PACE Standing Committee calls Greece to recognize Macedonian minority

The Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted Friday in Paris a Resolution on Protection of Minority Rights, which calls on Greece to sign the Convention for Protection of the National Minorities and recognize the Macedonian minority.

BULGARIA - Recognized Macedonia as Republic of Macedonia.

More than 90% of the WORLD including all the WORLD POWERS, eg: USA, UK, RUSSIA, CHINA, INDIA, ect all recognize Republic of Macedonia.

127 governments truly do not care what you name yourselves .Serbian and Bulgarian governments have something in it for themselves .naturally they created you .

But the people of these countries all know that you are not the real Macedonians .

The ancient Greek historians and geographers from the classical and the post-classical period, Ephoros, Pseudo-Skylax, Dionysius son of Kalliphon, and Dionysius Periegetes, all put the northern borders of Greece at the line from the Ambracian Gulf in the west to the Peneios River to the east, thus excluding Macedonia from Greece.

Please Fyrom do not worry about the 1,5 Mil. Macedonians that are in Greece . we have decided to just be called Greeks or( Ellines ) a few thousand years ago ..just like the Spartans and the Athenians , thanks Now worry about this name dispute . as your name still has no legitimacy . and is slipping , more people are waking up to see that you pulled a fast one . 127 nations do not care what you call yourselves .. all your neighbors do .

Macedonia ( Greece )...

Macedonia is named after the Macedonians, not after the geography

greeks are not macedonians, never have been known or called macedonians, not in ancient times, not in the middle ages, not in 1912 when they occupied half of Macedonia and not when they ethnically cleansed the Macedonians living there....your attempt to portray ancient macedonians the same as ancient greeks has NO LEGITIMACY, it's only based on quotes that show Alexander was bilingual, nothing more...that gives no legitimacy

Macedonians lived in a land called Macedonia at the time .

Spartans lived in a land called Sparta at the time

Athenians lived in a land called Athens at that time .

when we dig up artifacts / stones written in Greek ,,

it is safe to say they were all under the umbrella which is Greece . there for Legitimate .

Slaves lived east of Russia and came to the area 1000 years later ,, so we can definitely say

they were NOT the Great Macedonians .

No Legitimacy what so ever .

never mind that russians have said hundreds of times there is NOTHING there to show a big movement of people

or never mind that balkan toponyms in ancient world

are slavic...

or never mind that linguists say that macedonian is the ROOT LANGUAGE to all other slavic languages, not russian,

just believe what suits you, i guess...

The historic truth is that the Slavs descended into the region not before the 6th century long after ancient Macedonia was homogenized with the rest of Greece. They don't have any historical cultural or linguistic ties with ancient Macedonia and they would be really foolish if they officially claimed that they did. There is no historic or archaeological evidence connecting them with ancient Macedonia.

In any case occupying 12% of ancient Macedonian land does not give you the right to steal the Macedonian history and culture. The Macedonian civilization was part of the ancient Greek civilization. It is part of Greece's national inheritance and it can not be used by anyone else.

Macedonians live in ALL OF MACEDONIA

not just in the Republic of Macedonia

just because greece doesn't recognize the 1,5 million macedonians living there, doesn't make us "anyone else"

we re still macedonians and you still greeks

It should be noted that there is no connection between the Macedonians of the time of Alexander the Great who were related to other Hellenic tribes and the Macedonians of today, who are of Slavic Origin and related to the Bulgarians.

it was Tito in 1944 that tried to make a pseudomacedonian nation based on the Slavs of southern Yugoslavia. Tito changed the name of S. Serbia from Vardarska to Macedonia, copoying the name of the Greek province. With that action, Tito wanted to achieve three things.

a. To weaken Serbia

b. To prevent Bulgaria from annexing Vardarska by using its nationals (who were and still are the majority in Skopje)

c. To advance territorial aspirations against the historic Macedonian province of Greece
