morrison may have had the most fascinating & sadly tragic dad/son relationship in re to the famous in '60's era. each rose quickly to elite status in their chosen professions having profound impact to historical events/times. sadly like many of the era, the generation gap was so wide they they couldnt communicate. sad jim didnt live to see that mended. his dad just this year gave a touching tribute, comparing jim to fighter pilots he flew w/ in ww2, brave spirits who flew too close to the sun.

I wonder if the admiral & his mom saw this live back in that day... jim is certainly missed.

great tune, i do prefer the darker stuff with an edge like 5 to 1, crystal ship, the end, i saw them in vegas a few yrs back, i had mixed feelings, it was like seeing the beatles get back together but someone subbing for John & george, just not quite right. ian the lead singer seemed caught in trying to fill some big shoes & just having his own identity. it was great to hear robbie, he played his ass off. you can tell he & Ray were really missin the scene of the old days.

This was never on the Sullivan show. Unlike many rock singers, Morrison sung most of his tv appearances live and did a wonderfull job. He was a consumate professional during TV tapings. The other Doors during this appearance on The Smother Btrothers Comedy Hour were miming themselves on the prerecorded studio recording (w/o the vocal track).

Thanks for the explanation of Robbie's shiner davecity! Thanks for sharing this vid! I LOVE this song one of my all time fave Doors songs-one of the sadly over-shadowed Robbie's greatest. Alot of people think Jim wrote it. It moves me deeply. When I hear I think of Jim and Pam and it brings tears to my eyes. I feel he was singing it to her. :(
