yah, not only that.... we're responsible to pay it all up front. So, when you get $50,000 worth of cars handed to you, you have to pay the sales tax immediately, plus title and license fees. In California, the tax is approx 10%... so, $5000. Then the $25,000 in cash gets taxed as income, both state and federal.... so about 27% minimum which is about $11k. So he's left with $14k to pay for the taxes on the cars, the scooter. Then title, license... call it about $2k for all 3 vehicles. Crap.
