by the countless bands NO has influenced.. theyre stil getting tons of play on soundtracks and dance compilations. Whats even cooler is that they survived the worst thing that can happen to a band, a lead singer dying. Is there any other band that has recovered completely from this and created a whole different genre of music as a result?
but both bands have some legendary tracks like temptation for new order and sproston green for the charlatans and both have featured in the chemical brothers better songs .... and don't forget both bands have heavily influenced british music for the past 20 years
@ady10001 I like this song but do not have any brothers, my sisters will attend to your corpse. Tell your brother they are taken to avoid two deaths in one day, otherwise let your mother know yourself, preferably before death
Does anyone know where this was filmed? I guess the village must be one of the small ones in the Pennine foothills/darkest Lancashire that proliferate up here.
New Order are an absolutely brilliant band, and this is hard to say, but I believe this song is theire best work, closely followed by Crystal. What do you guys think?
I liked Get Ready, but I thought WFTSC was a bit bland at times, except for this song, guilt is a useless emotion and krafty. To me WFTSC is not their best, but Crystal is up there with Ceremony (god that song speaks to me in so many ways unimaginable), blue monday, age of consent, BLT and others
It's partly a tribute to the 400 blows where the young protagonist finds freedom at the end. Also, its about childhood running out and his meeting a dead end and a tranisition into adulthood.
Bob on this.
