I read a lot of comments saying that this album sucks. I have to say that I was more impressed with this album than with any other that they have done. I like PAAF more than any other of their albums though. This album impressed me most because you can not only hear the pain, but you can feel the pain that he's in when you listen to these songs. They show a softer and more vulerable side of Brian, and I'm really impressed with that, especially in this particular song.

This song is simply beautiful. Manson will never stop impressing me. He's a genius, even though people might say his music is bad (they don't know what they're talking about definitely). I just think this song shows us his human side, his feelings, his fears, his pain and how much he's suffering because of someone. It's a piece of art in my opinion. BTW, I find the video interesting and intriguing.

Try to listen to "In the Shadow of the Valley of Death", "The Speed of Pain", "The Fall of Adam" and the acustic versions of "I Have to Look Up Just to See Hell" and "Wight Spider"... they talk about different themes, but they're quite soft, like this one =)

twiggy, vrenna, and manson make up a great team, but they need a guitarist that can rip things up again! Skold was great with the solos on EMDM. And John 5 was just brilliant on golden age. I just don't feel the guitar work too much on this album.

I don't know why you got so many negative thumbs. Do they disagree that Skold didn't tear up EMDM? For just guitar and nothing else I think that was easily Manson's best record. And like you, though I actually loved this album for different reasons, didn't really get much from the guitar parts for HEOL.

Yeah I don't honestly believe that Skold was the reason EMDM was a little sloppy. Manson said himself it was a really dark time in his life, and the album he was trying to make was uninterested in becoming commercially successful. Skold did well on EMDM's guitar, and other instruments.

HEOL lost the guitar a bit, but got manson's gritty sarcastic singing back. (I only have beef with tracks like We're From America, where its just one B powerchord with harmonics and electronic beats.)

I don't know if the guitar solo on Fundamentally Loathsome was Twiggy or their stage guitarist at the time (Zim???) but I think that's the best solo in a Manson song. And then EMDM came out and Skold just lit that recording booth on fire. Oh my god, the solos on EMDM are excellent. HEOL isn't bad, but I think because of Tim Skold that EMDM is better.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But to me it seems that with EMDM, Manson took a step forward. You have to admit that EMDM doesn't really sound like any other Manson album (With the exception of the acoustic songs off of HolyWood) Where HEOL sounds like a mixture of HW and MA. Maybe better written than the old stuff, but not as good. I would much rather listen to MA over any other Manson album.....even EMDM

I have mixed feelings about this song. I love it, and it sounds good, calming, beautiful, but I also hate it because it sounds sad and depressed. If you listen closely throughout songs 1-8 you'll hear he sounds a bit sad and depressed, but songs 9-15 you can hear him regaining his motivation and love for making music.

However, I did give this a 5 star rating.

@beanbag85 Eh. His new album isn't his greatest album, the songs aren't always that strong, but what do you expect? He was still in a bit of a depressive state during songs 1-8 and was begginning to like making music again at 9-15. The one he's currently recording will probally and hopefully be more satisfactory then both THEoL and EMDM. All his albums seem to tell a story, a story of his life.
