Both dogs have a different type of whistle. So they only follow commands to their own whistle. Experienced sheepdogs also have a good deal of initiative, so its not hard for them to work together .

@talk2malawyer Yes, that's called the "shed", they have to separate specific sheep (marked in some way) from the rest of the herd and hold them.
