  • Should be properly named "Easy Nuked Eggs", yeah it works, but its not the same, still good though :)

  • Using this plus crkline47's yoke poking advice, I was able to make awesome Poached eggs in a minute. So thank you for this, you helped me make dinner quickly tonight! :D

  • Everybody's pallets are different. I did a poached egg this morning and didn't notice any vinegar taste but I did use some Hollandaise sauce. One Chef suggested using seasoned rice wine vinegar (i.e. Nakano pesto). Each to his own---I just found the egg white will stay together and not separate using vinegar.

  • The membrane around the yoke will explode when heated. Poke yoke with toothpick 2-3 times to keep from blowing up egg. Also, Add a teaspoon of vinegar to help the egg whites to congeal more easily. Better cooking method is to heat water 30-40 sec until it boils. Then add egg and vinegar and heat 45 to 80 sec at medium power (50%). Let stand 2-3 minutes still covered with wrap. About as perfect poached egg as you can make.

  • @crkline47

I did try heating the water first and that worked well also. The vinegar would change the flavor too much for me. Thanks for the helpful comment.

  • Waaaay overdone, but thanks.

  • lol I watched this one night, decided to do it the next morning.

1st egg, tried 1 minute. Put it in and walked away.

Heard a feint pop as I was in the other room. Suddenly rememberd "Oh no I forgot to put the cling wrap on!"

I was hesitant to open the microwave door, and for good reason.

I opened it slowly, and through total fault of my own, the microwave now had a completely new internal coating,

also know as "Exploded Egg". LOL

48 secs "WITH" clingwrap is what I learnt from this!

  • @ShaneyPo0

I've been cooking no-knead bread and enjoy experimenting with different amounts of yeast, cook times and ingredients. When I find what works best for me.....I'm happy!

I'm happy you learned what works for you!

  • Wow it really works! And I thought like all eggs in a microwave it would explode. Thank for the tip.

  • You don't have to poke holes in the wrap?

  • @electrickithara

The wrap holds the heat in cooking the egg evenly.

  • I like poached eggs but never got the hang of making them until I tried this method. Very easy although I microwave them for less than 45 seconds but as the vid says time may vary depending on wattage. Great instructional video---Thanks

  • Quick and convenient, yes but for taste and perfect cooking, it is not. The traditional method is always better if you can take the time.

  • THANK YOU! AMAZING :)

  • I'm sure you weren't expecting this!

  • very well made instructional video!

  • @Vrud2601

Thanks, I try to make my videos easy to understand and to the point.

  • @Vrud2601 Throw out the music and speak the instructions for the visually impaired.

  • @red2deer Haha true...

  • I dint know u could microwave cling wrap

  • @lillisa2244

Is it okay to use GLAD Cling Wrap when reheating food in a microwave oven?

GLAD Cling Wrap has been tested extensively for microwave cooking by our technical staff. We have found that the product is an excellent moisture barrier when used as a cover for casseroles. It also promotes uniform cooking and prevents splattering.

  • @lillisa2244 i tried to poach an egg in the wave one time... and it blew up and smelled

  • egg from microwave taste differently

  • u forgot about salt

  • @kamikazzze90

Using salted butter is enough for me.

  • Хаброюзеры, поделитесь инвайтом )

  • Break the yoke before you microwave. It will explode. ;)

  • I tried it and it doesn't taste quite the same, at leas the egg white doesn't.

  • @RappingDelight

A blind taste test is the way to go.

  • This works great, I just tried it. Delicious. My egg popped but it still turned out fine.

  • Been doing this for years. Easy peezy. Don't need the cover- 45 seconds works for me.

  • Isn't it kinda dangerous to microwave the wrapper? o3o

I just use a little rice bowl and its cap to microwave eggs xD

  • @KawaitaKokoro

You can use a small plate to cover the egg container if you feel the plastic wrap is too dangerous.

  • @KawaitaKokoro

You can get microwavable cling-film wrap.

  • Did you start out slowly? Or did you nuke them for 10 minutes?

  • my FUCKING EGG EXPLODED! dick

  • Ok my microwave is 800 Watts, how long would i need to do it for that?

  • @Scullnblades

To be on the safe side start at 15 seconds, check the egg and do another 15 seconds. Keep doing this until it looks done.

  • Try, try and try again! Everyones microwave, egg container and water amount is different.. Finding the right combination is nirvana.

  • I tried this twice

1st time: My egg exploded! lol

2nd time: The yolk got hard and the white part was still liquidy and gross

    :(

  • @nurita4 lol guys just get these 2 flip containers made especially for poached eggs in the microwave ...go to walmart :)

  • Christ almighty I must have gone through ten eggs before finding a time and a power level that didn't turn my eggs to rubber or leave them uncooked, but I judge a recipe on how many dishes there Are at the end and this method wins the blue ribbon for least dishes and least assing about ever. So clean!!

  • yummy i love poched eggs on toast --mabey the next video you can microwave fried green tomatos

  • holy fuck i'm pumped for breakfast now.

  • Kudos! Good work

    Where's the Hollandaise Sauce tutorial? ( :

  • @joemplascencia

Eggs Benedict is a half of an English muffin, topped with Canadian bacon, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. I did make hollandaise sauce from a package (Knoor)

once. I never tried from scratch.

  • It's not! You can change the amount of time in the microwave to suit your taste. Some people like a runny egg while others like a firm one.

  • The white part looked hard and rubbery. Just poach in water. It isn't messy or time consuming and of course it works.

  • My mom used to make eggs in the microwave for me when I was a kid. Thank you soooo much for this video!!!!!! Now I can do it myself. =)

  • cool!!!

  • thank you

  • Best recommendation is to find a cup about 3 1/2 inches in diameter, make sure the egg is entirely covered under water(about 2 cm of coverage)

Note: I added the water after the egg was in the cup with another cup, slowly.

On my microwave, I did it with Medium-High power (power level 7) for 1 minute 800watts. Ensure you have a plastic wrap over the cup.

It came out perfect with the exception of just a tiny bit of water.

8 attempts total - the last one perfected it.

  • Comment removed

  • @NeverSleepz88 That got me pretty close, but with a 307W microwave I found I only needed 1 tablespoon of water, and just 50 seconds on power level 60.

  • can we use microwave bowl instead of a microwave cup?

and how much water do we put in the cup.and if posible how much water should we put in the bowl

  • @TheRahool2

Any microwave safe container will work. A couple tablespoons of water is enough.

  • can we use a microwave bowl to do the poached egg? and also how much water do we put if we use a microwave bowl and a microwave cup?

  • what is the wattage of the microwave that was used in the video?

  • @TheRahool2

My microwave is a 1980's Sears Kenmore. It states on the label

    "1500 watt power consumption".

  • wow thts great as i love eggs but can never cook a poached egg i shall try that this wkend .

  • great video, this IS the ONLY way to poach eggs, and they are firmer from the microwave, which is something I want

  • great music...who what where is it? Cheers for the very professional vid!

  • the wife's only job in the morning she can now go...

  • I'm sure you need her for "other" duties.

  • Thanks for the wattage/time information. I usually do 2 large eggs at a time myself.

  • use any type of a cup or little sauce/dip, it won`t break down, try 2x15sec or 1st 15sec then small break 10sec, then again 15sec. It actually depends how you love your eggs. Mine is 850watts 40sec. Also, you can have more than one egg at a time.

  • "Froached eggs - melt tbsp butter in same small dish add salt & pepper- add egg & POKE yolk

    Cover & mic high 20 seconds & about 2 minutes at 40 %

Serve in dish to keep warm till customer turns it out on the toast

  • The yolk contains the fat of the egg and heats more quickly.

  • First attempt, egg exploded, overdone. 2nd attempt, less time, overdone. I'll try again tomorrow. It seems the yolk is cooking faster than the whites.

  • maybe it;s the type of cup being used.

  • Excellent video .. so quick and easy

  • i learned as a kid that if I really want to make my mom mad, and make a Horrific mess at the same time, then by all means put eggs in the nuker... lol tryed to hard boil an egg and poach an egg... had to buy a new MW-Oven it was more of a disaster than hurricane katrina.

  • Exploded eggs x 3 and that was using 3 different power settings. How are you getting your eggs to NOT explode?

  • I can't explain why it works for some people and not everyone. Various microwaves have different wattages. The type of cup used to hold the egg and the amount of water are all factors.

  • @fluffyasacat the trick is to actually prick the egg yolk with a toothpick before heating it in the microwave. the yolk won't spill out (because the membrane will hold it taut still), and it won't explode. (:

  • where do I get a little cup like that?

  • The ramekin cups are part of a lobster eating kit which included shell crackers and bibs. They are to hold the melted butter for dipping. I got them as a gift.

Crate & Barrel sells very similar cups which are all white. Or you can use a coffee or tea cup.

  • Its just fantastic!

What about the beautiful music can you say what it is?

Thx ! My egg was the best ever!

  • Incredible video... my life has changed. Definitely nominate for an Oscar.

    Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow.

  • @slatehaa

    lol :)

    cant wait for breakfast either

and add another oscar nom over here

  • That's cool. I cook eggs in a coffee cup in the microwave a lot. I'm going to try puting water in and covering it.

Yeah a whole minute would be way too long for my microwave.

ibnmosef you are my egg hero!

  • Thanks

  • Cool thanks ill go give it a go now

  • Hey... Wait a minute, wasn't there cheese on that toast?

  • That wasn't cheese. It was a strip of butter that melted into the toast. I use a Butter Butler to dispense butter. It works very well.

  • I bet cheese on the toast with the poached egg would work great I imagine, hey, I'm gonna try this right now with that orange cheese on it.

  • 2. Messy... one pot, a metal slotted spoon, and a ramekin. How is this more messy than your setup, even if your eggs don't explode? Do the bits of loose egg white in the water bother you? Down the drain, gone and forgotten, I say.

Time-consuming... actually, once the water gets to a simmer, the old-fashioned way takes less time. I can do 4 eggs in one pot in about 3 minutes.

Doesn't work well... I have yet to see it not work perfectly. Even with week old eggs.

  • Please post a video response!

  • 1.After years of breaking about 1 out every 4 over easy egg-yolks, I recently adopted the "messy, time-consuming" way to poach eggs. I expected it to be tricky, because, well, eggs can be tricky. Omelettes, fritattas, scrambled eggs, I've tried and botched them all.

But I have yet to ruin a single poached egg. Dozens of perfect little treasures.

I don't want to cut you down. You have an easy method that has some appeal for the microwaving masses. But I must address your misconceptions...

  • One minute is probably too long for most microwaves. Try about 25-30 seconds to avoid an exploding egg.

  • @pensnpages Mine exploded

  • @pensnpages wow i should have known this just now :-p my egg exploded lololol scared the crap outta me

  • my egg exploded twice :(

Maybe i'll try on medium instead of high

  • Thanks for making the video. I used a coffee mug half full with water with some cracked pepper and cooked for a minute and it worked perfectly the first time.

  • Works well but I only had to nuke it (one egg) for about 25 seconds.

  • I just did it and it tasted horrible. Plus it exploded so i think i overcooked it.

  • Try it again with less microwave time.

  • i like eggs.

    and toast.

    yum.

  • Paper plates, saves on washing up. Clever. :)

  • where can you buy these cups?

  • The ramekin cups are part of a lobster eating kit which included shell crackers and bibs. They are to hold the melted butter for dipping. I got them as a gift.

Crate & Barrel sells very similar cups which are all white.

  • i just done it , it was 23:48 when i made mine first time mine exploded but 2nd time i put small ammount of water in about 2 cm to fill to cup then an egg tin foiled it microwaved it 35 second because my microwave is 800w and it came out ok and im eating it while im writing this

  • Great video. Simple, plain, clear. Thank you.

  • protip: add salt to increase the boiling point of the water, pre heat water, flavor and faster! SCIENCE

  • yea, but salt can also disolve the egg to, but try adding a little butter, and a dash of pepper, and a dash of garlic powder just a tinny bit. ten after put some tabasco bro! WOOO!

  • Try changing the cook time and the amount of water in the cup. Practice makes perfect!

  • I just tried this. Whatever I do the eggs explode. I pierced the yolk many times and it still did. Just wasted a whole box of eggs!! I took the amount of time down to 30 seconds, it exploded and when i took it out there were still bits of runny white in there.

My microwave is 1000W, so maybe it's just too powerful?

  • Maybe! I've done it in a few different microwave ovens and had success every time. Most of the people commenting on this video were also successful.

  • I just tried the same deal you did, KABOOM! every time... I wonder if I change the power level...

  • AHA! I remember how I did this! I just used more water. That must slow down the cooking and avoid the BANG! I used a large coffee cup, and filled it about 1/3 of the way with water, and microwaved for about 1:10. This is enough water to completely submerge the egg by about an inch of water. Viola! Perfectly poached eggs, GREAT VIDEO!

  • I've tried this method. It works -- although my microwave poaches an egg in less than 1 minute. It's fast and easy, and there's little mess to clean up (although I usually grease the cup). A quick hot breakfast before leaving for work.

  • i thought your video was very good. I liked the music! I actually made 2 eggs. I covered it with waxed paper and the paper did not even get hot. Thanks for a easy way to have breakfast!

  • brilliantly simple - thank you for taking the time to post this video.

  • I tried this and it worked perfectly! Thanks for giving me a new really easy breakfast :)

  • You have to pierce the yoke with a toothpick, otherwise it will explode.

  • You could use waxed paper if you like!

  • This was actually very helpful. One thing tho, when i tried this, my yolks came out cooked, and i was wondering what i could do to make them runny. Any suggestions?

  • You can decrease the amount of time you microwave the eggs. Try 45 seconds instead of one minute.

  • Oh, okay. Thanks.

  • I just tried boiling two eggs and your video showed me how I could use the microwave. Sounds easier. Don't you have to poke the yolk or something?

  • You can if you like. The egg yolk sometimes "pops" but the plastic wrap prevents it from splattering the inside of the microwave oven.

  • Legendary! and i love the music, cheers m8

  • I'm just concerned about microwaving plastic stuff near my food. Maybe a glass bowl with some kind of glass or ceramic cover? Thank you :)

  • I'm sure placing a small dish that covers the cup holding the egg would work equally well. The plastic doesn't touch the egg. It keeps the heat in and stops any egg from splattering inside the microwave oven. Thanks for the comment.

  • ummm...Maybe I am just not a chef, but I tried this and the egg exploded. Was this a trick?

I think ya got me? :)

  • The wattage of your microwave could be higher than mine. Try alittle less time.

  • I love you, I just cooked two eggs (separately), in this manner, and they turned out INCREDIBLE! I used a bit more water and cooked them for 1:15, and they turned out even better than what you showed! EXCELLENT VID!!!

  • I wanted to share this technique with everyone. Fine tuning it to your preferences is up to you.

  • Nice vid. With my stove broken i was wondering how i was going to make my poached egg on toast tomorrow morning.

    Cheers

  • Yeeshkul says wow thanks so much this works great you are the best .

  • thank you. waiting for my gas guy to connect my new hob and really fanced runny egg. now time to test my new micro wave out yummy

  • Nice, what is that tune? Like it.

  • Very interesting

  • salt !

  • I love salt and pepper on my eggs but left that addition up to each cook! Thanks.

  • I can't imagine going to a restaurant to order poached eggs when I can make them so easily at home!

  • That might be a method of "poaching" eggs, but the end result is nothing like the proper method... can you imagine being served something looking like that in a restaurant ?

  • Mine looked better, and a little more runny with a minute 15. That one looked a bit over-cooked, and I think that about twice as much water works better. By the way, a lot of restaraunts use the microwave to do this.

  • I found it first on Recipezaar which called for using the piece of toast as the "cup" to hold the egg in. Microwave toast isn't good!

  • Nice video, just like something I found on Instructables.
