  • AHHHH!!! Greg!! That was great lol :0

  • I've had more fun playing H:tV than any other World of Darkness game.

  • So I never figured it out on their website (Because I was supporting you guys all the time) but did you guys win the contest? As far as I can tell, you guys are the best entry, or if there's one that's worthy of beating you out, I haven't seen it. :(

  • awesome vid! what was the music used?

  • @boymonkeyevil

The music was taken from two tracks of the recent Constantine movie with Keanu Reeves. It is a great soundtrack for this type of thing.

  • The hunter books were my absolute favorite out of all the WoD books, old or new.

    Well done.

  • @gatedude07

Thank you very much! We love the Hunter books too!

  • Excellent job on this video. Kept all the suspense of the game and the torture of the characters' psyches that grabbed me from the start of page one of this game from White Wolf.

Well done! You should be really happy with your production.

  • @bigollameo

Thank you very much for your comment. We hope to make even better productions in the future, possibly more with a Hunter theme.

  • How was this not in my favorites?

  • Whatever it is you guys do next, I still look forward to it. Keep up the good work. :)

  • Neverworks, if you guys want, we could always see about getting a petition going to see if White Wolf would give up some rights to you guys to make something cohesive. I know alot of us wouldn't mind seeing something of that nature. Again, I still get awesome chills every time I see this vid. Too bad the big guy with the axe got owned though. And the chick. LOL.

  • After looking into it, White Wolf does seem to protect it's literary and imagery content pretty tightly. However, this does not mean that we cannot create a short fanfilm based in their World of Darkness, without using any original story content they have already devised.

Thus, Neverworks is currently adapting a short WoD Fan Fiction (based on Hunter the Reckoning) by Ben Watkins into a screenplay for our next film project.

  • Awesome vid, makes me wana play agian.

  • Thanks!

  • Absolutely amazing. Hunter is awesome.

  • Thank you!

  • I absolutely LOVE this video. It's so f**cking cool. It sets the whole tone for being alone up until you finally stumble upon someone seemingly by chance that actually believes you and wants to help you, but even then, you still feel like it's you against the world. The music helps make it flippin' great.

  • Thanks! It's always nice to hear that someone enjoys our Fanfilm, even a year after it was posted. Thank you!

  • Good vid. Great quality for fan work. Might want to rerecord some of the voicework to have a more fluid form. Fewer...loaded...pauses...every phrase..

  • Thanks! Unfortunately, the project cannot be unburied. However, we will take that into consideration for future films. Thanks for the input!

  • I must say, I usually find these sorts of videos laughable.

    Yours was not.

    Thank you.

  • We thank you for your support of our goal for higher quality fanfilms.

    Thank you, as well.

  • Personally, I'd love to see more HtV fan videos out there. It'd be cool to incorproate actual YouTube videos when playing the game. You know, for Network 0 involvement.

  • We would love to see more as well. Unfortunately, without a contest to motivate people, and White Wolf very protective of their materials, it becomes difficult. I am glad you enjoyed our video, thanks!

  • I loved how the arm jerked at the end, then gunshots followed. Very cool!

  • Thanks!

  • This is amazing!

This should be a TV show, you know that?

  • Thanks!

We do have some new projects in the works that may be similar in theme, but sadly this trailer will be the only of its kind.

  • That was inspiring, a total pleasure to watch!

  • Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

  • I love it! Because of you guys now i'm really happy that i eventually ordered the book few days ago. :P

  • Awesome! Enjoy the book, we bought it and really love it!

  • We appreciate your support!

  • well made, i especially like the reflection in the window at 1:40

  • Thank you very much!

  • Well done!

  • Thanks!

  • fuck

  • So is this like, a continuence to the Hunter : The Reckoning series, or will it start a new set of hunters? The pen and paper game has been released, will this one hit systems in the near future, or has White Wolf brainstormed the idea yet? :)

  • It is not really a continuance, it is more like a reboot. Some of the old system rules of Hunter the Reckoning have been done away with in favor of newer systems. The core book and one supplement has been released so far, and it is an interesting take on the hunters.

  • Considering you had no budget, this was a very well done trailer. What I liked most, was that it actually had a story. It wasn't just a bunch of random clips of people being chased or beaten. Props to the writers and editors for that. I was also very pleased with the effective use of light and shadow control. Props to the cinematographers. And more props for the costume designer for making everyone look real (unlike the trailer that won).

  • On behalf of the Neverworks crew, we want to extend great thanks for your positive feedback and appreciation for the work we did.

    Thanks a bunch!

  • Dude, you guys were robed! Sure, your trailer wasn't perfect but it was way better than the other finalists. I demand a recount!

  • Thanks for your support! We believe that most WW fans considered our trailer too generic; it wasn't specific enough to the different aspects of the game to please the hard core fans that voted.

We do appreciate your comment, and next time, we will be even better! Thanks!

  • Wow!! This is the best 1, it have that feeling of suspense, terror, humans vs unnatural beings. A hunter can be any one like AlchemicalAnomaly said xD Very good vid NeverworksPictures im sure u are the winner.

  • Thank you for your support! Unfortunately, the contest did end and we were not first place. We were short 24 votes of the first place video, which was made by Serpientealada. (You probably see their video off the right in the related column)

We had a lot of fun making the film, and there is more to come in the future of Neverworks. :)

  • Out of all the contest entries, this is definitely my favorite. I love the feel of it. As for gasol18's comment... you're being way too narrow in your perspective of the film, and Hunter the Vigil. Hunters can be -anyone-. -Anyone- can take up the cause, and not all Hunters are forced to use tactics, you're overlooking creativity for game mechanics, and that is not what ANY WoD games are about.

Excellent film. Two thumbs up. You should consider making more WoD related shorts.

  • Thank you very much! We are unsure of our next endeavor, but if we get our hands on a script, we will definitely put it together!

  • I agree that hunters can be anyone. But the difference in a hunter and a world of darkness character is training, and the characters are a team. They are highly trained and have equiptment, tactics, and powers that level the playing field. Thats what makes them hunters. The actors are obviously not hunters. They look like terrified mortals that want to find out if there is evil in the dark. I said that it was shot well. I just dont think it was a good adaptatio of the hunter game.

  • Like "prelude" characters, our actors were meant to be just starting out. A casual viewer knowing nothing about the World of Darkness would need an introduction into that world, and then apply a Hunter "template" to it.

Being able to summarize an entire world and game in 2 and a half minutes is quite the feat.

Our progression through the trailer was awareness, victimized, fighting back, and the eventual team up. There may have been a better way to portray, but it is what it is.

  • We appreciate your critical analysis, but we did the best we could in the very short time and non-existent budget we had.

We think it was best handled the way we wrote it in order to make sure general audience understood the struggle the Hunter goes through, and not just see it as a generic "zombie killing" film.

  • Gasol18,

    All hunters start somewhere.

I mean, if you were suddenly thrust into a world where monsters were real, don't you think you'd be pretty freaked out at first as well?

And there at the end, when the two discover each other, I feel it kindof implies that it's the beginning of a sort of team.

    *shrug*

  • First off let me say this. The video was hot very well. You had a nice touch of horror. Now I will tell you why you shouldn't win the award. This is not a hunter the vigil video. This is a world of darkness video. Hunters work in cells and use tactics to defeat enemies. Another problem I had with this is the main guy in the vid. He looks maybe 20 years old. I have a hard time believing that a teenager would risk his life by going to hunt zombies and demons in the shadows. Nice job overall.

  • Thanks for your support! We appreciate all White Wolf fans that are experts on canon material. Thank you for your comment. :)

  • I'm sure that talking about the twenty year old guy is a bit nit-picking. They did the best they did with what they had, and the information they had. And its awesome, and far surpassed the one that looks like it did win. I don't think the age is an issue in a homemade trailer for a roleplaying game.

  • AND on top of that, this video could be an easy portrayal of Tier 1, lonesome hunters, too.

  • Thanks for your understanding of the contest and no-budget film-making process. We appreciate it!

  • just to say, to the future winner, this was awesome!!

  • Thank you for your support!

  • Far and away the best of all the entries...

  • Thank you very much!

  • That was really well done. Good job.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Excellent! This really shows Hunter how its supposed to be.

  • Thank you very much!

  • great !

  • Thanks!

  • man, hunter kicks ass! its now my second favorite line after Mage.

  • Epic win

  • Thank you for the Epic comment! We appreciate your support!

  • Congratulations on making it into the finals guys!

  • Thank you!

  • Nice build up and tension. Love the black and white and the make-up. I really enjoy the ending the best, as the bullets ring out the Hunter logo comes up "Maybe we're not crazy" very VERY well done. Bravo

  • Thank you very much! The black and white idea was from the Lead Director Greg, and the dialogue was written by the Producer. Thank you for your support!

  • I love the tension in this one! The sunset to set the scene for the rest of the clip worked especially well, I think. This was fantastic.

  • Thank you for your support and feedback! It is greatly appreciated!

  • Great trailer! Makes me even more impatient for my copy of Hunter to arrive...

You guys did an awesome job!

  • Thank You! I anxiously await for myself to get chance to grab hold of that book as well.

  • Easily the best of the four. This is fucking badass, and if you don't win the contest, you were robbed.

  • Thank you for recognizing the badassery! We appreciate the support!

  • best one by far

  • Thanks for the support!

  • Great video! Only a couple of bits of constructive criticism; I might have shortened it by cutting a few of the scenes into a bit more of a rapid succession leading up to the twitching arm at the end. Certainly creepy, but the game also involves a bit of excitement and action as well. Second part I may have suggested is a bit more branding; was only a single shot of the Hunter logo, your fonts didn't match anything in the book, and it's a "Game of light AND shadows." Not "In" shadows.

  • Ugh. Maybe it IS Light In Shadows...depending where you look in or on the book, it is both :)

  • The scenes were much shorter than originally shot, but that is where an Editor and Director usually disagree, lol. Unfortunately, we made this video several weeks before the book was released. We picked the font for the feel of the game, since we did not have the book. Thanks for your comment!

  • Great trailer ... I liked it the most, but I have the feeling you didn't get the first place just for not using the images WW provided. Pitty, I agree this one is far better.

  • not to bad. better shots then dial. the guys voice comes off as fake. tryin to hard imo. but better then the first one by a mile.

  • I was never really doubting that you guys would make it into the finals. The lightwork on the arm, if nothing else, is phenomenal. The dialogue comes off a bit... stilted sometimes, though.

Congrats for making it to the finals.

  • Thanks. We had hoped you would make it to the finals as well. You had an awesome entry.

  • Outstanding, One of the, if not the best, of the entries I've seen so far it certainly captures the spirit of the game well, that arm is just creepy and impressive work of effects. There are so many things to praise about this, so I'm just going to say well done and good luck.

My suggestion would have been, for what it's worth, not to cut back after the ending gunshots, to let the viewer decide what the heck just happened to the intrepid hunter.

  • Thank you very much! I understand the idea you have about not showing that stinger on the end, but the entire crew (not just me) felt it was necessary to tie things together and cement the theme of the piece. That one line of dialogue in the stinger was vital for the completeness of the work.

    -Greg

  • Wow, great video ! I discovered the trailer contest through your work, and I have to say this is the best of all. I really loved the vampire behind the girl 'cause even if it's scary it remains subtle. And the dialogue of course, nothing to say about it but: "Maybe...we're not crazy."

    Great job.

  • Thanks a lot! That shot was actually the Producer's idea, but it was brilliantly realized by our Assistant Director on the night when our Director was unable to be present.

  • wow guys, realy awesome. As a bit of an amatuer film maker myself, i can respec the efforts that have gone into this. The Dialogue, to me, realy made the video.

I'm not easily firhgtened, but whatever that face was that came close the girls head ealr on, that fade out ws perfectly timed because it was chilling, in the gut.

Perfect guys, i hope you won.

    - Brian

  • Thanks a lot! We did put a fair amount of effort into making it the best we have ever done to date. We have not heard anything on the contest yet, but we are appreciative of all the support we have been given!

  • Great video. In my opinion, it catches the storyteller game's atmosphere just right - nothing flashy, fairly ordinary people thrust into strange situations, and an underlying tone of danger.

  • Thanks! We appreciate your support.

  • Thanks! We put a lot of time into making sure the music fit just right.

  • Ahhh, good. You got the "Light in Shadows" part up. Most excellent.

Again, I'm afraid my self-interest forces me to hope that you don't win, but I will say that this is an outstanding entry. I particularly like the light swinging over the arm. Very effective use of a practical, gives a wonderfully creepy feeling.

  • Yeah, a bit of editing and reposting was necessary, but I am appreciative you helped me catch that in time. Thanks for your support, and good luck to you as well!

  • Yeah, very very well done. I get the WoD feeling all over... the mystery, the madness...

If I were asked, this is the one that means serious business...

Again, may the best hunters win. :)

I loved the part when he sez... "Maybe... we're not crazy..." But IMO, it'd be better if it were a bit shorter.

  • Thanks! Yeah, I agree that we should have made it slightly shorter. We were aiming for 2 minutes, but we had too much content we wanted to include. Thanks for the comment! :)

  • Fantastic job! If I wwas judging you'd win (despite the fact that none of your Hunters smoke :) ).

But in all seriousness you nailed it - it was scary (the window really creeped me out, the music was perfect, the narration was solid... what more can I say, you win!

  • Hey thanks man! That really means a lot.

  • Well done, very creepy and atmospheric. I too particularly like the lighting. Black and white was a nice touch.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Wow, that's actually pretty good! :D A lot better than anything I could do, in any case. Apart from the occasional shaky camera, the only thing that really stood out as needing work to me was the sound quality on the dialog. But even that was minor.

The lighting was really good. Especially at the part with the arm on the floor, the way the light swoops around? Really cool.

  • Thanks! Yeah, the sound on the voice over was from my crummy microphone, but the next investment for the production team is better sound equipment.

  • *applauds*

    very well done!

  • Thank you!

  • That was really good

  • Thanks a bunch!

  • Wow guys, that was freakin' awesome! Very atmospheric, great camera and extremely professional looking :)

  • Thanks for the support!

  • Wow, well done.

  • Thank you, it is appreciated!

  • Jeez.. couldn't you have picked a prettier actress? Seriously. Yuck.

    ;)

There are still a few things I wish could have been fixed, but I think considering the lack of time and resources that were available, it turned out awesome =)

    LOVE the first spinning pan..thingy..

    -TW

  • Thanks!

  • That, was awesome! :D
