@tophatjohnny I've got lots of other videos involving my REAL kit if you wanna take a look. The roland's good for practice though. Thanks for watching.
tried playin this other day with band wasnt workin. was playin most of the syncopation with the foot like imagrant song type beat but just wasnt right. dint hear the snare like way you played it on recording but you sounded good.its really a slow song lotsa space in it. excellent chiucken wing at end
Great cover man, I subbed for the Smashing Pumpkins stuff but I saw this, and its sick. I'd be really cool if you did something off of STP's album Core. Keep it up, and its also cool to see a person using an electric kit and not being hated on.
I can't stop watching your cover songs now..... I'm an absolute drum nerd and I always love watching great drum videos, and I haven't seen a bad one so far that you've made. Plus, your taste in music is so similar to mine that it makes it even more enjoyable.
Well smartass, they do make hydraulic controlled highhats that you can put on your right side. And you can make any right hand kit a left handed kit. I bet you are the genuis that walks into a music store and asks for left handed sticks.
Thanks a lot. Well, I never took any lessons so I can only tell you how I learned to do everything I know. I just played along to slowly songs involving that, and then once you've got it, you can play whatever speed you want. Whatever happens, just keep trying and one day you'll get it. Thanks again
Thanks. I use the sounds that are already on the Roland and usually I just use headphones. If I'm recording a video like this one, I connect it straight to the camera
Thanks. Effecting it in what way? I hold the sticks as lose as I can and it feels comfy. Nothing wrong with criticism, I just don't understand what you think is wrong with it
It seems like you hold the sticks very close to the bottom. To me, your hi-hat technique is wrong --- it's very flat. If your playing 8ths on hi-hat there should be two distinct sounds (well unless you want that effect). the first hit should be about 1" down from the tip of the stick then on your up motion you tap tip of the stick (one solid motion two different sounds). Also your ghost notes are too loud as a result of holding it so low, ghost notes should be easy and more felt than heard.
The reason it may look like I'm holding them at the bottom is because I use Vic Firth Extreme 5A. They're longer than most sticks so it may give the impression that I'm holding on to the very end of them
oh my god i now now what im going to look and be like when im your age i love stp i play drums and i play drums exactly like you like with your left hand for the hi hat.
I bought a Roland kit the other day, expecting to get it soon. Just wondering if you have many mesh heads break or sensor stop working from bashing the hell out of them?
I like to pound on the drums, I just dunno how hard is too hard.
Thanks a lot. I've had no problems with the ROland at all, apart from after 5 years, one of my cymbal pads cracked underneath. It still worked fine, but it just got a crack in it. That's after 5 YEARS though. The kit in general can take a beating. Check out my 'this is a call' video by Foo Fighters to see what a beating it can withstand. Thanks again
Thanks a lot. Yeah, it's a great song. The Roland TD-10 has come right down in price now. It's about $4,500 now instead of around $10,000. Thanks again
does the TD-10, feel identical or almost identical to an accoustic kit, beause thats the only thing thats been holding me back from and electic kit (well, that and the hefty price tag)

I have a question for you.
What kind of advice you give a beginner drummer on keeping straight quarter notes on the high-hat, while playing the bass drum?
That is pretty much the only thing I can't do.
Thanks!

not trying to dig you but if your putting stuff up on youtube constructive criticism can never hurt.
