Had this and labral tear anchored at same time. PT on day two which was light easy stretching. Now 2 weeks post op. PT now 3 days/week, includes manual stretching and range of motion with limits. Dr. Prescribed vacadin as needed (didn't use) 800 mg of prescription aleve 2x day. And baby aspirin for 45 days. Had a nerve block which lasted 24 hours and was great, I did have some numbness that went to side if my face, no big deal. Had a cryo cuff which was phenomenal at night when I'd wake with du
Ive just been told im having this op done in 12 weeks time. It was nice to see what is going to be done and it was great reading the comments that people have written below. I can now get some sort of idea what is going to happen to me. Thanks everyone.
Once i have had my op done i will comment so anyone else having this op done, will benefit from it as i have. Thanks everyone x
i had this done last september and i feel like a new person 95% movement back in arm but it took 6 months of physio and shoulder classes but well worth having it done
it's been two weeks since my operation ... and only pain is some soreness from the procedure. I, like some below, have had almost full range of movement from a few days after the op. Fortunately no need to repair any soft tissue ... hence the rapid and excellent results! Opted for the 'block' as pain relief for 24 hours after (numbs the shoulder in a similar way (but not the same) as having injections for dental work.) Pain killers after ... but pain was less than before ... so manageable!
Had mine done about 2 1/2 years ago. Sore as hell for the first few weeks but pretty much full range of motion within 8 months. Only time I get pain now is in cold wet weather or if I sleep funny on it.
I had mine done last Thursday 27th May 10 and I have had little pain, just a bit of soreness. I can lift my arm almost up to shoulder height. I had the bone spur removed and the surgeon said that my tendons were thin, but still connected, not bad considering I tore both of them a few years back. I guess I have been lucky.
its been 2 weeks since my surgery and I am still in pain, and having a hard time sleeping. My doctor doesnt believe in prescribing anything stronger than Lortab which I don't like and makes me sick. I hope it gets better with time, but it feels like now I have more pain then what I went in with.
I had this done 3 weeks ago, the first 3 days were the worst, but still finding it hard to sleep and have pain. Loads of cussions under the affected arm/shoulder help, as does letting the affected arm "hang" down. Tramadol can help in the night.
I'm having a SAD in my right shoulder in two days (and on the left side also, hopefully ASAP).
It seems my impingement kept itself at an early stage, as RMI did not show any damage to the rotator cuff tendons, therefore I hope my healing will be a matter of weeks - instead of months.
I guess recovery times strictly depend on further damage to the tendons. If tendons are not torn, then healing will concern mostly their status of inflamation. However I will be sure only after the surgery ;)
I had this done just over 3 years ago. The doctor kept me in a sling for 6 weeks and when I started physical therapy my shoulder was completely locked up. I had 3 shoulder manipulations, 2 years straight of PT and ended up having to go to another surgeon and had to have a second surgery to get my shoulder to release. That was the end of my baseball career...
I just came from the Dr who told me I need this procedure on my right shoulder. I was shocked to hear I need surgery at all! Is this really worth it? The Dr said the healing process would be 3-4 days and not months as I read below. Please can anyone tell me how painful this really is as I am put off totally by this.
It's a procedure that depends on the extent of the damage and your current age/physical condition. Days may be very optimistic for many, but possible for some [this of course doesn't mean 100% healing in 3-4 days!]. If there is damage to the RC or labrum then obviously the recovery time becomes longer.
i had my right shoulder done in 2003 now im having impingement in my left shoulder this is friggin ridiculous now, now i know what the surgery in progress looks like now though
Can someone please tell me what a;; the white cotton-y looking stuff is? My 89 year old grandma just had this done last night, first surgery in her entire life!
I just had this procedure done five days ago. Some aching and slight pain remaining, but doing physical therapy and my exercises at home. I'm looking forward to being able to sleep on my left side again. My question is where does all that debris go that one sees flying around in the video?
I had this done 6 days ago. I am surprised at how little pain I had, everything just feels tight and aches. It's the physio I am not looking forward to!

Had this op done 4 months ago. Healing process is quite slow as those raw bone edges need to heal.
Also, being keyhole surgery, I naively thought it would be a quick
in and out job but ended up with an overnight stay.
Found physio not much of a problem, apart from finding the time to fit it into the daily regime.
Back in the gym now, shoulder pretty much fixed although a little clunky, original supraspinatus pain fixed.
Probably need another 2/3 months to fully heal.
