  • Biggest complaint that I have read about this is weight issues. The website says that it holds 25lbs at any angle - but have read several reviews that say otherwise. Anyone have any experiences? I have a very solid base, but don't want something thats going to crash down on me if I've got it angled with 19 lbs lbs of gear on it. I really like the concept of this design... Anyone know?

  • If they would make something that supports a 50lb rig it would be great. I like Acratech but need something to hold more weight.

  • A few questions come to mind. How is the gimbal feature of the GV2 different from the drop notch which is available on most other ball heads? And if the screw-knob clamps is preferred because it fits different brand plates, then why do they ask what plates you want to use it with?

  • Good run up of the head :)

I have heard the head shifts to the right when locked down tightly. Is this true?

Does the head move slightly in any direction when being tightened?

    Thanks

  • jmitchener - Sorry for such a late response. Not sure what the pate number is. But ask the folks at Acratech and they will send you the right one. They are great folks.

  • i got 1 its tops though it should come with a little bag to store it in

  • Is that a BG-E2N grip? What plate are you using for it? Their site only lists a plate for the BG-E2, curious if it fits the new one as well.

  • Yes. Dimensions of the E2 and E2N are the same so the same plates can be used with either.
