I think that Mr. Page has always used Dazed & Confused (and other songs) to experiment, to push the envelope, to be creative in the moment. That's what makes his work so exciting - it is *living* music. Particularly with Dazed, that means sometimes the experiment won't be as pleasing to the ear - but so what. I've always felt that the music Jimmy Page was created for himself as much as or for more than the audience.
lemme tellya what say ye?Mr Page puts thephenom in phenominal ther will never be onother PAGE in the history of creation of anything that compares to JIMMY FUKIN PAGE MY FREINDS he knows how to charm teh sound out of that LP to take u there and back and make u say holy fuckin shit did that justtake place is it possable for another human to beable totake u on a journey with there creative vibrations MR PAGE i purchased an 73 sg custom in 84 been tyin to play as best i could and modeled my sound
segomil He didn't always sound great when he got too much trebley feedback and wrong notes don't always sound cool. Sometimes though the notes you don't mean to hit can b good musically. Jimmy uses more effects here than he used to. Here he's using the synthesized effects same as he has since around '77, but mostly for Death Wish 2 soundtrack.

@segomil He's better than you will ever be. He probably fucked 10+ girls after this show. And what the fuck is a false note supposed to be.. Het fucked
after listening to Led Zeppelin live in 77 for hours and hours, Jason sounds so out of place next to Page as most drummers to me do but damn, Bonzo was his dad, where is the soul?
the incredible artist ! James Page was, is and will be the greatest of all :: the others the rest....drunked, tired, smacked, sober or uneasy he is better than others
CALL IT SLOPPY OR WHAT YOU WILL JIMMY HAS NEVER WENT AFTER PERFECTION,IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT SPONTANIOUS ERUPTION,P,S WITH UP TO AND INCLUDING 11 TO 15 TRACKS OF GUITAR WORK PER ZEPPELIN SONG WHERE WOULD YOURE HEAD EVEN START,JIMMY'S FORGOT MORE THAN THE REST WILL EVER KNOW
IMO Outrider was a rather mediorcre effort on Page's part, it only hinted at the power that JP is capable of unleashing in the studeo. But on the other hand from what I have been able to listen to on the Outrider tour, He was by and large kicking some major ass on the guitar live!
sloppy, but he was probably drunk as usual, still though, he's jimmy page...and that is enough. i'd rather see a sloppy jimmy page, than no jimmy page at all
He regained most of his skill from his heroin years, but still has a little sloppy in him! But I like it!
Sloppy can be looked not only as bad, but could give personality too!
People thought the same for feedback until it was explored by various guitarists! Jazz guitarists thought to use it at first before Hendrix. Hendrix just brought into rock and mastered it with his wah pedals, tremolo and distortion, which really helped it get easier!
To me, it sounds better than the 1980 shows. To someone who knows how he plays (me), the audio quality is off. This was amazing. I have seen the actual footage live from the show, taken a listen, and it is reminding me of 1973 Madison Square Garden. It is like his playing has gotten better since 1980. He aged, but his playing degraded to an earlier Jimmy. This is what you call brilliance and glamour. The mad scientist and his creation hand in hand. For James, this is a brilliant moment.
@JustinPierce88 well said justin. i cant fuking believe people think this performance sucks... jimmy page is a guitar god, before there was jeff beck, there was JAMES PATRICK PAGE.... this is a great performance.

Jimmy plays nearly every achievable solo he used to play until they took it out of their set list in '74.

Maybe the worst exhibition from perhaps the most overrated guitarist of all time. He takes free-form, timing-lacking, ham-handed mush to a new level.
