Guyana is the only South American country that criminalizes male homosexual relations (with penalties from two years' imprisonment and life imprisonment) The Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD) has urged the government to repeal the discriminatory colonial-era law. We hope the Guyanese Parliament promotes the abolition of this law and create a new law that protects the rights of sexual minorities in Guyana. (Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today).
