Living in jungle in Hawaii for almost a year is normal for some of us growers. I eat vegetation bug soup,fish. I have a S&W stainless steel 357, but I keep tons of 38+P ammo barred in a ammo can. I wear Light cloths that cover me, best boots, keep fit. Know about every plant around you. Carry antibiotics, salt, ammo, pistol and anti fungus cream hygiene stuff, misquote net, Nalgine bottle, and plastic tarp, etc. don't carry more then 15, lbs. Blend in if you have to slip into town.

tgambill offers a good strategy for hunting by using a partner as backup defense. However, that assumes that you have access to a partner while you are hunting. This may not be the case. In this situation, a military rifle is adequate (not ideal) but adequate for the task, in order that you may still defend yourself. Again, there are many strategies in survival, we are offering only a particular set, which may work for most, but not all.

go to snare-trap-survive and you can learn a lot about survival. The ramline double stack mags for 10-22 are some of the worst on the market for jamming single stack works better. Also you have not cover what is the best shells for hunting. Lots of information having un tested equipment is not a good idea it just stuff. You need to get out and practice. Practice hunting cleaning the game tanning the hides etc.

Believe me, the equipment has been tested. Also, that IS a single stack mag I am holding in my hand, not a double stack. The military rounds shown in the vid and rifles used to fire them are perfectly adequate for bringing down large game, and any 22 round will do fine for small game.

Also, .223 is still very common and much cheaper than 7.62 by 39 or .308. There are just some range sacrifices with .223, but it will get the job done. Also, the Saiga can hold 30 round clips, which is a huge plus! You can get 300 rounds of Wolf .223 for $150. Again, its often better to buy a little at a time and store it. So, for food, survival gear, Saiga, and 300 rnds of ammo, that comes to about $1200. If you broke up your purchases over 4 months, thats $300 a month.

7.62x39 is the same price or less than .223. Accuracy is not quite as good but way more stopping power for "larger" game--also, not as likely to affect trajectory when shooting through solid objects with 7.62x39. You are 100% correct about Saiga firearms though. Absolutely incredible firearm for the price. Low maintenance and reliable. Just personal preference but I would go with the 7.62x39 for all purpose survival situations. You are correct that .308 ammo (aka 7.62x51) is much more expensive.

Well, I can only go by where I live and what I see in the stores, but here 7.62 by 39 must be overpriced, at least the surplus ammo is. The wolf ammo is always cheaper, but even that doubled in price in this area. The 39 has better stopping power, the only reason I suggest the .223 is because of its availability. 39 has been pretty scarce in comparison.

Survival pack and other gear shown here ran around $400 altogether, but the night vision was about a $100 of that, and its not absolutely necessary. Basically, $300 for a survival pack and the gear shown. My rifle was very expensive, around $1500. For those on a strict budget, I recommend to everyone that they get the "Saiga .223". It is versatile, rugged, and costs about $350. You won't find a better weapon for that price.

First, for enough freeze dried food to last 3 to 6 months, it will run you about $400 if you buy from E-foods and supplement with Mountain House. You don't have to buy it all at once though. I just buy a little everytime I have some extra cash and then store it away.

Yes. If you are reasonably certain that you will be able to stay near your home or your stores, canned and tinned food should be fine. Also, if you have a retreat already set up away from major population centers, tinned food would be perfect. This first video though is more for people who don't have a retreat, and may have to move quickly, so we focused more on foods that are very easy to transport. We'll try to do one for "retreatists" soon.
