  • I enjoyed your video very much! You have some great, rare pictures... ones I've never seen.. And I've been a major fan for quite some time. Great job!

  • who was the first one singing this song with lyrics? always thought it was a Charlie Chaplin lyrics. Now i see that the C.C authory is in the music.

  • @SusanaNeves7 Do you mean who wrote the lyrics? I'm not sure, but Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, Michael Jackson, all those people SANG it first. I believe Judy was the first to sing it, but I can't remember the names of the men who wrote the song. I can look into that if you'd like.

  • Questa musica fa venire le lacrime agli occhi..

    Meraviglioso, insuperabile Chaplin..!!!!

  • I've loved Chaplin since I was a itttle girl and cried for days when he died. You did a wonderful job putting this video together...thank you.

  • Meravigliosa versione ... tocca il profondo del cuore

  • Its great to see so many videos to this great man. I read his autobiography sometime ago and am currently reading the biography on him by David Robinson. I can't get enough of him and its all Robert Downey Jnr fault but i'll gladly forgive him.

  • He wrote the music, but not the words. It was his theme music for his Movie "Modern Times." His leading lady was Paulette Goddard.

  • The name of the song is "Smile." Smile when your heart is breaking(aching) etc. can't remember the lyrics.

  • @Rtmax45 Yes, I know.

  • When I see Charlie all dressed in a suit, without the make up, He looks like a President. Maybe he should have been. Wonderful tribute.

  • i love charlie chaplin flims thanks for posting

  • Please watch the film 'Chaplin', a great film, about a great Londoner, Charlie Chaplin.

  • @Hania454 I have

  • Charlie Chaplin was a genius ! against all odds (he had a shit childhood growing up in england) BUT ... he MADE IT in the good ol usa Then uh oh he spoke out against the usas corrupt govt policies in other words he told THE TRUTH but , despite his FAME he was called a communist by the usa govt and they expelled him from that country haha the IRONY (so much for free speech and integrity in a so called "democracy") Chaplin exposed their hypocrisy GREAT HUMAN BEING !!

  • Even though Charlie played a Tramp and he wore a hat and moustache so he was a handsome man, his eyes and smile is amazing..he was charmer..Charlie had charm and charism.. He was clever, genius, a dream of every girl I think..Sometimes I am sad I couldn't live in the same time like he but I say myself I can be happy I got possibility watch his films and watch his art in time where I live:) I hope our souls will meet together, I love you Charlie Chaplin :)

  • this is beautiful long live Charlie Chaplin huge fan here

  • It was apparently written about his son, or one of them. They kept dying and it broke his heart but he knew he still had to go out there and smile because it was his job, to make others laugh.

  • @CharlieChaplinsAngel yes, but she was grateful with michael jackson

  • @CharlieChaplinsAngel I think that comment was this is refered to "Michael" Jackson.Lovely music but who wrote the lyrics to it ? I will google ;-)

  • I had no idea he was so handsome...in a very different way from his character...I would have thought his eyes were dark brown..but they look light when he isnt wearing the eyeliner...like blue? What a talent he was!

  • yeah they were a really deep blue, almost a violet, as some said. well some said in the right light, his eyes did look violet

  • @CharlieChaplinsAngel Did you know that He was rumored to actually be a woman because no women could get acting roles back then?

  • @CharlieChaplinsAngel a beautiful, beautiful man and a stunning soul - and he has children and grandchildren now, living and breathing among us. Not the last being Christopher John Chaplin, his youngest son, now late 40's...... I never met Charlie, nor Michael Jackson, but as far as I am concerned they were angels sent to earth to show us what joy meant. :-)

  • I don't agree. I actually think he was very very ugly, but when in the tramp costume he looked very beautiful...

  • Thank you so much. This is so beautiful, a worthy tribute to a great man, who can still make us smile.

  • Simply exquisite!

  • Hi CC angel, thanks for posting! Other than a great actor comedian, He's a good dancer, acrobat, skater and he wrote the music smile, what can't He do?I saw this movie where Robert Downey Jr played the role, and my impression is behind the camera,he live a very sad life.can you educate me on this.

  • of course I can =) And yes, his life was very successful on the screen, but behind it, his life was very sad. Like in 1926-1927 he while he was making the circus, his mother died, the set burned down and the water from that caused the costumes to be ruined and he was going through his second divorce with Lita Grey. Anything else you want to know, just ask =)

  • thanks again CC Angel, I have to see the movie again, last time i wacth it was like 6 years ago maybe.

  • anytime =) Just call me Charlie all my friends do. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. =) Or ideas for my videos, i'm open for suggestions =D

  • did charlie chaplin ever actually sing this song or was it just the music he created? if anyone knows anything about the song i would appriciate any info.

  • Hi! No Chaplin never sang it nor did he write the words, but he DID write the song in this video. Artists like Michael Jackson and Nat King Cole have sung it before, but Chaplin never did. =)

  • thanks for letting me know....i wonder who put the words to it then because its a good song.... i didnt realize michael sung it and its on his HIStory album which i have had for years lol i was also moved when jermaine sung it for michael .. he has a lovely voice also.

  • The words were written by John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons

  • Thanks for clearing that up haha =)

  • thanks for letting me know. i was curious.... =D

  • I adore you Charlie,,,after you no actor was born, no film was directed, no story was told,,,

    Heilger , Einzeger!

  • Bellissima melodia!!!

Quanti bei ricordi della mia infanzia, bravo.

    Edgar

  • so beautiful song! you did my evening so pleasent, my dear friend! thank you so much

  • I really apreciated seeing your short tribute to Charlie Chaplin. For years I have tried to find a version of his song smile that was done in a true classical arrangement that does his work justice. All I could find was junk that was MUZAK..ed or Lawrence Welk..ed

Where did you obtain your version of his song? I would like to use it in a short documentary. Any help would be apreciated.

  • i too have tears. when every i feel my lowest lows, i sing this song, 'smile', to myself. and i think of charlie and feel happy again. And now, if i every need a pick me up, i will look at this video. you have done a beutiful job. thank you for working so hard on it.

  • This is the best!!! This song is one of my best songs!!! I love Chaplin´s movies and music!!! Charles Chaplin - king of comedy!!!!

  • Beautiful video;)

Chaplin can put a smile on any one's face.

  • ...very nice...I didn't turn the volume up, and it kind of nice to have it "rise up" in the middle ---he was a good and kind man ---and very brave......you did a good job!

  • great man charlie

  • simply one of the very best! thank you....

  • thank you! :D

  • I love it. Put more music on here from his films please! =]

  • i definityly will once i get more :)

  • Nice work! Where's the pic of him in drag from?

  • the one of him leaning on the guy?

  • Oh, I thought the closeup of a lady was Charlie!

  • o it is lol there are 2 of him in drag xD if u send me ur email address thru PM i could send it to u

  • it is actually he was , he was hiding from a director and , dressed up as a lady , the film was called the masqrader

  • It's from an early short called 'A Woman', where he avoids being beaten up a man he pushed in a lake by dressing up as a woman. It's quite funny - the man ends up flirting with Charlie, who has to keep up the charade for the sake of his own health.

  • no its not , i have the film , on dvd its called the masquerader , its about charlie getting , kicked out of a movie studio and gets back at them dressing as a woman , and there was no short by chaplin called a women , your thinking of a woman in paris , which was only directed by chaplin

  • yes it is. there is a short called a woman when chaplin is forced to dress up like a woman because Edna's father is the one he pushed into the pond in a park. and WillWivell, is right. both men do fight over charlie. when edna's dad finds out it's him, he freaks out. look up "a woman" on here. it's a very funny film actually! lol

  • There is both, A Woman and The Masquerader. Masquerader is with the studio, and A Woman is with the hiding from the man.

  • omg i know, i luv because of how freakin awesome he is and i agree with ur grandad. he was amazing. he could write books and he could compose music and he could act, and he could direct.. he was amazing <3

  • I ADORE Charlie....no seriously...if i was alive when he was i would totally propose!! he's hilarious...and my granddad still can't believe that one man alone wrote this song...

  • exactly! he was a very dedicated man! he followed his heart.

  • You did a magnificent job. Thank you! I'm sure that Chaplin would agree.

  • aww thnx. i love chaplin :)
