@oliverbrady96 Unfortunately, the true musicians are ignored by the majority of people in favor of Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Who knows what horrible things may happen if we start listening to music with meaning. We might think, and no one wants that to happen.
Hey CrystalOJune - Check out Matt Nathanson's new album "Modern Love" you'll get a shot of what I'm talking about in terms of HOPE FOR THE FUTURE of rock n'roll! Like Brendan James, Matt's nearly knocking down the door of greatness in a singer/songwriter too. A smart promoter could pair James and Nathanson on a concert tour and blow the lid off the scene
@CrystalOJune - Yep, you're got brother, I'm a Boomer! Younger than Bruce and Jackson Browne, and definitely Dylan. Lets just say that I've seen music take many twists and turns over the past 40 yrs. especially since the 1967 Summer of Love, the infamous Monteray Pop Festival where the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Otis Redding, The Byrds, and Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin all performed, its all been great
@CrystalOJune - They are all still quite young and could become something more than what we're seeing today, Gaga I doubt. Maybe JB. Stevie Wonder & Michael J were very young when they were starting. However, if people are dying of thirst and you offer them nothing but sand, they'll drink the sand. the Recording Industry Association of America will report its official figures in the early spring, the trend has been very clear: RIAA has reported declining revenue in nine of the past 10 years,
@LiberTBo So what you're saying is music like this will become mainstream again? I can't say I see how. If this music was what the general populace wanted, it would have more that 51 000 views. I know that talent can grow into more and I've heard good things about the Jackson 5. I think Donny Osmond started pretty young too and he did well. But that was a while ago. I can understand the decline in revenue, but I don't see how THIS could bounce back.
@CrystalOfJune -Yes, I’m visualizing out beyond the barricades of the present. John Hammond of Columbia Records was a tremendous visionary, one who discovered and assisted in the growth of both Bob Dylan in 1962’s “Bob Dylan” to Bruce Springsteen in 1973’s “Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.,” when many people had written off music after Elvis Presley left the door open. Music has veered and mutated itself in many divergent forms in my lifetime, and I expect it will continue.Music and artists both
@LiberTBo Something tells me you're older than me... I dunno, just a feeling. But that doesn't quite answer my question. Music can mutate, yes, but I don't think mainstream music will revert back into music like this, like Bob Dylan and whatnot.
There's more than One Tree Hill. The Day is Brave, which was released by Decca Records in June 2008 and debuted in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. Several of its songs were featured on various television shows including Private Practice, Bones, So You Think You Can Dance, and Army Wives. That was 2008, now three years down the road, Brendan's still awesome, but still under viewed and listened to. Why? I think Decca failed BJ, what does anyone else think?
@LiberTBo Think about todays artists. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and so on. What can you say about them? Personally, I've nothing against them and I'll listen to a song or two. But what is their music about? Shallow love of children, money, sex, drugs, partying... This is what the general populace has come to love and listen to. You listen to this song and what do you hear? I hear heart and soul with a melody. This, my friend, is gold. But people don't want gold anymore. Just sex.
What does Brendan means with "like a beggar on my knees, never knowing what I now believe?" What does this mean? Is this supposed to have some religious connection?
This song is so close to perfection that I could actually cry (and that's really rare), it has become one of those song that I will never forget ... So inspiring,beautiful,mind-blowing ...
OTH brought me to loving Brendan James' music, & a few months back, I got to meet him (: I was the ONLY one in the crowd that knew him & I got his autograph, it meant so much, he wrote this to me in the autograph, "To Devon, the only one who listens. Brendan James"
half of my playlists are musics from OTH. this tv program owns seriously. im at the part with clay who opens his eyes, episode 3, season 8. (french episodes)
Wow, I've had Brendan James' music in my music library for a couple of years. I saw him on a morning show a week ago; simply amazing. His music has a evolved to a point which I saw often look for in an artist. I love for the music and the lyrics to reach inside and touch my soul; Brendan James does just that on his latest album. If you have the ability to actually feel music, consider yourself blessed. Brendan James knows just how to keep you wanting more. Thanks Brendan. BC
