Prisons are a drain on the economy, not a source of economic growth. Every dollar the population spends on locking people up is a dollar that doesn't go towards consumer goods and services, education, healthcare, etc. We need to start knocking prisons down, not building more. Are Americans the most violent criminals in the world? Why do we lock people up at a much higher rate than anywhere else in the world? Because of towns like this.

I'm a gaurd at hdsp in susanville and I can say that both the prisons in susanville have done far more good than bad for the town. they didnt take any farm land the land was owned by the state before hdsp was built. dont believe something just because you saw it on you tube
