Apple came out with the new iPhone 3g S. Twice the batter life and speed. G1 is nice but the screen can still be scratched and the battery life has not been improved since it's first firmware release when it came out.

The G1 because I had a sidekick and they put a lot of restrictions on it. You cannot even make your own ringtones...

the sidekick is mainly for txting aiming and email and all of that

the g1 does that with a faster connection

u have more limitation as stated above on the g1 and u can use different apps that u have more of a selection with

i got my g1 2 weeks and yes the attery suckk but its worth it if you are a addictive user to the g1 i suggest u buy a second battery for the g1 just case urs diess

i totally agree. mp3 and phone should be totally seperate. if you are a heavy mp3 user and heavy smart phone user, the iphone will leave you stranded, regardless of how many extra chargers you keep around. thats why i have a 32gb itouch and opted instead to order a G1 to use next to that instead of switching to an iphone

i use edge and brightness low so the battery is ok, and i get to charge it for an hour in my photo class and it lasts the rest the day so its got an ok battery life if ur wise about it and not on it nonstop.

well to tell ya the truth the sliding of the screen doesn't cause it its the little be of play in the hinge that slides the screen that makes a tiny noise somtimes.. its just the plastic rubbing against each other. and it doesn't seem to be getting any worse. there is just a little bit of play. thats it! so I guess they could have spend a little more money making that a bit more solid but it deffently passes as far as im consern'd

Sorry mate but I'm not going to hold your hand on this one. The real truth is that the G1 is a sup standard phone. I for one was quite saddened by the android OS and this is coming from someone who works on phones for a living. ALL DIFFERENT types of phones.

The G1 has a terrible layout with the slide out keyboard... it's not ballanced it feels AWEFUL in your hand. As for MP3 playing... why have two devices when you can use 1 device? I hate all things apple yet I use the iphone its the best.

well this is the great thing about youtube, America and pretty much the net.. you are able to have your own opinion about something. I personally love this phone and hate the Iphone.. if I had about 1400 I would buy the HTC Shift but I dont.. and I had the athena and went down to the G1 because it just was a better phone for me. see that is what is great what is a great phone for the user.

I own an iPhone right now and I plan on switching to a G1.

The iPhone is cool for media and internet browsing, but that's all it's really good for.

The G1 is better as an actual phone, I'm sick of not being able to send or receive picture messages without hacking my phone to get an MMS application that I have to pay for just to use. The g1 is the first phone keyboard i actually like, i love it. your only talking about music and the keyboard of the phone, what about its open source, and flash 10 coming soon, plus the compass feature in google maps, and so much more, the g1 will only get better, if u only care for music then just get the itouch then.

totally agree, no matter how many features are on, your not going to be playing on it non stop, it'll last through out the day and if you charge it when you sleep you'll be good to go the next day.
