For me Apple sucks a lot with their proprietary and 'own-reality-distorted' devices but one thing i can say about them: they really work! And they work mostly because 1) Apple cares about security and compatibility and 2) Apple updates their software. Which is clearly not the case of Motorolo in my country.

My sister got an iPad 2 today and I have to say that Apple is still on top of the tablet market.

I am eyeing for a Nook Color though. 7-inch screen with almost same resolution as iPad is very luring to my need of a color PDF reader and I don't consider Honeycomb ready for it's prime time yet and will rather stick to Froyo/Gingerbread for now.

Xoom has a USB port, whereas the iPad2 does not.  Apple pretty much handcuffs the user by intentionally omitting this simple (and extremely useful) feature. If you want to add content, you're forced to synch with or buy from iTunes or Amazon.

@jaypapaz That's one day to look at it. But only is Flash one of the most used platforms on the web, and it's popularity is increasing for interactive applications used everywhere. What is the hype about Flash? Can you tell me what the hype is about javascript, html, css or php just to name a few? Probably not.

I'm not a fanboy of either OS. But I think Android is a way better mobile platform with a way more exciting future ahead. BTW, I use Apple desktops because I'm an Interaction Designer.

Google ALLOWS their codecs to be public so ppl can build new apps with out Google being in charge to say yes or no to an app. the UI is customizable instead of a set homescreen display

What ive realized is apple is more focused on simplicity and design over specs, a lot of eye candy. Smooth animations when switching applications and sliding through screens, also the smoothest browsing experience. Android is more complex, but you can do a lot more with android, customizing home screens, flashing custom roms etc.

For this reason I prefer Android, you'll never get bored of your phone. Especially if you flash your phone with custom roms.

what exactly does it lack? It's 10x faster than ipad2, can run flash, has a better graphic chip, and runs honeycomb, which rapes ios in ways you didn't even think was possible. I'm getting a Xoom, because of the customization features and overall Android experience. But I must say you are wrong when it comes to Apple in general. Their PCs are truly amazing. I'm a longtime PC user and I recently got an iMac for video editing and now it is my primary computer. Yes, it's expensive. But more and more I feel they justify their prices.

@green11420 it really just depends on what pc you were at before. Mac no doubt is great, but you can easily build a pc that can out perform it at a fraction of the cost. I use my 3 year old laptop for video editing, but with 5gb of ram, and a good video card, it performs flawlessly on AE or any other video editing software.

@xXItachiXx06 I was coming off of a 4-5 year old laptop that had really great specs when I first got it but kept struggling more and more after each os upgrade (It has seen 3 windows os's, from xp to 7). It worked best with xp, but each upgrade killed it a bit more (7 worked better than vista though). I used a friend's computer that came standard with windows 7 and it runs beautifully. I think my mistake was pushing my laptop beyond what it was designed for. Still, no regrets on the Mac purchase

nice tablet... but nothing i mean nothing can replace a fast laptop....and for the price of a xoom you can get a serious pc laptop,,,,i would rather get the Creative ZiiO since its half the price $319 and does everything that a person pretty much would want to do with a tablet....i would never want to pay for an expensive 3g data plan for a tablet especially since they dont give you much monthly data (4-5 gigs monthly max included) i use 30 to 38 gigs with my clear 4 g service on my laptop......

Clear wireless doesnt have a data cap so these tablets should have support for a usb modems in the future if they dont already

@zeretmusicent That is true, but to get a laptop with a touch screen which everyone wants nowadays would cost a lot more then a tablet. I would consider buying a touch monitor if you didn't want a tablet but still wanted the touch capabilities. It would probably cost more, but you would get a bigger screen and better features as that a laptop usually has better parts ect.

I was not impressed with my hands on experience with the zoom. For one

1. It didn't have very many tablet ready apps

2. The screen light was low even when the brightness was at it's max.

3. Theres an issue with the image resizing

4. Extremely choppiness when browsing the web

5. Not as responsive in portrait mode, works pretty good on landscape mode

6. Screen rotation is slow to respond

7.your only allowed up to 5 screens while iPad has up to 11 screens

These are the reason why I'm not gettin
