@SoCalJohnston Yeah it was a pretty big project, which I'm still working on :D. I guess I can't give you the answer if it's worth it for you, you have to decide what reasons that you would either want to swap or build up what you have.
The only major problems I had swapping was wedging the 351w in there and fitting some exhaust to it, it's a tight fit. Also with staying fuel injection, I ran out of hood space with how tall the manifolds rose up, had to buy a 4" cowl induction.
@g00b3r7 well I wouldnt stay with the fuel injection but it sounds like alot but I think im going to do it. I will just sell the old 302 and t-5 and get a 351 or 408 with a tko 500 tranny
sounds GREAT! Do you have full length or shorty headers?? any cats??
I just installed BBK Full Length headers, and i'm running just thru those and it's TOO LOUD. my neighbor called the police.. did installing mufflers quiet yours down alot?
god dang man....... thats a setup to kill right there. No need to supercharger or Nos for that. lol.. I've never seen a Fuel Injected Windsor before. This ought to be neat. All that sounds like a great combination together. All this is in a different mustang right? The AOD's are reliable trannys. Mine AOD has just over 200k on it and sitll going in my Notch.
Yeah I think it would be. I have a friend that had a 94 Mustang GT Auto. H/C/E. It was so slow. He had no gear or stall. But your setup does make or break how everything works together. Yeah! I want to see your 408W. What do you have done to it? Yeah, does he not put the power to the ground at all with his suspension setup?
My 408W is bored/stroked out 351W, with all the goodies done to it. Eagle crank, rods, pistons, Clay Smith custom cam, Ford Racing pushrods and lifters, ARP hardware, Canton windage tray, Ford Racing oil pan, Crane rocker arms.
Edelbrock Performer heads with complete headwork, Trick Flow intake system, Trick Flow 32lb injectors, BBK 75mm throttle body, BBK cold air, Hooker full length swap headers and a Summit mass air meter.
Yeah I don't think just a cam alone will kill it too bad just like you said. Thanks for all the info. His setup is nice. I prefer your setup. Yours sounds meaner than his does. Ever raced his car before?
No problem, I'd say the gas mileage loss will be worth it if you really want the power. I need to get a record of my 408W.
He has raced it a good dozen times in the last year, but he has had very undesirable results. It will have a mid 13sec run, then afterwards it just drops. It's a low 13sec car with his motor, but was having major suspension problems. He put new control arm/rear end bushing and all new shocks all around in the back after last week...should have a good time this weekend =]
thats nice man. thanks for the reply and info. I have 1 more thing. How bad did the heads and cam kill your gas consumption? I have a bone stock ex georgia state patrol mustang with (now 200k HARD miles) and I want to put a E or B Cam in it with SR200 heads but Im not sure how bad it will kill my gas mileage. I get about 23mpg now.
If a B303 goes in, I don't think there will be much MPG loss. E303 possibly a bit of MPG, and and some with the heads too. You'll probably end up at around maybe 17-19 combined mileage. I haven't experienced those heads, but I see the stats they might be the dealbreaker on MPG.
My cousin has a B303 w/ port/polish heads w/ Crane 1.6 rockers and he is down to 15mpg, mostly city driving. His is the other video, so you can hear the difference =]
It was great on the low end with the intake/head combo, but it does flatten out a bit on the top end. The E303 would be a better N/A choice with slight upgrades. F303 is good for lots of air/forced induction.
No0o0o0o0o get a DSS super pro bullet. procharge it flowmaster 40's, BBK offroad x,and bbk longtubes and you not only have the best soundin stang aaround but a 10 second car depending on your boost levels. good for 600+ horses
how much does it cost to have these headers and this cam, plus the labor....does the car run good enough to be daily driver???......what is the mpg

hey man was the swap a huge pain? Is it worth me swapping motors? And did you run into any major problems while doing the swap?

They were shorty headers, no cats. The Flowmaster 40s were very throaty but quiet enough to no bother much.
But I am running open full length header on my new setup on my latest vids =]

This has to be the best sounding Mustang I have heard. What kind of Edelbrock Heads do you have on there? Nice car man!
iiidreamiii 3 years ago
They are Edelbrock Performer 5.0 heads 1.90"in/1.60"ex w/ Crane rocker arms. They have been completely worked over and are now on my 408W =].
