In order for a suit to work, they would have to have a cause of action.

What did Mrs Drew do? Well, she accessed a website under a false name. That's not illegal and not a cause for a lawsuit. I can go down the street giving a fake name to everyone I meet, but no one could sue me for it.

The judge didn't say she wasn't wrong - he didn't want to set a particular legal precedent. Just watch and wait. Lori Drew is going to eventually have to pay for what she did.

From what I've read, her mother did tell her to log off and there had been arguments about it. It doesn't sound like she was an irresponsible parent. You have to at least give her some credit for being very direct in her accusation unlike most parents caught in this sort of thing that look for any escape goat. I'd be willing to give her the benefit of the doubt on this one.
