  • Bob on this.

  • This is a great CD. Really...everything on it is listenable if not fantastic.

  • @bugpal I'd forgotten how great this album was. Great melodies and all, much more interesting than Get Ready. Which was alright, to be fair.

  • @AceToneRecords

...they seem to always blow the chorus in their later albums though, Verse is great here, but chorus comes out of nowhere and is weak, Same with others that could have been really good songs, like "guilt is a useless emotion", but chorus ruins it.

  • 2...

"i want your love, I need your love"?

bloody hell. why did no-one step in and pull the plug on that shit? And in this one, why did did no one step in and say "wtf are are you saying bernard? we know your lyrics can bee shit these days, but what the fuck are you saying? You are not the what? Huh? The what? Speak up" It's like he new it was a shit lyric and so said it under his breath.

So many great verses ruined by banal choruses.

  • @evilsnakes1 It is true that their lyrics could be pretty woeful.

  • I ♥ New Order

  • How many times must I lose my way, hey

How many words do I have to say, hey

What can I do just to make you see

That you're so good for a man like

    A man like me.

  • love

  • The Charlatans have so ripped this off with 'Oh Vanity'

  • The perfect pop song

  • what is name of this song by new order??

"Just another day in the week. Waiting for an opportunity to step in front of me."

  • @sunshine36989 Guilt is a useless emotion :)

  • @DrakdagSR thanx :)

  • @ ijustwannawatchshite well... all of them are alive and well and we've seen many much more conflicted groups reunited. It's a question what happened between Peter and Barney really and do they really hate each other that much now. Neither Bad Lieutenant nor Freebass (I enjoy both though) will ever be that big as NO and they should know that.

  • song #2 at my funeral, perhaps the long remix

  • I'd been a fan of New Order since 1986. I had two chances to see them live, but both times something else came up and I thought "They're not going anywhere, I've got plenty of time to see them."

For me, the worst thing about their breakup (besides not seeing them live) was that they broke up at a time when they were making great, great music. They weren't at the twilight at all, in fact, Waiting For Siren's... is my second favourite record of theirs. If it wasn't for nostalgia, it'd be my fave.

  • Can't overcome this song

  • I.. Am.. So.. In.. Love.. with this song.....

  • With any luck, our hero kid got onto a ferry and took off to Scandinavia, where he could pretty much legitimately argue for asylum on the grounds of economic persecution.

Most likely though... British built technology in biometrics would have tracked him long before he could escape the 'United' Kingdom.

  • :)

  • Always loved the song, but didn't realize it was such an amazing video...

  • The guy at 2:03 (one with the beer can), can be seen in the BBC3 sitcom Coming of Age! This was his debut, his name is Ceri Phillips, quite sexy!

  • Love New Order but he more pop side of them, rather then this album.

  • 10 people were too impatient to wait for the sirens' call

  • someone "butchered" the song for the video....urrrh! now all is lost!

  • @fpaladin Yeah, they took out over 1 and half minutes. Still a great song, even cut up though. It's one of my favorite New Order tracks.

  • Straight to the heart. Goosebumps and tears in my eyes. New order was unique in that respect. I can't put my finger on what gives the music that specific quality.

  • awesome

  • Isso é que eu chamo de ter medo da polícia!

  • corriendo como corria, escapando como escapaba, la historia regresa a cada instante la historia regresa con otro rostro, escapa de este lugar

  • I L O V E N E W O R D E R

  • i seriously get emotionally moved when i listen to this song. and i have no one in mind to attach that emotion to, i just get goosebumps because it is such a great work of art.. sublime, and beautifully done.

  • @hyoncake good comment.

  • im with u ady.....theres sure to be a whole gang of fools who need there ass kickin into shape this is 1 top tune fella

  • That young boy is Oli from Coming of age

  • Not my fav new order album, but this track alone is worth more than anything put out by the countless bands NO has influenced.. theyre stil getting tons of play on soundtracks and dance compilations. Whats even cooler is that they survived the worst thing that can happen to a band, a lead singer dying. Is there any other band that has recovered completely from this and created a whole different genre of music as a result?

  • bernie sumner's favourite new order song

  • @ahannanismail Barney or Bernard. Not Bernie.

  • Addy I will be on the field to help you stomp someone's ass. This song rocks and NO could possibly be the best wave band of all time!!!

  • I REALLY LOVE THIS VIDEO SO MUCH!

  • the charlatans were doing Booker T's, Time is Tight (mixed with some New Order)

listen to the original Booker T GUGsZgkjrco

  • It sounds very like a New Order,Sculli...Tumbfinger down from me....

  • it sounds very like the charlatans

  • You got that the wrong way round - The Charlatans sound like New Order.

  • Very true :)

  • yes those young rip-off artists New Order will have been heavily influenced by their idols the Charlatans. FFS.

  • but both bands have some legendary tracks like temptation for new order and sproston green for the charlatans and both have featured in the chemical brothers better songs .... and don't forget both bands have heavily influenced british music for the past 20 years

  • I love this song...it's so distinctly British and for some reason, it just helps me move on with life.

  • Love this song

  • Incredible

  • A M A Z I N G Song! Saludos desde Mexico

  • Fine song by any standards.

    Me likes much.

  • i'm 41 and new order is one of my faves as well!!!

  • Nice song.

  • Oh Hail the modern Homer!!

  • "All the stars and all the worlds

    Filling up this universe"...

  • the boy should have give himself up to the police. what an empty end.. watching the sea. or at least he should have "dances" with the drunk girl.

  • it means that in spite of having run he ended up on a dead end

  • he leaves his friend :(

  • im 45 me to

  • im 14 and new order is one of my favorite bands

  • im 21 and new order is one of my favorite bands too!

  • Anyone who doesn't like Waiting for the Siren's Call. I will meet you on the playing fields 1545 to kick your ass. My brother wil be attending.

  • meh, great verse turns to a shit chorus. what does he even say?

"I got it on, 'cause you are not the long john"?

  • its such a pitty that ive got to tell you to learn english. even i could hear that he sings ive got it all wrong cause u r not the one.

great song from great NO, btw)

  • most people think it's "you are were/are not the WRONG one", so I guess you just proved my point. I still say it's "long john".

  • @ady10001

Looks like you have 9 asses to kick, i'll join you

  • @ady10001 I like this song but do not have any brothers, my sisters will attend to your corpse. Tell your brother they are taken to avoid two deaths in one day, otherwise let your mother know yourself, preferably before death

  • @ady10001 I think Its shit

  • Really quality video; deserves some repeated viewings. :-)

  • NEW ORDER---Please come Back !!

  • last new order video :(

    sad, but true

  • the last great new order song

  • i love this video

  • Amazingh song, great vid, NEW ORDER.

  • AND THE GUYS BROKE UP!?!?!?!?!?

    MORONS!!!

    ps

sorry, I'm a fan as you are.

  • One word: brilliant!!!

  • meglio il remix dei planet funk (planet funk's remix is better)

  • is that Beachy Head at the end?

  • Great song! Reminds me of when I left New Zealand & left someone who meant so much to me.

  • she's lost forever more

  • was she ever really there to begin with?

  • Anyone any idea where this vid was filmed?

  • Para Uds Memo y Gonzalo. De Oso

  • grow up but dont grow old

  • good ol new order!

  • goood song, and the video is great...memorable sadness

  • QUE LINDO TEMA!!!

  • 3:05 just reminds me of Forrest Gump lol.

  • I have to agree the video taps into that youth innocence, we all have run like that, that gives another insight into the song

  • hey im still running and still havn`t got there yet.

  • Viva New Order

  • nice song.

  • new order for ever

  • does anyone know if youtube has rich costey's version? I love new order...i was just curious...

  • I LOVE THIS SOONNGGGGGGGG!!!!

  • The song that got me into this band together with Hey Now What You Doing ... fantastic!

  • One of the best tunes from New Order.

The proof that the group can still write excellent songs, even though many years have passed

  • brilliant, nice job!!

  • i love this video as well as the song, i think they complement each other perfectly

  • The only truly great song on the last lp, which makes it one the greatest tunes in years.

  • ...and the video actually makes some sense as well.

  • no doubt, this is one of many great songs from NO.

    d'u guys ever think....

temptation, age of consent, bizzare love triangle, perfect kiss, ceremony, etc.

those song didn't match with any other song in that era, absolutely progressive...

They never get old, because their vision always one step forward...

    New Order is F***** genius!!!

  • you forgot regret true faith dream attack theives like us

  • great song

  • Does anyone know where this was filmed? I guess the village must be one of the small ones in the Pennine foothills/darkest Lancashire that proliferate up here.

  • The video was shot in and around Port Talbot in south Wales.

  • love new order ,miss ian though

  • great song for a great band.

  • You are rigth

  • Awesome!!

  • listen to the charlatans new song oh vanity, and tell me its not similar, its very similar without hookys bass.

  • Yes it's more than similar and their whole album is very nice. That was a sure bet,

    THANX

  • New Order are an absolutely brilliant band, and this is hard to say, but I believe this song is theire best work, closely followed by Crystal. What do you guys think?

  • i also think this song is bril.

all the songs off the waiting for the sirens call album are great. especially hey now, quilt is a useless emotion, w.f.t.s.c., turn, kraft..

i might as well name all the songs!

  • I really feel relaxed when listen to this, so I guess its good.

  • I liked Get Ready, but I thought WFTSC was a bit bland at times, except for this song, guilt is a useless emotion and krafty. To me WFTSC is not their best, but Crystal is up there with Ceremony (god that song speaks to me in so many ways unimaginable), blue monday, age of consent, BLT and others

  • Right on, totally agree with you!

  • sorry but i do not understand your opinion !

are you against the song or do you think that the music by joy division was by far better than the music of new order ??

sometimes i ask myself what would have been happened if ian curtis didnt make suicide

maybe now they would be more famous than the best british bands like DEPECHE MODE or COLDPLAY !!!!!

  • a shame that the song wasn t played on mtv

  • I LOVE NEW ORDER. HIS SONG IS THE BEST.

  • One of New Order's best songs. I never tire of playing it over and over again. Such a class band.

  • Thanks for the post. Can have a slightly different take on the video with each viewing.

Plus, this is an ace New Order song. Too bad they were no longer 'trendy' by this point.

  • Check out the italian "Planet Funk Remix". Pretty house music. The best NO song ever.

  • haha mad....the countryside parts where filmed where i live....south wales :)

  • pretty good :D I've heard this song many times but I didn't know it's from New Order

  • massive underrated song!

  • I totally agree. This is one of New Order's best songs. Their last album is worth owning just for this song alone.

  • Simply New Order

  • lindisma, espectacular, seria, sabia, etc etc

imposible describir lo que siento por esta cancion..

el final re arma mi corazon...

    super sano.

    lucasssss.

  • FLAVIA TE AMO MUCHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!1

  • Great song!! Maravilhoso!!!!! NEW ORDER!!!!!!

  • Fantastic! The favorite on the friday-night play-list!

  • Great song......if you can find the Planet Funk remix I am sure that you will love it.

  • Anyone that likes this song should look for the Planet Funk Remix.....it is very good.

  • am i the only one who completely doesn't understand the ending of the vid?

  • nope. no clue.

  • good. i'm not alone

  • I can explain it to you.

It's partly a tribute to the 400 blows where the young protagonist finds freedom at the end. Also, its about childhood running out and his meeting a dead end and a tranisition into adulthood.

    Hop that helps.

  • this video is a tribute to the film "400 blows".

  • cool video and song. one of their best!

  • brillant song prob my fav by new order :D
